Chapter 206: Luring the Snake Out of Its Hole
Only after her tirade did Rona Langdon remember that she’d forgotten to ask Vera Xavier where she got the seal she gifted Master Nathan today. And if there was any leftover material, even enough to make a pendant for her would be nice!
Vera Xavier couldn’t be bothered to care about the mother-daughter duo’s mood. Her mind was occupied with one thing: ’Were that wretched mother and daughter involved in what happened last night?’
Finding the answer wasn’t actually that difficult. The next day after school, Vera Xavier found Jack Judd, the gang leader from the previous day, and whispered a few instructions in his ear.
Although Vera Xavier had bashed him over the head the day before, she wasn’t particularly strong, so his injuries weren’t severe. Moreover, the events of last night had made him realize the gravity of the situation. In a way, Vera Xavier had saved his life.
This was the first task Vera Xavier had given him, and he was determined to carry it out with everything he had. "Don’t you worry. I guarantee I’ll get it done!"
Wesley Kane had waited at home all night. He had been expecting to hear news that Vera Xavier had been raped and then beaten, her arms and legs broken. But after waiting the entire night with no word, he couldn’t stay awake any longer and fell asleep.
The incident at the school gate had left Wesley Kane resentful of Vera Xavier, but he’d had to act like an obedient grandson because Master Nathan had intervened. Later, he was arrested for soliciting a prostitute. It took a great deal of effort for his mother, Daisy Archer, to get him out, and he blamed Vera Xavier for that, too.
So, when Rona Langdon showed up, pressing five hundred yuan into his hand to placate him and hinting that Vera Xavier would be returning late from Master Nathan’s birthday party, he felt his chance to deal with her had finally arrived. He added another fifteen hundred yuan to the sum, found Jack Judd, and ordered him and his men to rape Vera Xavier and break her arms and legs.
He wanted to see her utterly ruined and disgraced, to have her come crawling back to him in tears!
He didn’t wake up until the afternoon, but Jack Judd still hadn’t contacted him. He specifically asked Daisy Archer if anything had happened in the alley the previous night, but there was no news at all. He immediately grew anxious.
Just then, the phone at the Kane residence rang. Wesley Kane answered; it was Jack Judd. He immediately demanded, "What the hell happened? You couldn’t even handle one simple thing!"
Jack Judd scrambled to apologize. "Last night, Master Nathan had a driver take Vera Xavier home, so we never got a chance. But heaven is on our side! She took a deserted path on her way from school, and we’ve tied her up. Do you want to... have a go at her first? We’re saving her first time for you!"
For some reason, as Jack Judd said the words "have a go," he thought of Nathaniel Nathan, and his voice trembled involuntarily.
But Wesley Kane, lost in his own delight, didn’t notice a thing. The thought of pinning Vera Xavier down, of her beautiful face and her fine figure, made every cell in his body tingle with excitement. "Excellent!" he said hurriedly. "Give me the address!"
Wesley Kane rushed out the door. Daisy Archer shouted after him, "Where are you off to now? You’re forbidden from going to South Street!"
"Got it!" Wesley Kane called back dismissively, hailing a taxi on the street and heading straight for the red brick factory Jack Judd had told him about.
The so-called red brick factory was actually an abandoned site about a mile west of Crestfall. The area was dotted with pits that had been dug for firing bricks. The fires had long since gone out, leaving nothing but dark, damp hollows. Combined with rumors that the place was haunted, very few people ever came here.
