Netori Harem: New life as a hunter and gatherer

Chapter 140: A good meal

[Calculating the number of monsters you have hunted...]

[Ding! Host, you have earned:

1. 300GP

2. +800G

3. +5 Attribute Points]

[Your stats have improved as well, host.]

Luke first admired the rewards for a few moments, letting the numbers sink in, before urging, "Go on, show me the stats as well."

The system had mentioned that he would be rewarded based on the hunt, but a whopping three hundred GP along with that much Gamma elevation had been far beyond his expectations.

Soon, the status screen opened up before his eyes,

Stats:

Str: 18 -> 19

Spd: 19 -> 19.5

Def: 19 -> 22

Int: 15.5 -> 16.5

Gamma -> 1080/1360]

Attribute Points: 5

GP: 1250]

Woah. He couldn’t help but feel surprised at the noticeable jump in his defense and intelligence.

Sure, a small part of him felt slightly disappointed that his strength and speed hadn’t improved as much, but considering this had been an unexpected encounter where he ended up farming points, it was still a solid gain.

[Host, the more actively you use magic, the more it will affect your intelligence stat. And in every battle, you end up tanking hits, which steadily improves your defense.]

[With your Attribute Points, you can now reach the required values to level up.]

Luke hummed, a grin spreading across his lips. Without overthinking, he assigned three points to strength and the remaining two to speed.

A familiar warmth spread through his body, coursing through his muscles as his stats updated instantly,

Stats:

Str: 22

Spd: 21.5

Def: 22

Int: 16.5

Gamma: 1080/1360]

Attribute Points: 0

GP: 1250]

[To level up: 1000GP]

[To level up Gamma Pod: 7200/10000]

He had almost forgotten about the Gamma Pod. He was just twenty-eight hundred points away from evolving it, and possibly unlocking a new set of skills.

Now, about the level up.

He paused, thinking it through.

In the end, he decided to wait.

Leveling up after returning from the dungeon felt like the smarter move. His last visit had already made it clear that he was underprepared and needed better equipment, maybe a sturdier guard and even a long-range weapon.

And for that, he needed points. At the very least, half of what he currently had.

Dungeons were reliable sources of points, so he wasn’t worried about losing out.

So yes, he chose not to rush. He was curious, even excited, about what reward awaited him upon leveling up, but he had to stay practical, especially when he knew how crucial Gamma Points were.

"Well, that was a good meal," he said with a satisfied smile before getting up from the bed, deciding to take a bath first.

Speaking of baths, he also needed to visit Nadia.

"Ah, you are awake." Ginna, who had just arrived outside his room to call him, looked slightly surprised when he opened the door.

He smiled lightly. "Yeah, just now. What about the others?"

Ginna answered as they began walking side by side, "Gustav has gone out to look around. Lex returned home but hasn’t said much. Well, do you want to have lunch first?"

Luke smirked inwardly.

His dear elder brother must have been quite shaken after witnessing the creature he fought.

And after hearing about his awakening from others, Lex was probably going through a full-blown crisis.

Shaking his head, he muttered to himself, "I was planning to take a bath first, but I’m quite hungry too."

His mate had cleaned him earlier, but he still needed a proper bath to wash away that lingering discomfort.

But the smell of food had completely changed his plans midway, and he ended up asking for a meal first instead.

Ginna smiled at him and said, "Wait at the table. I’ll bring you a big portion."

Luke nodded and made his way into the main hall, where he found Laila busy cleaning the table.

*PAH*

She yelped in surprise as Luke spanked her ass lightly before taking a seat.

"Glad to see you can walk."

Laila glared at him and said, "You..." But then she exhaled a sigh and said, "...how is your injury?"

Luke was surprised she didn’t return that little prank with a verbal jab.

Nodding, he responded, "Not dying. What about you? Are you alright?" He didn’t ask in a joke this time. She wasn’t used to having rough and long sessions of sex.

While she enjoyed pain when they go at it, her body was not used to such abuse yet. So he was a little concerned.

Laila wasn’t very used to being taken care of, especially not by Luke, so she grew a little flustered under his attention. But remembering her mother’s words, she held herself back from speaking rudely and instead said, "I... am doing fine. I just need to sit down once in a while."

Luke nodded, his tone gentler. "Take rest today and don’t go out. And if you still feel any discomfort, let me know."

She nodded bashfully, her head lowering as a faint warmth crept onto her face.

Not long after, Ginna returned, carrying a large plate of meat in her hands.

The moment Luke saw it, his stomach churned in anticipation. His gaze immediately shifted to the plate as it was placed before him.

There had to be at least four kilograms of meat, with very little bone. The fat was perfectly cooked, still sizzling faintly, and the aroma of spices and herbs filled the air. Even at a glance, the tenderness was evident, enough to make his hunger surge wildly.

"Well, let’s dig in," he said without hesitation, rolling up his sleeves before diving straight into the meal.

Monica soon arrived at the table as well, placing three loaves of bread beside him. "How is it made?" she asked, watching him with an expectant gaze.

With oil smearing his lips, he immediately raised his thumb in approval, his mouth still stuffed with meat as he tried to respond.

Monica smiled warmly at his reaction. The vigor with which he was eating made it more than clear that he liked it.

Soon, Ginna returned with a jug of water for him before deciding to head back to her room. It was mid-afternoon, and since there wasn’t much to do, she usually used that time to get a bit of rest.

"If you’re feeling tired, you can go and rest too," Monica said gently to her daughter, who was sitting there quietly, almost as if lost in a daze.

Laila glanced at her and asked, "But you said there was some cleaning to do."

Monica chuckled softly. "That doesn’t necessarily have to be done today. Go and get some rest for now."

Truthfully, the spell cast on every villager the previous night had left them feeling slightly lethargic.

The same was true for Dalia and Laila as well.

However, Monica appeared completely fine, just as she always did.

Laila accepted the offer, as she was feeling a little sluggish, though for an entirely different reason.

She soon retired to her room, leaving the hall quiet, and Monica took a seat beside Luke.

Watching him eat filled her heart with a quiet sense of contentment.

In between bites, Luke offered her some bread and meat as well, but Monica shook her head gently. "I just had a meal."

Luke nodded and continued eating, finishing everything in about ten minutes.

"Haah..." He leaned back in his seat, glancing down at the faint bump on his stomach.

Damn, he could really eat.

Ever since being reborn into this world, his appetite had shot through the roof.

Part of it was because of how active he had become these days, but a big reason was also how good his mate’s cooking was.

Glancing at his mate he heard her asking, "So? What’s the plan now?"

Luke didn’t need to think, "Going to visit the neighbours."
