Chapter 385: If It’s Unpleasant, Don’t Say It
Pei Jing quickly ran into the room, heading straight towards Jiang Ran.
Seeing Pei Jing approach, Jiang Ran smiled, "Little Jing, what’s up?"
Pei Jing glanced at Xu Ruyun outside the window, "Mom, I ran into a weird auntie."
Before Jiang Ran could respond, Chen Bing asked puzzled, "Weird auntie? What weird auntie?"
Pei Jing heard this, looked at Chen Bing, and explained seriously, "Mom told me, when you encounter unfamiliar uncles on the street who smile weirdly and try to touch you, they’re weird uncles. Those with long hair outside are aunties not uncles, so they’re weird aunties."
Hearing Pei Jing’s explanation, Jiang Ran was momentarily at a loss for words.
To be fair, there’s nothing wrong with this explanation.
Chen Bing curiously asked, "Little Jing, what did the auntie say to you just now?"
"She said I look really good and cute, then she tried to touch my face, so I ran."
"Mom said when strangers say things like that, it’s weird, and you should run away quickly."
Chen Bing immediately looked at Jiang Ran, and Pei Yang also turned his gaze over.
Feeling their stares, Jiang Ran just wanted to wave her hands and shake her head.
No!
She didn’t!
She isn’t!
That’s not exactly how she phrased it.
But before Jiang Ran could explain, Xu Ruyun had already walked in from outside.
At this table, anyone entering could see them at a glance, since they were next to the window.
So after scanning the room from the doorway, Xu Ruyun noticed them.
When Xu Ruyun saw Jiang Ran, she was visibly taken aback, first with disbelief, then with delight, and she quickly walked over.
As she approached, Xu Ruyun also spotted Pei Jing.
Xu Ruyun’s gaze shifted back and forth between Pei Jing and Jiang Ran, and after a while, she finally spoke.
"I just saw this child outside and thought he looked really good, somewhat like my senior brother. I didn’t expect he really is my senior brother’s child."
"But—"
Xu Ruyun laughed awkwardly, "What I’m about to say might not sound great, but I—"
"If it doesn’t sound great, then don’t say it." Jiang Ran directly interrupted Xu Ruyun.
"Huh?"
Xu Ruyun looked at Jiang Ran in surprise, not expecting her to speak up suddenly with such a remark.
Jiang Ran didn’t care how shocked she was, simply continued, "Since you already know your next words aren’t going to sound good, why even say them? I’m the kind of person who likes being straightforward; I don’t appreciate unpleasant talk, so don’t say it, and I don’t want to hear it."
Listening to Jiang Ran, Xu Ruyun’s expression became increasingly complex.
Clearly, Xu Ruyun hadn’t anticipated Jiang Ran speaking this way.
Jiang Ran’s unexpected approach left Xu Ruyun unsure of how to respond.
Xu Ruyun stared at Jiang Ran for quite a while.
Although she was standing while Jiang Ran was seated, her gaze was downward toward Jiang Ran’s, somehow Xu Ruyun felt she was a bit overshadowed by Jiang Ran’s presence.
This feeling was unpleasant.
Xu Ruyun furrowed her brows, "I’m only with good intentions..."
"Just because you think it’s good intentions, you feel the need to say it?" Jiang Ran raised an eyebrow, "But I’m not someone who likes accepting other people’s opinions, whether they’re good or bad."
Xu Ruyun bit her lip, suddenly giving Jiang Ran an apologetic smile.
"If that’s the case, then I won’t say it, it was my mistake for not considering properly earlier."
