I Can Extract Divine Power

A delightful fragrance filled the room, putting one’s mind at ease.

The room’s decor was classical and elegant.

A round table stood in the center, laden with fine wine and delicious food.

A folding screen stood in the middle of the room. Behind it, a bed was partially obscured from view.

Through the thin screen, the graceful silhouette of a woman changing her clothes was visible.

After Shen Bai sat down, the Courtesan’s soft voice drifted out from behind the screen.

"Please wait a moment, sir. I’ll just change into some casual attire and come out to speak with you."

Every word seemed to have been chosen with deliberate care.

And every word carried a bewitching charm.

’Interesting. She’s trying to seduce me at every turn. Does she want my body?’ Shen Bai thought.

He didn’t answer, instead remaining seated and looking around with keen interest.

Red Makeup’s voice spoke again, "Master, there’s a shroud of mystery over Ruo Shui City. You must be on your guard. Don’t let this vixen steal your heart."

Amber huffed. "How can a fox be as cute as a cat? I’m the cutest! Master definitely won’t be charmed by that vixen."

Shen Bai didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the exchange between his two Deceitful Beasts.

In truth, he could have used any number of his Divine Powers to resist her bewitching aura.

After about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, the sound of footsteps finally came from behind the screen.

Then, the Courtesan, dressed in simple, light green attire, slowly emerged from behind the screen.

The simple green dress perfectly accentuated her exquisite figure.

A simple hairpin held up her hair, yet it somehow highlighted her graceful bearing all the more.

A touch of faint rouge on her cheeks amplified her captivating charm.

The Courtesan glided gracefully, sat down opposite Shen Bai, picked up the Wine Flask, poured a cup, and offered it to him.

A playful look appeared in Shen Bai’s eyes. He didn’t take the cup. Instead, he looked past her to the bed behind the screen and said, "Since you’ve invited me to your room, let’s cut the crap. Why don’t we strip naked, spend the night together, and talk about everything else after? How does that sound?"

Every word was laced with a teasing tone.

The Courtesan faltered for a moment, then shook her head. "You are not that kind of person, sir."

Shen Bai chuckled. "You’re the Courtesan of the Ten Thousand Flowers Building, and you’ve never sold your body. But if you didn’t invite me here today for a night of passion, what did you want?"

"You know perfectly well I have something on my mind, sir, yet you continue to jest."

The Courtesan set down the Wine Flask, shook her head gently, and then said something that made Shen Bai’s heart skip a beat. "I can tell you’re not from Ruo Shui City, sir. You’re from the outside world, aren’t you?"

Her tone carried a hint of anticipation, as if she were eagerly awaiting his answer.

Shen Bai narrowed his eyes. "What? Is Ruo Shui City not open to outsiders?"

From the Courtesan’s words, Shen Bai had already begun to piece things together.

’From the sound of it, no outsider has ever entered Ruo Shui City.’

And that was indeed the case. After all, Ruo Shui City was Hidden underground in Nanxing Prefecture, surrounded by a vast and terrifying forest that was home to countless so-called Exotic Beasts.

An ordinary master at the Unity Realm probably couldn’t even make it to the heart of Ruo Shui City alive.

Someone in the Void Realm could, of course, but since Ruo Shui City was Hidden underground and required a special method to enter, even they might not be able to find it.

The Courtesan clasped her hands, her fingers laced tightly together, a hint of anxiety in her voice. "Sir, what is the outside world... what is it really like?"

Shen Bai frowned. "You mean you’ve never been outside of Ruo Shui City?"

The woman exuded an ancient aura, like someone from the Era of Ten Thousand Cities. With the city itself being so peculiar, Shen Bai wasn’t sure where to begin his analysis, so he just asked the question that was burning in his mind.

A bitter expression crossed the Courtesan’s face. "The City Lord forbids it. Anyone who tries to leave will suffer his severe punishment, so no one dares."

"Ruo Shui City is very large. We sustain ourselves with the Exotic Beasts from the forest and the fertile fields that stretch across half of it. Ruo Shui City has been self-sufficient for many years now, but we’ve never had any contact with the outside world."

Hearing this, Shen Bai’s confusion only deepened.

’According to the Courtesan, it seems Ruo Shui City chose this underground space back in the Era of Ten Thousand Cities. They’ve been living and thriving here on their own ever since, to escape the chaos and wars of that time.’

’But if that’s true, a city left over from the Era of Ten Thousand Cities shouldn’t be like this.’

’At the very least, the Ruo Shui City Lord should be sending people out to gather Information about the outside world from time to time.’

With this in mind, Shen Bai stopped beating around the bush and asked directly, "You’re from the Era of Ten Thousand Cities, aren’t you?"

A look of confusion appeared in the Courtesan’s eyes. "The Era of Ten Thousand Cities? What’s that, sir? I’ve lived in Ruo Shui City my whole life. The City Lord told us the outside world is terrifying, but those terrible things can’t get into Ruo Shui City, so we can live our entire lives here in safety."

Shen Bai hadn’t expected that answer.

’It’s obvious she’s from the Era of Ten Thousand Cities, so why does she look so confused?’

’And she claims to have lived underground her whole life.’

’If that’s true, then it’s impossible for her to have the ancient aura of the Era of Ten Thousand Cities.’

’Are you sure she’s from the Era of Ten Thousand Cities?’ Shen Bai asked Red Makeup in his mind.
