Chapter 207 : Violetta’s Trauma

After the entire city was wiped out, Undine immediately descended, having previously hovered above it. She stood in a puddle of water that remained in the city's remains. The five artificial water dragons that had accompanied her earlier slowly began to melt, turning into a pool of water that fell to the ground. Undine then looked around. All that remained was the dirt and rocks that had been used to create the city's streets. There were no buildings or trees around her, as they had all been swept away by the waves she had created.

"My mission of destroying several cities in the Holy Kingdom and killing several Holy Knights is complete. It's time to go home. I feel exhausted. I think I need to eat and drink something when I get back," Undine said.

Undine had now returned to her usual self.

"Ah, I just realized why I killed the mid-level spirit the Holy Knights possessed. I could have captured it and given it to Melgus so he could have made a magic weapon out of it. Well, the important thing is that I've completed the task given to me by my master," Undine said.

Meanwhile, the waves that had previously wiped out the city where the battle between Violetta and Lucas and Undine was taking place began to rush into a nearby river. The massive amount of water caused the river to reach its peak and overflow. The overflowing river flooded several areas of the Holy Kingdom along its path.

Within the overflowing river, Violetta struggled to reach the surface for air. However, without her severed arms, she struggled to reach the surface and continued to drift in the current. The longer she remained in the river, the more she became breathless. Her vision began to darken. She resigned herself to death.

Violetta then awoke in a room with walls dominated by white and gold.

"Where am I? Shouldn't I have drowned?" asked the confused Violetta.

Violetta was confused because her last memory before losing consciousness was being tossed around in the river. Violetta continued to look around the room, then she realized something strange. The strange thing wasn't about the room, but about her body. Miss Violetta then looked at her body and was shocked to realize that both of her hands had been reattached.

"My hands are reattached?? Is this a dream??" Miss Violetta asked.

She cried with emotion when she realized that her hands were reattached. Miss Violetta pinched her cheeks to make sure it wasn't a dream, and she felt pain after pinching her cheeks, indicating she was not currently in a dream. Then, she saw her sword in the room, also sheathed in its sheath, leaning against the wall of the room. Miss Violetta approached her sword and immediately retrieved it. But as she was holding it, it suddenly fell from her grasp. This was because her hands were trembling violently as she held it. She remembered her fight with Undine, and it filled her with fear.

Miss Violetta tried to calm herself by inhaling and exhaling. Then she tried to retrieve her sword, but her hands were still trembling as she held it. Despite her trembling hands, she forced herself to hold it until she finally managed to place it at her waist. Even though Miss Violetta had successfully placed her sword at her waist, the trembling in her hands still hadn't stopped. But Miss Violetta ignored it and decided to go to a door at the end of the room. Miss Violetta tried to leave this room.

After reaching the door and opening it, it turned out to be behind a large room that looked like a church because of the many chairs lined up in the room even though it was empty at that time. At the front of the room was also a giant statue that resembled a human but had two pairs of wings like a bird's. The giant statue was made of very shiny gold. The statue had no face, just like the statue in the church at the Duke of San Minerva's residence. The walls inside the church were also predominantly white with hints of gold, as was the interior.

"This place, isn't this the Angelica Castitat Church?" asked a confused Miss Violetta.

"It seems you've regained consciousness," said a woman.

While Miss Violetta was confused, a female Elf dressed as a nun arrived. The nun's habit was predominantly white with hints of gold. Around her neck was a necklace shaped like a large gold letter "I" with two pairs of white wings on either side of the letter. The necklace she wore was the same shape as the symbol worn by the Holy Knights on their uniforms.

"Teresia," said Miss Violetta upon seeing the Elf.

"It seems you remember me," said Teresia.

"Why am I here, Teresia? As far as I can remember, I was drowning in a fast-flowing river, and after that, I don't remember anything else," said Miss Violetta.

"You were found by some villagers evacuating others during a flood that struck a city in the eastern part of the Holy Kingdom. Your hands and your sword were later found some distance from where you were found. Then, some Holy Knights picked you up and brought you, your severed hands, and your sword to this church. At the time, you were already unconscious, so it's natural for you to have no memory of what happened."

"Then several Holy Priests began healing you and reattaching your hands. Even Miss Maiden also assisted in your healing. After the healing was complete, it was only a matter of waiting for you to regain consciousness, and you only regained consciousness five days after you were first found," said Teresia.

"So, I've been unconscious for five days. I apologize for the trouble. I must thank you and Miss Maiden later for helping heal me and caring for me," said Miss Violetta.

"It was my duty to care for you, Miss, so you don't need to thank me," said Teresia.

"You Holy Priests are always like this. By the way, am I the only one found in the flood? What about Lucas?" asked Miss Violetta.

"Sir Lucas was found one day after you. With Sir Lucas in that condition, it was impossible for us to save him, and even Miss Maiden couldn't revive him because Sir Lucas's death had passed the time limit for resurrection. Two days later, we held a funeral for Sir Lucas. We also held a mass funeral for the residents who died in the city destruction and flood," said Teresia.

"I see," said Miss Violetta.

Miss Violetta was devastated again upon hearing the news about Lucas. Her face looked sad, and her hands were shaking again. Teresia noticed Miss Violetta's trembling hands.

"Let's return to your previous room, Miss. You still don't seem to have fully recovered. I will take care of you," said Teresia.

"Ok," said Miss Violetta.

Miss Violetta and Teresia returned to the room where Miss Violetta had been treated.

-

A few days later, Miss Violetta was seen practicing her sword in front of a large building's courtyard. Atop the building was a large carving resembling the symbol worn by the Holy Knights on their uniforms. Furthermore, in the courtyard were numerous statues resembling human figures with two pairs of wings on their backs.

Miss Violetta continued to swing her sword. As she swung, her hands would occasionally tremble again, though the tremors weren't as frequent as before.

"Although the tremors in my hands aren't as frequent as before, I still feel uneasy. Even though Teresia, the other Holy Priests, and even Miss Maiden have helped heal me several times, the tremors haven't completely disappeared. If this continues, it will interfere with my duties as a Holy Knight," Miss Violetta thought.

Miss Violetta resumed swinging her sword. However, she suddenly remembered her fight with Undine and what had happened to Lucas and herself. Recalling this, Miss Violetta dropped the sword, and her hands began to tremble violently again. Miss Violetta fell to her knees with a blank stare. Several people who saw Miss Violetta in such a condition immediately rushed to Miss Violetta and helped her.
