Within the vanishing Space, an ancient and decaying aura pulsed, as if plunging him into an icy abyss that chilled him to the bone.

The life force of the outside world was seeping in like a rising tide, threatening to wash the decaying aura away.

As Shen Bai glanced around, he saw that Yao Long and the others seemed completely unfazed, as if they hadn’t heard a thing.

Shen Bai asked, "Did any of you just hear something?"

Yao Long looked at him, puzzled. "Lord Shen, I didn’t hear a thing. It’s completely silent. What did you hear?"

The other members of the Observatory all wore the same blank expressions, seemingly having heard nothing at all.

Hearing this, Shen Bai frowned. "It’s nothing. If you didn’t hear it, then forget it."

This only made Yao Long more curious, but as a Jia Shou of the Observatory, he knew better than to press the issue. If Lord Shen didn’t want them to know something, they shouldn’t ask.

The faint, strange voice had only appeared for a moment before vanishing completely.

Shen Bai didn’t hear it again; it was as if it had never existed.

Wu Tian also clasped his hands. "Your might, Lord Shen, will echo throughout Nanxing Prefecture tonight. You will be known as its greatest protector."

The other members of the Observatory shouted in unison, "We congratulate you, Lord Shen, for destroying the Mysterious City and bringing glory to the Nanxing Prefecture Observatory!"

The sound was so loud that if the street hadn’t belonged entirely to the Observatory, the Government Office would have likely had a headache dealing with noise complaints.

Shen Bai waved his hand. "The matter is essentially concluded. Get the specific details from Yao Long and Zhang He, and make sure a formal report is written."

"Yes, sir!" Zheng Xing, who was in charge of filing reports, replied quickly.

Shen Bai continued, "I am also quite exhausted. Unless it’s an emergency, do not disturb me."
