Chapter 223: Go and Get Miss Linton
Annabelle Linton sounded tired, her voice faint. "What does it matter if I know him or not? If you don’t know what to do with him, take him to the embassy. If they won’t take him, just toss him out onto the street.
I have nothing to do with him. Even if I did, I wouldn’t go. Got it? Don’t call me again."
"Get lost! All of you, get lost! You’re all just like that heartless bitch, Annabelle Linton! Not a single one of you is any good! Now get lost! CRASH! BANG—"
Annabelle had barely finished speaking when Leona Grant’s furious roar, followed by the sound of things smashing, erupted from the phone.
"Shit, he’s breaking stuff again! Somebody, help! We need help over here!" the student worker yelled, then hurriedly spoke to Annabelle Linton. "Miss Linton, please, I’m sorry to bother you, but this job isn’t easy for me. I’m begging you, please just come and take him home."
With that, he hastily hung up the phone.
’Heartless and cruel?’
Annabelle Linton scoffed, turned off the light, and went to sleep.
’Leona Grant, if I’m so heartless and cruel, does that make you a paragon of loyalty and integrity?’
...
「The Aurora Bar.」
BANG— Leona Grant violently swept the glasses off the bar and snarled at the server beside him, "Get me a drink! Didn’t you hear me?!"
"Young Master Grant..."
This bar was one of Nathaniel Locke’s properties. The owner hired Celestians, and the servers even used Celestian names. Therefore, everyone on staff could speak both Celestian and English, and they all recognized Leona Grant.
Leona Grant was slumped over the bar, his white shirt slightly wrinkled, yet he still carried a natural, roguish elegance.
Despite his high fever and disheveled clothes, he didn’t look the least bit wretched. He just seemed despondent, slumped over the table. His bloodshot eyes were enough to make one’s heart ache for him.
The empty bottles on the bar hid half of his handsome face, making one want to see more. A cigarette was perched between his long, slender fingers. The blue-white smoke curled around his sharp, handsome features, making him look somewhat dazed.
Leona Grant sat up, taking a drag from his cigarette and a swig of liquor. His mind was filled with Annabelle Linton’s cold indifference toward him, and the way she had smiled so radiantly for Aaron Wyatt.
Jealousy and anger surged up uncontrollably. "Bring me more liquor! Didn’t you hear me? Believe it or not, I’ll have you all torn limb from limb!"
The bar’s manager was so frantic he was about to drop to his knees.
’I must have been cursed for eight generations to deserve this!’
’Of all the places for this young tyrant to go drinking, why did he have to come here?’
’He’s already in this state. If he keeps drinking, something terrible is bound to happen!’
If I give him a drink, I’m afraid something will happen and I’ll get in trouble. If I don’t give him a drink, I’ll be in trouble right this second.
The manager was frantic enough to cry.
Finally, Leona Grant’s patience ran out during the manager’s three seconds of hesitation.
He grabbed a nearby chair and began smashing it into everything in sight.
The entire luxurious bar was left a complete wreck, as if it were about to collapse.
In a panic, the manager summoned the student who had called Annabelle Linton. "Where’s the person I told you to get? How the fuck did you handle this?!"
Looking as though he’d been wronged but couldn’t say a word, the student was on the verge of despair. "I called her! But Miss Linton is completely ruthless. She told us to take him to the embassy or dump him on the street! She refuses to come!"
"She’s not coming?!"
"That’s right, boss. I’m out of ideas!"
Tearing at his hair, the bar manager had no choice but to turn to an officer from the Celestian Police Association who was standing by in case of trouble. "You go and bring Miss Linton here. At this rate, something is going to happen! If anything happens to our ’young emperor’ over there, neither of us is walking away from this alive!"
The officer was also pacing anxiously. Hearing the manager’s words, he said quickly, "Alright, I’m on it! I’ll go right now!"
