Chapter 692: When Will You Rein in Your Filthy Mind?
He had been worried sick about her, running several red lights to get to her, yet she wouldn’t even tell him why.
Leona Grant pursed his lips, giving her a wounded look.
Annabelle Linton looked up at him and asked, confused, "What’s wrong?"
Leona Grant remained silent.
Annabelle Linton seemed to grasp the situation.
She walked over, clutching the stuffed animal in one arm and wrapping the other around him. "I was just thinking about things that happened in the past," she said, her voice muffled against him. "That’s why I was in a bad mood. But I’m fine now."
Hearing this, Leona Grant fell silent for a moment before asking, "Was it because of me?"
He had been the one to cause all her past pain.
She must have stumbled upon an old memory, which was why she was so upset.
"No, that’s all in the past."
Annabelle Linton gave a casual smile, then pulled back from his embrace to show him the stuffed animals she was holding. "Look! I won all of them. Here, I’ll give you one."
Leona Grant took the stuffed animal she offered. Watching her clutch the rest of the toys, her face filled with an innocent smile, he was suddenly struck by the beauty of the moment.
She had given him a Minion. Leona Grant didn’t recognize the cartoon character. He just thought its jaundiced yellow color made it look like a banana—but not quite—and he eyed it with some disdain.
’What an aesthetic.’
’No ears, glasses... and no shoulders, yet it’s wearing overalls?’
’Impressive.’
A look of disdain from someone like Leona Grant was a particularly amusing sight.
Seeing his disdainful expression, Annabelle Linton burst out laughing. She took the Minion from his hand and introduced it. "It’s a cartoon character, a Minion. His name is Kevin."
’A Minion? So... a little yellow man?’
Leona Grant shot her a wicked, meaningful glance. "Is it very... *yellow*? We should watch it together sometime."
’Well, duh. Of course a Minion is yellow.’
But seeing the look on Leona Grant’s face, Annabelle Linton hesitated.
’Has he gotten the wrong idea?’
Leona Grant glanced at the Minion. ’No wonder it wears overalls despite having no shoulders. It makes them easier to strip off!’
He then gave Annabelle Linton a meaningful look, an expression that screamed, ’So *that’s* the kind of person you are, Annabelle Linton.’
"..."
Annabelle Linton got it. She smacked him hard and said, exasperated, "Leona Grant, when are you ever going to get your mind out of the gutter?"
"I can’t help it. The moment you’re in front of me, all I can think about is stripping you bare, stripping you bare... and then making you pass out."
Annabelle Linton: "..."
She didn’t want to speak to him anymore.
Annabelle Linton simply started walking ahead on her own.
Leona Grant hurried to catch up, taking her hand and tucking it into his pocket. He leaned against her coaxingly, whining in an aggrieved tone, "Don’t be mad, okay? Take pity on me—I haven’t even eaten dinner this late. Please don’t be mad."
Annabelle Linton stopped walking and glanced at her watch. It was already half past eight.
’We ate a little after one o’clock. How could he have not eaten yet?’
Annabelle Linton frowned at him. "Why haven’t you?"
Leona Grant sighed, looking pitiful. "You weren’t around, so I had no appetite. And my arm really hurts, too..."
He held out his arm for her to see as he spoke.
Annabelle Linton glanced at the wound and snapped, "Serves you right!"
Despite her words, however, she picked up her pace on the way back. Leona Grant walked beside her, his gaze fixed on her the entire time.
From a shadowy street corner, a pair of cold eyes watched their retreating figures for a long, long time. At last, the observer let out a helpless sigh.
...
The moment they got home, Annabelle Linton washed her hands and started to cook for him.
Naturally, she wasn’t going to cook a feast this late at night. Besides, with his arm in that state... Annabelle Linton really didn’t want to say anything, afraid she would hurt his feelings.
