Chapter 151: Twenty’s Help
"Is this true?" Twenty asked, his voice low.
As one of Damian’s benefactors, he had come here with the intent of getting a name he could exert revenge on. He did not know Damian had already spoken to the police and told them he did not see the shooter’s face.
"Is what true?" Damian needed specifics.
The question was too broad to answer.
He gently pulled Hazel’s hand off his neck and guided it around his waist, giving himself enough room to sit up without disturbing her sleep too much.
Gently, he began caressing her head and Racheal’s before shifting to Ruby. Watching him fondle all three girls made Twenty’s heart burn with jealousy, but his fear for this man and his mysterious master superseded every other emotion.
"You don’t know who shot you?" Twenty clarified.
"No, of course I know, but I can deal with it personally, so why get the police involved? I’d rather turn this tragedy into an opportunity." Damian shrugged casually.
Twenty blinked in surprise, but then his shock twisted into a proud smile. He threw up gang signs while smiling from cheek to cheek.
"Always thinking about that paper even when downed with that chopper!" he rapped, and Damian cringed inside.
He could not deny the line went hard, but since it was made out of his most embarrassing experience so far, he could not fully appreciate Twenty’s craft.
Imagine how his fellow princes of hell would laugh when they found out one of them nearly died to a mortal with a gun.
It was an embarrassment Damian planned to wash away with blood.
"Adrian Cole... Find him for me alive." Damian finally gave out the name.
Immediately, Twenty’s smile vanished and his visage turned cold. It was a completely different person from before.
"Colleague?" he asked.
"Former. He swung at me because his bitch was down bad for me and got fired. The coward blamed me for everything and nearly did not even have the guts to pull the trigger." Damian’s voice was filled with venom and resentment.
Twenty nodded in understanding. Now that Damian had explained, he fully understood the nature of the situation. Even amongst his men, some had killed their friends over a woman, leaving him with no choice but to execute them as well.
In the end, it was not worth it.
This was one of the few crimes Twenty had a prejudice for. He did not care if a person was a murderer or a thief. However, killing someone over a woman was a big no for him.
"This is the third day since the news got out. From my experience, I’m certain he has fled the state by now. If he’s good at covering his tracks, finding him may take up to a month or so."
Twenty explained, but this did not come as a surprise to Damian. He had already expected this much. Even if Twenty did not say it, he would have brought it up.
"That’s exactly why I need you to handle this. Only your people can get it done." Damian smiled, and Twenty’s face mimicked his smile.
Pride swelled in his heart and he jumped to his feet with renewed vigor.
"Of course, only the Black Apostles can get this done. I’ll give the word and have my men make sure it gets done in three weeks! You don’t have to worry about a thing, just focus on your recovery."
Saying this, Twenty walked over to Damian’s bedside. His eyes stole glances at the sleeping girls as he placed a pack of cigarettes and a lighter on the bedside desk.
"I’ll leave you to rest now and I’ll keep some of my boys on guard duty. But when you recover, you are going clubbing with me and you are gonna teach me your secret... If you know what I mean?" Twenty’s suggestive eyes danced between Damian and his wives.
Damian could only laugh out loud at his words.
"Only if you can help me adjust my holiday plans and shift the bookings to the weekend. They won’t let me out here until Saturday." Damian stretched out his hand for a shake.
"Deal!" Twenty dabbed him with the enthusiasm of a man who had just won the lottery.
Excitedly, he literally began running out of the room as if he was scared Damian might change his mind.
"No backing out now! Don’t forget." he yelled before slamming the door behind him.
Damian found himself chuckling at everything that had just happened. The smile was weak, but it was genuine, prompting Ruby, Hazel, and Racheal to finally open their eyes.
They looked at his face, and smiles bloomed on their own. It was nice seeing their husband smile again, even though it was not for them.
"We are still going on vacation?" Hazel asked, her big circular eyes staring at Damian with warmth and yearning.
"Of course." Damian smiled back at her. "We have all worked hard for the past few months and we are all at the edge. We all deserve the rest."
Gently, he caressed her hair while he spoke. Smiles could only bloom on their faces as they hugged him tight from their sides.
"I want you..." Ruby could not hold it back anymore.
Damian shifted his gaze to her and gently caressed her hair as well.
"Wait till I get discharged. I need to be sure I have thrown those priests off my track first." Damian said with a heavy sigh.
Since having sex would jumpstart his demonic heart, it would leave him vulnerable if Corbin was crazy enough to try and test him for the third time.
While it felt ridiculous, Damian dared not take chances with that mad priest. Ruby and the others also understood his words and intentions.
They are well aware of this, that’s why they want the priest dead. However, now Damian has shown his interest in letting the man live, they have no other choice but to go with his decision.
