[VRMMO] Dead One

[Current location: Tail city.]

"So, the city was conquered?" – asked the holy king through the communication device.

"Yes your holiness." – replied the paladin with bandana.

"The plan was flawless."

"Not only we had obtained the Tail city, a critical location for own operations… But we had also obtained a massive victory against the empire."

"Their forces ran away like cowards! Even the so called empress was powerless to stop us!"

"…"

"Still, I wasn't expecting the adventures to not only be eliminated…. But also lost one of our previous divine artefacts... What do you have to say for yourself?" – said pope king, freezing up the paladin.

"…"

"It is my fault….. I didn't…. I didn't expected for the Alamin, our strongest adventures, even with a support of the others adventures to be all met with annihilation… Once he resurrects, I will have to ask him directly how he did failed."

"But for now, I'm willing to accept any punishment, since I was the one that supported the idea of lending the divine artefact to the Alamin."

"…"

"Forget it." – said the pope king.

"It was his plan in the first place that allowed us to easily take over the Tail city and deal a huge blow to the empire forces."

"Not only that, but I wasn't expecting myself that he would had lose to the demon lord."

"I've seen his powers firsthand and I even knew he was hiding more….Even look at his strategy, even if the part where he would slay the demon lord didn't worked, we still won in the end."

"As for the artefact, we have time to retrieve it. That artefact takes a long time to recharge and without any place providing it constant supply of the holy mana, the divine artefact won't do them any good."

"Simple put, we won't have to worry about them trying to use the divine artefact against us."

"Still, we shouldn't expected the empire to take this lose with dignity."

"They may be already planning on taking back this city."

"Don't worry your majesty." – said the paladin with bandana.

"The next stage of our preparations have already begun, so you don't need to worry about the empire."

Yes, this plan had multiple stages, with assumption that plan would either fail and succeed….. But there was a problem.

The one that came up with this plan, this strategy?

It wasn't one of the holy kingdom generals.

It was all Alamin plan.

And at this point? They still didn't knew that the Alamin had turned rouge, nor the fact that the players realized that the holy kingdom will betray them.

And the players themselves?

Obviously all of them that were with the Alamin at the time, planning to take down ClownFrog but instead end destroying themselves? They will report the situation.

Not all players were either using stuff like spirits or anything unholy, but a lot of players were neutrals or they were using the holy powers.

Simple put, the players that are using anything "forbitten powers" in the eyes of the holy kingdom had realized that they would be betrayed.

But the ones that won't be betrayed also don't want to lose the war will report the situation.

And here is a thing.

Not all players have went to the and joined Alamin operations.

And dying in game doesn't mean that communication between the friends wasn't an option.

So, the players that are loyal to the holy kingdom and were back then with Alamin contacted some of their friends, informing them about the crucial information that was then handed over to one of generals.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN ALAMIN IS A TRAITOR?!" – shouted furious paladin with bandana as he held one of the players that reported Alamin betrayal by the throat.

"P-please! Listen!" – said the priest player that was held in the air.

"Demon lord! ClownFrog! He exposed Alamin! He exposed him as traitor! Alamin himself even admitted to being one when he was corned by him!"

"…"

"I want full story." – said the paladin with bandana as he threw the player on the ground.

"I want to know EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of what happened during that battle!"

And so, the general heard the entire story from the group of players that came to report the Alamin.

They told the general about Alamin being traitor.

About somebody backing him up.

And about the players realizing that the holy kingdom will betray them.

"Alamin betrayal is one thing, but the pla- adventures are more worried about the holy kingdom betraying their loyalty at the end of the war." – said the priest player.

"Honestly, a lot of adventurers have already said that they would the holy kingdom after hearing this." – said the paladin player.

"This isn't looking good if I'm honest."

"At this rate a lot of adventures may end up switching sides."

"…"

"How many people knows about this?" – asked the paladin with bandana.

"Not many, but the news are spreading like wildfire amongst the adventures." – said the paladin player.

"We need to do something about this before it is too late."

"…"

(Alamin!? Alamin betrayed us?! How?! Why?!) – thought confused paladin general.

(NO! THIS DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!)

(I've personally scouted Alamin! He was working all this time for us!)

(HELL! HE WAS EVEN ALLOWED TO USE THE DEMONIC MAGIC SINCE HE WAS OUR HUNTING DOG! HE HUNTED DOWN SO MANY HERETICS AND UNHOLY BEINGS!)

(HE WAS ONE OF OUR CHAMPIONS THAT WORKED DILIGENTLY FOR US!)

(Even the holy king noticed his achievements and granted him a rank of noble!)

(And yet they are saying that he was always planning on betraying us!?)

(NO!)

(This must be the demon lord trick!)

(He plans on manipulating the adventurers…..Although…..Shit.)

(We were planning on getting rid of the heretics working for us after the war…..That informations was correct.)

(What do we do now?!)

ClownFrog plan was working.

The trust between the players and the holy kingdom was collapsing at rapid rate.

But this wasn't all.

ClownFrog was not aware at all that the Alamin was the one that came up with this plan, he only thought that he maybe was the one, but wasn't sure.

All he knew was that he was not only a player that quickly obtained the title of a noble in the holy kingdom, but also that he was quiet well known amongst the players as a ranker.

So….. What happens now that the holy kingdom knows that one of their most powerful and influential champions have betrayed them?

The answer: Chaos.

They knew that it was thanks to the Alamin plan that they had won the battle just now…. But was this "HIS" plan? To intentionally lose to the demon lord? To lose the divine artefact? To spread the truth regarding the holy kingdom betrayal?

They didn't knew anything….. But by now they weren't sure if they could trust Alamin anymore, even after hearing the story from many different players.

And so, the holy king declared a decree.

Arrest warrant was issued for Alamin. They wanted to lock up Alamin and find out the truth about the situation... But before Alamin could even come back to their world, there was another problem they are facing.

"Is the current plan going to work?"

With the trust within Alamin fading, both the paladin general and the holy king were not sure if the plan to defend the Tail city will work, since again, it was Alamin's plan.

Not only that, but chaos amongst the players had already started spreading everywhere.

The holy kingdom was not sure if the players would fallow their orders or if not straight up betray them.

However, there is a simple way to deal with this chaos.

The holy king just needs to make a declaration.

A declaration that he won't betray the players working for him.

That he will accept them no matter what.

…

But here is the thing.

He won't do it.

Nah.

Even if the heavens themselves would tell him to do it, he would not do it.

Reason?

He is zealot.

He does not see anybody that use any "unholy powers" like spirits, necromancy, demonic power and so on as real people, instead he sees them as "heretics that became animals".

He didn't started this war on his own.

No.

He was ordered by the heavens.

To slay the demon lord and destroy the "heretic empire".

And he just agreed without even thinking how many innocent people would die.

All he cares is about his faith like a madman… A true zealot.

…

He won't promise safety to the players that used any of the "unholy powers".

And because of that, the trust between the holy kingdom and its players will collapse, all because of the holy king zealot mind set.

And this was also the worst time for him to do stupid things like this.

Since the empire has already started moving again….. And they are heading straight for the Tail city in the hopes of reclaiming it.

The battle for the reclamation of the Tail city will soon commence.
