Chapter 65 : Chapter 65
Chapter 65: Chen Yun: ??
“Come. There are some things I want to ask you.”
Bai Yu stepped away, glancing back.
Lu Liangting thought she was talking to him.
Then he saw Shen Shuyun stand up from the ground and follow after her.
A strange smile hung on Shen Shuyun’s face. She tilted her head toward Lu Liangting and raised her right index finger to her lips.
In a very soft voice, she said,
“Don’t follow us. This is something between girls.”
“If you have questions, you can come to my house after we leave this place. You know the address. I’ll tell you everything in detail.”
“Of course… that’s assuming I survive.”
She had already obtained the answer she was seeking.
But before that, she had done something extremely dangerous.
She had deliberately revealed the Doctor’s identity.
Afterward, the Doctor might very well kill her to eliminate any future risk.
But that no longer mattered.
On the contrary, even if she really did die because of it, she would still thank the Doctor.
Without her help, she would never have been able to defeat Zhang Dahai.
If the roles of hunter and prey had been reversed, the one who would have died would have been her.
Death itself was not terrifying.
But the manner of death mattered.
Being killed by the Doctor…Or being humiliated by Zhang Dahai before being killed…She chose the former.
Noticing Shen Shuyun’s expression, Lu Liangting said nothing.
He simply watched as she followed Bai Yu and left.
He did not know whether it was just his imagination, but Shen Shuyun seemed to have changed within this short period of time.
The change was significant.
Yet he could not pinpoint exactly what had changed.
He could not even be sure whether it was a good thing or a bad thing.
“If I go to her house… I’ll probably die.”
After both Shen Shuyun and Bai Yu disappeared from view, Lu Liangting leaned against the doorframe and gave a bitter smile.
He took out the steel pen and the red hairpin and held them in his palm.
“She has far too many secrets. Far more complicated than I imagined.”
“She probably didn’t die in Sunshine Apartments. She likely went there because she sensed the presence of the female ghost on the fifth floor and was worried that ghost would harm people.”
“That explains why she saved me again and again… and why she immediately fought the fifth-floor ghost the moment she appeared.”
Lu Liangting sighed softly.
“To be honest… I really wanted to help her.”
“At the time, I even thought that since she died in Sunshine Apartments, I should at least find her remains and give her a proper burial to help her resolve her resentment.”
“But now I have no clues at all.”
“I don’t know her secrets.”
“I don’t know her past.”
“I don’t even know her name.”
“But it’s fine. There will definitely be more chances in the future.”
“And she spoke to me just now.”
“That’s a good start.”
“At least it means I’ve left some impression in her heart.”
“If nothing else works… I can ask Shen Shuyun.”
Lu Liangting had made a tremendous decision.
He knew very well what kind of mind lay beneath Shen Shuyun’s sweet appearance.
If he went there, he might either be forced into something against his will… or simply be killed.
If he really went, he would stay in the living room.
He would not eat anything.
He would not drink anything.
He would take every possible precaution, ask what he needed to ask, and leave immediately.
The steel pen and the red hairpin in Lu Liangting’s hand remained completely still, as if deliberately avoiding the topic.
Yet he noticed none of it.
He continued muttering to himself.
“Oh right… she asked me about the talisman earlier, and I didn’t finish explaining.”
“Chen Yun isn’t someone who talks much, but she’s a good person.”
“It’s just that one is human and the other is a ghost.”
“And Chen Yun seems to know some ghost-hunting methods… so she’s not exactly friendly toward ghosts.”
“I told Chen Yun I would come here.”
“I wonder if she followed me.”
“I hope not… at the very least, I hope there’s no conflict.”

“I’m going to kill you!”
On the third floor of the Youth Center, Chen Yun was furious.
Deep down, she had always looked down on Zhao Mingyue.
Yet every single time she competed with Zhao Mingyue, she lost.
From sports…To grades…To appearance…
The only thing Chen Yun felt superior in was family background.
And there was one more thing.
She could access another world.
Zhao Mingyue, on the other hand, was nothing more than an ignorant, pitiful girl who had to work part-time every day just to support herself.
She had no idea how small her world truly was… or how vast and mysterious the outside world could be.
Recently, Chen Yun learned from her older sister that Zhao Mingyue had somehow begun to enter that world as well.
And she had done so alongside Lu Liangting.
But Chen Yun had no interest in competing over success or failure.
Her thoughts were very simple.
She wanted to turn Zhao Mingyue into part of that world.
And then control her herself.
Zhao Mingyue, of course, knew nothing about Chen Yun’s thoughts.
Seeing how furious Chen Yun looked, Zhao Mingyue assumed it was because of the blow she had delivered earlier.
Before Chen Yun could finish speaking, Zhao Mingyue threw out a talisman covered in strange eye symbols.
The talisman floated in midair.
When Zhao Mingyue looked at it, her vision blurred for a moment and her mind became dizzy.
Around them, the surrounding little ghosts let out painful screams.
Chen Yun raised her hand.
Another talisman flew out from her wide sleeve and attached itself to her palm.
This talisman was different.
It did not have an eye symbol.
Instead, it was filled with streaks of black mist.
A trace of viciousness flashed through Chen Yun’s eyes as she suddenly slammed her palm toward Zhao Mingyue’s abdomen.
This talisman contained the lingering resentment of a Fierce Ghost.
If that resentment entered someone’s body, the victim would not die immediately.
Instead, they would become entangled in endless resentment.
Countless illnesses would plague them.
Their body would deteriorate day by day until they eventually died in agony.
And because of that resentment, they would turn into a ghost themselves and continue to suffer.
The method was simple.
The effect was extremely cruel.
After all, ghosts were the extreme opposite of humans.
Even ordinary contact with them could bring endless misfortune.
Let alone having a ghost’s resentment forced directly into one’s body.
Illness was only one part of it.
The most terrifying aspect was the mental torment.
With that resentment inside them, the victim would begin to see a “ghost” that did not exist.
That ghost would never disappear.
Never leave.
Day and night, it would torment them endlessly.
But just as the talisman was about to strike—A slender hand with unnaturally pale skin suddenly appeared.
It grabbed Chen Yun’s wrist firmly.
The talisman froze in place.
No matter how hard Chen Yun tried, she could not push it even a single millimeter closer to Zhao Mingyue.
The wrist gripping her was ice-cold.
The coldness penetrated her bones and pierced straight into her soul.
Chen Yun instinctively turned her head.
A girl slightly shorter than her had appeared without her noticing.
The girl held her wrist firmly.
When Chen Yun first saw Bai Yu, she did not even realize she was a ghost.
She had never seen a ghost that looked this clean and beautiful.
It was only the icy chill radiating from Bai Yu’s hand that made her realize the truth.
Unfortunately, Chen Yun’s other arm had already been crippled by Zhao Mingyue’s earlier strike.
And the last remaining hand was tightly restrained by Bai Yu.
No matter how hard she struggled, she could not break free.
The feeling was like being clamped by an iron vise frozen in liquid nitrogen.
She simply could not believe it.
How could a ghost who looked so slender possess such terrifying strength?
