Chapter 351: Do You Like Rabbits?
"I’m just bored," Jiang Ran explained further. "If I had something to do, I wouldn’t be drawing. After all, it’s vacation time, who doesn’t want to take a break?"
"Then let me take you out to find something to do."
"To do what?" Jiang Ran looked at Pei Huai curiously, not quite understanding why he suddenly said that.
In this cold weather, with snow falling outside, what could we possibly do?
"Do you like rabbits?" Pei Huai continued to ask.
Hearing Pei Huai’s completely unrelated question, Jiang Ran felt confused but still answered him.
"I like rabbit fur scarves, and also braised rabbit meat and spicy rabbit heads."
After Jiang Ran finished speaking, she looked at Pei Huai leisurely, waiting to see his reaction.
Most girls probably like soft, fluffy rabbits, right?
But certainly, not in the way she does.
Jiang Ran stared at Pei Huai and quickly saw the amusement in his eyes.
"That’s perfect, I like them too."
Jiang Ran, "?"
"I also like roasted rabbit. I’ll take you to catch some rabbits, let’s go."

Jiang Ran didn’t even know how she ended up following Pei Huai out the door, only realizing after they had walked quite far that she had been tricked by Pei Huai into leaving, with the excuse of catching rabbits.
The two of them headed up the mountain.
There was a mountain nearby their village, without a name, and while the trees weren’t very lush, there were plenty of bamboos.
Jiang Ran had been thinking about these bamboos for a long time.
When spring comes, and the bamboo shoots emerge, she definitely wants to come a few times to gather more bamboo shoots to eat.
Though it wasn’t spring yet, and the bamboo shoots hadn’t shown up, she ended up climbing the mountain to catch rabbits first.
But, in the middle of winter, how do you catch rabbits?
Jiang Ran had never caught a rabbit before.
Since she had never caught one, she could only follow alongside Pei Huai.
Pei Huai walked slowly, telling her stories from the past.
"When I was a kid, I took the village children to catch rabbits. I asked you to come along, but you never did."
Hearing this, Jiang Ran was full of questions.
When was this?
Why doesn’t she remember anything about it?
To prevent having overlooked this incident, Jiang Ran carefully searched through her memories, but ultimately found nothing.
Pei Huai continued speaking.
"Back then, you had just come to live with us, you were very timid and didn’t talk much, you liked being alone every day."
"When I went to catch rabbits and called you, you ignored me, so I thought you didn’t like it."
"But once the rabbits were caught and roasted, you enjoyed eating them more than anyone."

Even though she knew Pei Huai wasn’t talking about her, just the original owner, Jiang Ran still felt embarrassed.
She didn’t expect the original owner to be so cute as a child.
But then again, it makes sense.
No one is born a troublemaker, right?
When children are born, they’re a blank slate, and as they grow, they’re influenced by those around them, developing their personalities and ideas.
The reason the original owner became the way she did later on had many contributing factors, and it can’t be blamed on just one person.
Jiang Ran was still pondering these thoughts when Pei Huai, in front of her, suddenly stopped.
Jiang Ran almost bumped into Pei Huai’s back, but managed to steady herself just in time.
Her balance was quite good, and although she wobbled a little, she managed to stay upright.
Pei Huai glanced at her with a smile but didn’t offer a hand.
