Chapter 338

Truths and Lies (XXIV)

[--congratulations, Host. Your Disciples have achieved generational feats. Extra rewards have been generated]

[Congratulations, Host, on slaying the Heavenly Chosen. Extra rewards have been generated]

[...]

[Your Disciples Dai Xiu, Wan Lan, Light, Rayce, and Xi Zhao have successfully fended off an assault of dozens of martial artists of higher realms. Though not an unprecedented feat, it is one worthy of recognition]

[...]

[Reward 1: All the Disciples that have just broken through have had their cultivation realms immediately stabilized]

[Reward 2: 1,000 CP]

[Reward 3: You may create an Alchemy Recipe worth up to 2,000 Creation Points for free]

[Reward 4: Circle of Light (???) 1x]

[--Circle of Light (???) -- imbues a Shaman with an alternate magic circle. Uses are as limited as the Shaman's abilities]

[Reward 5: All of your Disciples gain a permanent 5% boost in their cultivation speed]

[Reward 6: Creator's Eyes gain an additional charge; 5/5 --> 6/6]

[...]

[--emergency quest, Falling of a Sage, has been completed]

[Reward 1: Infernal Cauldron (Mythical)]

[Reward 2: Upgrade one of your created Martial Arts by automatically giving it the 'Growth' aspect]

[Infernal Cauldron (Mythical) -- alchemical cauldron forged by the '???', causing an infernal rift to open up in the sky upon the moment of its completion from which hundreds of Fire Spirits emerged and blessed the new creation. All Alchemist Flames below '??? rank behave automatically, their abilities fully optimized. Every pill concocted within the Infernal Cauldron has a high chance of attaining an extra fire property, and all yang pills will have their effectiveness increased by 300% whilst consuming 50% of the materials per the set of herbs]

[...]

Alright, I have a new way to give Lao Shun yet another aneurysm. I kind of feel bad for the guy, to be honest, but seeing his reactions to things... well, it's funny. And I'm just an average sucker for some nice humor.

[--your Disciple, Long Tao, has achieved an unprecedented feat: at the mere peak of the Spirit Manifestation Realm, he has managed to conjure Dao and slay a True God. This feat has never been recorded in the Heavenly Records and would not be believed by anyone]

[Rewards recalibrated...]

[Choose one of the rewards]

[Reward: 1,000,000 mid-grade Spirit Stones]

[OR]

[Reward: Long Tao's Core will evolve further upon his breakthrough]

[--note: it is likely that Disciple Long Tao will forge Eternal Core as it is. As there is no higher quality of Core, it is impossible to upgrade it--however, as a substitution, a secondary core of the same quality will be formed]

... I mean, is it even a choice? I glanced over at the unmoving body of somebody who just achieved something that literally nobody ever has. For as frustrating as his antics can be, and for as maddening his insistence on throwing everyone (himself included) into the fire is, he's earned it.

While one million stones is the wealth I can only dream of, it's transient. Heck, considering that it's looking like Lao Shun will groom Xing Feng into an alchemist of sorts (even if the kid doesn't seem to have any innate talents for it?), there may yet be wealth in my future.

Regardless, though I don't know how important and broken the secondary Core is, I imagine it'll be yet another one of those things that only Long Tao achieves.

Taken from NovelFire, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

So, I chose the reward for him.

Sometimes, truth be told, the system confuses me; it offers these 'trap' rewards, selfish rewards, but outside of that, I have no means of abusing it to make myself stronger. Though I can create arts and methods, they still follow my innate comprehension abilities which--even with two sets of memories--aren't exactly great. Certainly worse than everyone else's.

Alas...

[--slaying a Heavenly Chosen has returned Karmic Mandate]

[Note: As it was Host's first time slaying the Heavenly Chosen, it is important to note that the system's direct interference has made it possible. Heavenly Chosen are ordinarily extremely difficult to kill as they innately evade death unless absolutely overwhelmed. The host's Disciple, Long Tao, would have similarly perished, all else notwithstanding, were he not a Heavenly Chosen, too]

[Heavenly Chosen are not the ones necessarily elected by the Heavens or by Dao; they are merely those who had been extremely blessed at birth, naturally or artificially. There is no karmic causality from their existence, as they themselves are neither of Dao nor of Heavens. As such, however, it is impossible to plunder their Karmic Mandate]

[...]

[Heavenly Chosen are felled by a decade, though almost never in this corner of the world. Rewards have been adjusted accordingly, as the Host has merely dealt the final blow, while Disciples have done the actual fighting]

[Reward 1: Qi Severance Talisman (Epic) x2]

[--Qi Severance Talisman (Epic) -- rip the talisman to temporarily sever the bonds with Qi. For the 24 hours, you will appear entirely mortal, though, if necessary, you will be able to use Qi, which will break the severance. Note that there are many arts, physiques, bloodlines, and even items that will have the ability to see through the illusion, but the talisman has the capacity to block the Divine Sense from reading Qi regardless of the martial artist's strength--including Emperors and Empresses]

[Reward 2: Major Trait, Heavenly Slayer (Epic), has been unlocked]

[--Heavenly Slayer (Epic) -- you naturally identify those blessed by the Heavenly Qi. Fighting martial artists with 'Heavenly' traits yields extra rewards]

[Reward 3: Host's Disciple, Xi Zhao, has gained initial criteria for the 'Endless Draws' trait. Recalibrating]

[...]

[Endless Draws (Legendary (Partially Unlocked)) -- every attack with the sword is treated as though it were a first draw. Due to limitations, this will currently only apply to the first 6 attacks. A new, disciple-exclusive quest has been generated: Eternity in a Blade (Legendary)]

[Eternity in a Blade (Legendary) -- Disciple Xi Zhao must slay 10,000 martial artists of higher realms using only 'draws' as attacks. Current Progress: 0/10,000]

[Reward: Endless Draws will evolve into a Mythical variant, allowing for up to 12 attacks to be treated as first draws]

[...]

[Reward 4: Host's Cultivation Realm has advanced to the Fourth Cycle, entering the peak of the middle stage of the Revolving Core Realm]

[Reward 5: Blossoming Blade (Legendary) (Host-Bound)]

[--Blossoming Blade (Host-Bound) -- each Qi-charged strike of the sword unleashes equivalent opposite energy that is then stored within the blade's crystals. Once all crystals have been charged with enough energy, the host may execute the 'Blossoming Eternity (Imitation)' martial art]

[Blossoming Eternity (Imitation) -- unleash stored energy in a flurry of attacks as an eternal dance of the blade blooms. Each consecutive attack on the same target is 20% stronger than the previous, stacking infinitely. The number of potential attacks within the flurry scales with the host's current realm. 4th Cycle of Revolving Core Realm --> 28 attacks]

[Note: Blossoming Eternity is an art that exists, though it is seldom practiced in the current Era; even if it is an imitation, it still bears resemblance to the original. Be wary that it can be recognized by notable figures. Additionally, it requires finite control of Qi to execute perfectly; based on the host's current standards, most of the attacks during the flurry will be uncontrollable. Achieve higher mastery of Qi control to better utilize the sword art]
