My Lust System: I Inherited The Sin Of Lust And His Three Wives

Chapter 492: Secret Tunnels

Damian walked around the building with Loth following closely behind, keeping her steps light as they moved along the narrow alley behind the house. He examined the walls, roofline and every possible entrance with the patience of someone searching for a weakness in an enemy fortress rather than a humble civilian residence.

When he reached the back door, his expression immediately soured. A faint shimmer of demonic energy ran through the wooden frame, revealing another carefully concealed explosive seal. He crouched briefly to examine it before straightening and turning his attention toward the windows.

Unlike the doors, they appeared completely ordinary. No runes, defensive formation and or trace of demonic force.

"Really?" Damian muttered, sounding thoroughly unimpressed. "If you are going to set up such a seal, why not set it around the windows? This is a stupid, dumb blind spot that could be avoided."

He reached toward the nearest window, but before his fingers touched the latch, Loth’s thoughtful voice stopped him.

"I don’t think so..." She tapped her chin with her index finger while staring at the window as though examining a puzzle.

"What?" Damian raised a brow and pulled his hand back.

"Think about it. What demon force user would lower themselves to sneaking into a civilian’s house through a window? It’s rather demeaning for someone of their status. Even a lesser demon like me feels insulted having to sneak into a normal person’s home through the window." Loth spoke cautiously, but the longer she explained herself, the more confident her voice became.

"If someone discovered you crawling through a window, they would probably laugh at you before they even realized you were there to rob them."

Damian stared at her for several seconds. His first instinct was to dismiss the argument, but when he considered it from the perspective of the Underworld, he realized she had a point. Demons were creatures obsessed with hierarchy and dignity.

A powerful demon could casually slaughter someone weaker, but crawling through a window like a thief was another matter entirely. Even Damian himself, if he had been entering this house under normal circumstances rather than secretly infiltrating Cinderfall, would probably have simply kicked down the back door and dealt with whatever happened afterward.

"Alright. Alright..." Damian raised both hands in surrender. "I’ll admit you are not wrong."

Loth chuckled softly at the sight of him surrendering so easily. The simple exchange had done more for her nerves than she realized. When she had first arrived in Cinderfall, every sound had made her tense because she knew they were surrounded by enemies. Yet standing beside Damian and arguing over something as ridiculous as the dignity of entering through a window had somehow made the danger feel distant. For the first time since arriving, she was beginning to relax.

Damian opened the window and immediately swept Loth off her feet before she could react. He held her against his chest and slipped through the opening in one smooth movement, his body becoming nothing more than a black blur for an instant.

The moment they landed inside the bedroom, Damian flicked his wrist and the window swung shut behind them. He released Loth carefully, but neither of them had time to speak before the bedroom door suddenly opened.

The Ifrit’s head appeared through the doorway.

Both Damian and Loth froze.

The demon stared directly toward the window, his fiery eyes narrowing slightly. He could not see either of them because Damian’s presence remained completely erased, but his instincts clearly refused to accept that everything was normal. He studied the room for several seconds, his gaze moving over the bed, desk and wardrobe before finally settling once more on the closed window.

"There is no harm in double checking," the Ifrit muttered.

He remained there for another moment before slowly pulling his head back and shutting the door.

Loth released the breath she had been holding and pressed a hand against her chest. "That was close."

Damian, however, was already examining the room.

It was remarkably simple. There was a single bed pushed against one wall, a small reading desk and a shelf filled with worn books. His wardrobe stood in the corner, and the entire room felt cramped enough that two people would have struggled to move around comfortably. Even stranger, the windows had been kept tightly closed despite the absence of any obvious reason for it. The room felt stale, as though the occupant deliberately avoided allowing outside air inside.

Then Damian noticed the desk. A faint shimmer surrounded the shelf. The same explosive demonic array had been carved into it.

Puff!

Loth suddenly appeared sitting comfortably on Damian’s palm while Abel emerged around his neck scarf, his tiny dragon head peeking over Damian’s shoulder.

"He’s a practitioner and probably a skilled one," Abel said suspiciously, his crimson eyes focused toward the closed door.

"Dahh! He can tell that much," Rin rolled his eyes.

Damian ignored their bickering. His attention remained fixed on the door as his senses spread throughout the building. The Ifrit was still there, but his presence was strangely difficult to follow. Damian could feel him somewhere deeper inside the building, moving objects around and occasionally stopping as though searching for something.

That discovery made Damian’s frown deepen.

"I’m more curious about how my ring can’t even sense his presence." Damian raised his hand and briefly examined the black ring around his finger.

He had used it to locate powerful demigods before, yet the Ifrit had somehow remained hidden from its perception. "What kind of treasure does this guy have that allows him to hide himself so completely?"

"Focus and we will find out," Abel said calmly.

"Don’t talk to your master like that, you piece of shit," Rin immediately cursed.

Loth covered her mouth to suppress a laugh. She had spent onlu a day around Damian, yet she was already beginning to understand the strange relationship between the two spirits. Rin was almost always the aggressor, while Abel responded to his insults with such complete indifference that it somehow made Rin even angrier. It was as though Abel’s refusal to take him seriously was itself an insult, and judging from the look on Rin’s face, he was already preparing another argument.

Damian ignored them both.

He covered his left eye with one hand and activated his Clairvoyance.

A pitch black eye with a narrow purple slit manifested at the edge of the storage room.

What Damian saw immediately made his expression change.

The Ifrit was lifting several large barrels from the floor and placing them against the wall. Once the last barrel had been moved, he crouched down and pulled back a thick rug. Beneath it was a wooden door built directly into the floor.

Damian watched silently as the Ifrit opened it, revealing a staircase that descended into darkness.

The demon glanced around before stepping through and disappearing below and Damian immediately deactivated his Clairvoyance.

"Alright." He turned toward Loth, a faint smile appearing on his face. "We definitely hit the jackpot."

Loth’s eyes lit up. Whatever was hidden beneath this house could potentially provide them with exactly what they needed. More importantly, the faster they completed their mission, the faster they could return to Velmora, where she knew Damian would be surrounded by people powerful enough to protect him.

"Let’s go then," she said eagerly.

Damian smiled at her enthusiasm and nodded.

They left the bedroom and entered the narrow corridor. Several barrels had been stacked against one wall, making the passage even tighter, but Damian easily moved through it with Loth following directly behind him. They reached the storage room and found the rug already pushed aside, revealing the entrance the Ifrit had used.

Damian stepped through first.

The staircase immediately descended into darkness and the passage was narrow but surprisingly spacious considering it had clearly been constructed for an Ifrit. A human would have found it unnecessarily wide, but the enormous demon could comfortably move through it without scraping his shoulders against the walls. Damian and Loth followed the distant glow of torches as the staircase eventually became a long underground corridor.

They moved quickly, careful not to make unnecessary noise. Far ahead, they could see the Ifrit’s silhouette turning around a bend.

Damian signaled Loth to remain close. They continued after him until the passage suddenly divided into three separate paths.

The Ifrit chose the left passage without hesitation and Damian glanced toward the other two. His eyes immediately detected faint traces of demonic energy.

’If anyone ever discovered this tunnel, they could easily trigger a trap and get killed in here,’ Rin’s voice rang through everyone’s minds.

’Dahh... He can tell that much,’ Abel retorted.

Loth immediately covered her lips to stop herself from laughing.

’You cheeky bastard...’ Rin growled telepathically.

Damian rolled his eyes and continued along the left passage. They encountered another fork shortly afterward, then another. Each time, the Ifrit selected the correct route without hesitation, while the abandoned passages contained the same faint traces of explosive arrays. Whoever constructed this place had deliberately turned the tunnel into a maze where a single wrong turn could mean death.

Eventually they reached another long passage with a faint light glowing at the end and the Ifrit stopped. Damian and the others immediately halted several meters behind him.

The demon slowly removed the hood that had been covering his head before reaching behind his clothing and removed out a small beetle shaped necklace from his neck, then something changed.

Smoke began pouring from the Ifrit’s body.

It was not ordinary smoke. The thick fumes rapidly filled the tunnel, rolling across the floor and ceiling until visibility became almost nonexistent. Yet when the smoke reached Damian, instead of touching him, it parted around his invisible body and clung to the walls, leaving a narrow pocket of clear air around him and his companions.

Loth instinctively covered her nose, but she quickly realized the fumes were not reaching her either. Damian, however, was no longer paying attention to the smoke.

His expression had become deeply serious. The presence radiating from the Ifrit was suddenly immense.

It surged through the tunnel with such density that the walls themselves seemed to tremble beneath it. Damian could feel the sheer weight of the demon’s power despite the fact that the man was still technically not a demigod.

He was nowhere near ordinary. In fact, the intensity of his presence was comparable to Duke Haboryms!

Rin’s voice finally broke the silence, and for once there was no mockery in it.

’What the hell is going on here?’
