Cara Preston started whimpering, but Vera Xavier just turned her head to Nathaniel Nathan and said, "Let’s go."
Watching Vera fly into a rage, Nathaniel Nathan found her even more radiant and beautiful. He really liked this side of her.
Jack Judd, who had witnessed the whole scene, flinched. Then, as if struck by a sudden inspiration, he declared, "I want to be detained too! I want to stay with my wife!"

As Nathaniel Nathan was leading Vera Xavier out of the police station, Vera asked, "How did you know to come here?"

Vera pouted. ’This guy... he’s clearly worried about me, but his words are so cold. Would it kill him to just say something nice for once?!’
She took the initiative to link her arm through his and said, "Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! From now on, whenever I run into trouble, I’ll drop your name immediately. But what if I run into someone who isn’t impressed?"
"Then call for me," Nathaniel Nathan said coolly. "I’ll come and beat them up. I’ll beat them until they’re impressed."
