It all happened so fast. When the Bone Giant descended from the sky, Shen Bai reacted purely on his sense of mortal peril, casting Divine Thousand Miles to barely dodge the colossal foot.

The foot slammed into the riverbank, leaving a deep crater. Not only that, but the river ahead began to churn violently, sending a pillar of water soaring into the sky.

As the column of water surged, a terrifying presence from the river’s depths rose along with it, swiftly taking its place high in the sky.

Currents of water enveloped the deathly pale man. A mocking sneer appeared on his face, as if he were taunting the Bone Giant.

By now, Shen Bai had already retreated dozens of yards away. He watched the scene from a distance, his brow deeply furrowed.

’It’s not an aberration, nor is it a Deceitful Object, yet this frigid aura is identical to that of an aberration. What in the world are these things?’

He didn’t understand.

Because everything unfolding before him seemed to defy common sense.

While Shen Bai was thinking, a battle broke out by the river.

They seemed to completely ignore Shen Bai, attacking each other the instant they met.

With a wave of the pale man’s hand, the entire river lifted into the air. It swirled around him, coalescing into a force of immense, terrifying pressure that swept toward the Bone Giant.

The power of the entire river was terrifying. Enhanced by the pale man’s Manipulation, a single drop of its water was enough to kill a master of the Void Realm.

When all that water converged, even Shen Bai would have had to avoid a direct confrontation.

But the Bone Giant seemed completely unfazed. It slowly raised its right hand, a frigid killing intent emanating from the chilling white bone.

Its hand, like a blade, sliced swiftly toward the river before it.

The river’s torrent was powerful, but under the Bone Giant’s hand, it was as fragile as a ribbon, instantly sliced in two.

The Bone Giant’s hand tore through the rushing water and the very fabric of Space, closing around the pale man’s neck.

Then, the pale man began to struggle frantically, spitting out muffled, indistinct words.

"Let me go! Let me go! I’ve been here for too long! I want to be free!"

Shen Bai understood every word. Though some of the phrasing was different from the language of the Great Zhou Country, it was still very similar.

’That’s the language of the former dynasty,’ Shen Bai thought.

He had read a great deal of historical material, so of course he knew a few things about the former dynasty.

The language of the former dynasty had certain dialectal elements and wasn’t widely spoken in the current Great Zhou Country. But the words this deathly pale man was speaking now were unmistakably from that old tongue.

This was the Celestial Pride Hall, so such strange occurrences weren’t entirely unexpected. The only truly abnormal thing was the question of whether these beings were even human.

Shen Bai held Cold Moon, pondering his next move.

As he was deliberating, the scene before him changed once more.

The Bone Giant raised its other hand, extending its index finger and touching the spot between the pale man’s eyebrows.

The moment the finger touched his brow, the struggling pale man froze like an ice sculpture, his body rigid and motionless.

Then, starting from the soles of his feet, the pale man began to turn to ash, which drifted away into the sky.

The river, no longer under control, crashed back into its original channel, its waters churning violently just as before.

The Bone Giant, however, simply waved its hand. It turned and stared fixedly at Shen Bai with its empty eye sockets.

Inside the empty eye sockets, two wisps of eerie green light lit up, containing no killing intent, but a trace of curiosity.

From the very first glance, Shen Bai could see a trace of confusion in the Bone Giant’s gaze.

The confusion mixed with its curiosity was completely undisguised. Even an idiot could have read the emotion in its gaze.

’Why does it look so confused to see me?’ Shen Bai wondered.

Everything inside the Celestial Pride Hall was far too mysterious.

Both the Bone Giant before him and the pale man from earlier were phenomena he could not explain with his current knowledge.

However, it seemed there was no immediate danger.

After careful consideration, Shen Bai remained perfectly still.

As he was thinking this, the Bone Giant finally moved.

The Bone Giant extended its left hand and beckoned to Shen Bai with its index finger.

Shen Bai understood the gesture. It wanted him to follow.

After making the gesture, the Bone Giant didn’t wait, immediately leaping into the river.

The river was so deep that even a creature as tall as the Bone Giant vanished from sight moments after jumping in.

Shen Bai strode to the riverbank. He stared at the churning water, his mind racing for a moment.

Then, he circulated the Qi in his body and cast the Infinite Divination Skill.

’That means there’s no danger in following it into the water.’
