Chapter 168 : Academy Festival Day Two

The next day, the second day of the Festival reopened at 8 a.m.

We, the members of Elevrad, resumed patrols to maintain security and safety at the academy. Today, I began my patrol inside the academy building. Although the academy building is open to the public, only the lobby and the central building are open. The first-fourth-year classrooms, as well as the building for the staff and principal, are closed to the public. The central building is only open to the public from the first to seventh floors, as is the academy library located below the first floor. The eighth and tenth floors, which are the academy tournament areas, have been closed to the public and will reopen for the next tournament.

I decided to go to the library to patrol. After arriving, after just a few steps, I saw Senior Gretta reading a book at one of the tables. I approached her.

"Hello, senior," I said.

"Hmm? Oh, Rid, hello too," said Senior Gretta.

"You've been here all day, haven't you, senior? I haven't seen you on patrol since yesterday. And this is my first time patrolling here," I said.

"Ahahaha, that's right. I've been patrolling here all day while reading a book. But don't worry, even though I look like I'm relaxing while reading, if there's a problem here, I'll take care of it right away," said senior Gretta.

"I trust you. But won't you get bored just patrolling here all the time? Since it's a festival, shouldn't you be enjoying the festival by checking out the booths? I see most of the Elevrad members patrolling around the vendor booths, and they're also enjoying the festival by browsing the merchandise," I said.

"No, I'm not bored here all the time. When I'm hungry, I also leave the library to check out the vendor booths. Well, even if I only go to the booths selling food," said senior Gretta.

"I see, well, at least you're still enjoying the festival, senior," I said.

"What about you, Rid? Why didn't you patrol the booths and instead chose to come here?" asked senior Gretta.

"Since there were already a lot of people patrolling around the booths, I decided to find a place where I thought no one was patrolling. Then I thought of this library, but I didn't expect it to become your headquarters, senior," I said.

"Ahahaha, you're so funny, Rid. You don't need to take your patrol duties too seriously, you can relax and enjoy the festival. The chairman said that before, right? Since this is your first festival, you might as well just enjoy it. As for me, I've enjoyed this festival in previous years, so this time I want to spend some time in the library. Besides, I'll be graduating from this academy soon. I won't be able to read books in this library anymore," said senior Gretta.

"Senior..." I said.

"Sorry, I made the atmosphere so sad. It's better if you go back to patrolling, Rid. You don't need to worry about this library, I'll take care of it," said Senior Gretta.

"Okay, then I'll go, Senior," I said.

"Yes," said Senior Gretta.

I left the library and chose to patrol elsewhere.

-

Meanwhile, in the shopping area.

I saw Irene had just taken firm action against three male visitors using force. The three men appeared unconscious. It seemed like a commotion had broken out.

"Are you all okay?" Irene asked the three women behind her.

"Y-yes, it's okay. Thank you for helping us. They initially invited us to enjoy the festival together, but we refused. But they didn't give up and forced us," said one of the women.

"It's okay, it's my job. You guys can continue with your activities; I'll take care of them," said Irene.

"Okay, thank you again," said the woman.

The three women then left, leaving Irene and the three unconscious men.

"The Ice Princess is so cool,"

"Not only is she beautiful, her cold demeanor is also very charming,"

"I heard she's currently dating someone. Anyone who gets to date the Ice Princess is very lucky," said the people around her.

Irene seemed unperturbed by the chatter around her. A few moments later, several knights assigned to guard the festival arrived. Irene handed the three unconscious men over to the knights. Then Irene went on patrol again.

-

Time passed until it was finally 12 noon.

Meanwhile, at the fountain in front of the academy lobby,

Chloe and Caroline had just bought some food from the booths around the area. They sat on the edge of the fountain, eating their food.

"Thankfully, the knights who escorted you yesterday came back to deliver your clothes. Otherwise, what would you wear during your stay here? You can't wear the same clothes you wore yesterday all the time, right?" Chloe asked.

"In that case, can't I just borrow Big Sis Chloe's clothes?" Caroline asked.

"My clothes are too big for you right now, Carol," Chloe said.

"That's true. But by the way, the food sold at this festival is all delicious, isn't it? I really want to try everything," Caroline said.

"We'll see what food we haven't tasted yet while I carry out my patrol duties. For now, let's finish the food we just bought," Chloe said.

"Okay," Caroline said.

As the two of them ate by the fountain, they looked out at the path leading to the academy gate. They saw a group of people walking towards them. Since the fountain was the first thing they encountered after entering the academy grounds, it was no surprise that Chloe and Caroline, sitting by the fountain, kept watching the people who had just arrived to participate in the academy festival.

But what caught their attention about this group of people was that they had brought slaves with them. The group of dozens of people each had one slave, meaning there were dozens of slaves in total. All the slaves they saw were Demi-Humans, none of them from other races.

"It was truly an unpleasant sight to see," Caroline said.

"Yes, you're right, Carol," Chloe said.

"Let's continue eating, big sis Chloe. After that, we'll go around again," Caroline said.

"Yes," Chloe said.

The two of them continued eating, while the group of people and slaves slowly began to approach them.

A few moments later, most of the group of people and slaves began to pass Chloe and Caroline, while Caroline continued to enjoy the food she had bought at the festival, ignoring the group of people and slaves that were beginning to pass by them. However, while Caroline was eating, she was suddenly attacked by two slaves passing by her. The two slaves used their claw attacks to attack Caroline, but Caroline quickly dodged the attack.

"Carol!!" Chloe said, shocked that her sister had been attacked.

"That was a close call, luckily I'm always alert in all situations. I'm fine, big sis, don't worry."

"Hey, you two, you're the masters of these two slaves, right? Please keep your slaves from attacking anyone," Caroline said.

However, instead of obeying Caroline's words, the two masters of the slaves who had attacked Caroline earlier also attacked Caroline. They created weapons from the elements and attacked Caroline with them, but Caroline managed to dodge the attacks.

"Carol!!!," Chloe said.

Chloe prepared to help Caroline, but she too was attacked by several slaves and their masters. However, Chloe managed to avoid the attacks.

The attack on Chloe and Caroline shocked everyone present.

"What's going on?"

"There's been an attack. Princess Chloe has been attacked by visitors and their slaves," they said.

Royal knights, academy staff, and other Elevrad members who were near Chloe and Caroline immediately prepared to apprehend the attackers. However, a group of people and the slaves they had brought with them, who had not previously attacked Chloe and Caroline, suddenly began attacking the knights, academy staff, Elevrad members, and other visitors nearby. A riot ensued.

~San Fulgen Art Wind Technique : Tornado Slash~

Caroline launched a slash using a rapier she had created from wind magic at the four attackers. The four people were hit by the slash and caught in the tornado created by Caroline's attack. Chloe also managed to defeat the attackers.

"It seems you've gotten stronger, Carol. You can even use the ~San Fulgen Art~," Chloe said.

"Of course, because I train every day. But this isn't over yet, big sis. There are still many people we have to defeat." Caroline said, looking around.

"You're right," Chloe said, also looking around.

Around them, there were still several people and Demi-Humans ready to attack them. They were all preparing to attack Chloe and Caroline with magic and weapons they had created from magic.

"It's no wonder they were able to get into this academy. They didn't carry any weapons, which is why they were allowed in. But they still use magic as their weapon. It seems they're aiming to disrupt this festival," Chloe said.

"I won't forgive them if this festival gets ruined, because I haven't tasted all the food here yet," Caroline said.

-

Meanwhile, the riot caused by a group of people and Demi-Humans, which had previously only occurred in front of the academy lobby, began to spread throughout the academy. All the Elevrad members, who were initially on patrol, received a call from the communication crystal that an attack had occurred at the festival. Therefore, the Elevrad members were given a new task, to hunt down and defeat the attackers, including me, who also went around defeating the attackers whose motives were unknown.

Senior Gretta, who was initially in the library, ran outside to defeat the attackers. When she exited the central building, she saw the attackers had already entered the academy building. Senior Gretta immediately attacked and defeated them.

"How did these attackers get into the academy grounds? What exactly are the knights and guards guarding the gate doing?" thought Senior Gretta.

-

Meanwhile, at the academy gate.

All the knights and guards guarding the gate had been defeated. Not only the guards, but also the visitors, both commoners and nobles, who were around the academy gate were also defeated. It was unknown whether they were still alive or dead. Meanwhile, several Demi-Humans were seen entering the academy grounds.

-

The attackers continued their indiscriminate attack. They attacked anyone they encountered, whether knights, students, or visitors from outside. They also damaged buildings and facilities they encountered. The attackers also began to break into the academy building, entering every building within, including the teaching staff and the principal's building.

-

In front of the academy lobby, about 30 minutes after the initial attack.

The scene appeared to be in complete chaos. The academy lobby was damaged, as was the fountain in front of it. The vendor booths were also destroyed. Many people, both human and demi-human, were lying around.

Meanwhile, Chloe and Caroline appeared to be seriously injured, and before them stood the bear demi-human who had previously fought Commander Keira in San Minerva City.

"He looks different from the other demi-humans we fought before, he seems to be the boss," Caroline said.

"Yes, I think you're right, Carol," Chloe said.

"Sorry to interrupt your conversation, but I'm not the boss. I may be the leader of the people who attacked this academy, but the boss isn't me," the bear demi-human said.

"It seems you can hear what we're saying even though we're keeping our voices down," Chloe said.

"That's right, because my hearing is sharp," the bear demi-human said.

"Let me ask you something. Why did you launch this attack? Is there something wrong with this academy that made you decide to attack it?" Chloe asked.

"There's nothing wrong with this academy. Our goal is to eliminate our target to achieve our goal. Since our target is in this academy, we have no choice but to attack it," said the bear demi-human.

"Who are these targets you're referring to?" Chloe asked.

"Hmm, well, I guess it's fine if I tell you. You two will be dead soon anyway."

"There are three targets we want to eliminate. Two of those three are you two," said the bear demi-human.

After saying that, the bear demi-human immediately threw a large arrow at Chloe and Caroline. He threw the arrow with his hand instead of a bow. The arrow shot swiftly toward Chloe and Caroline. Chloe and Caroline didn't have time to dodge the arrow. They seemed resigned to what was about to happen.

But suddenly, Irene and senior Gretta arrived, blocking the arrow with their respective weapons. Even though they had blocked the arrow, it still refused to stop and tried to break through.

"What insane power. Irene and I blocked the arrow, but it still wouldn't stop it," said Senior Gretta.

The two of them clashed with the arrow until, a few moments later, it was finally stopped.

"Are you two okay?" asked Senior Gretta.

"Well, at least our injuries aren't too serious," said Chloe.

"What's not too serious?" asked Senior Gretta.

Then Senior Gretta approached Chloe and Caroline. Senior Gretta healed them both. About a minute or two later, they were both fully recovered.

"Your healing magic is amazing, sis," said Caroline.

"Hehe, thank you. Now, you two go somewhere safe. Let Irene and I take care of that person," said Senior Gretta.

"Let me help, senior," said Chloe.

"I want to help too. I may be 11, but I can fight," said Caroline.

"Fine, four people are better than two against that guy anyway," said Gretta's senior.

The four of them began to prepare to attack the bear demi-human.

-

In the academy forest.

Several people and demi-humans were seen lying there. Several trees in the forest had also been destroyed and fallen. Meanwhile, Charles was standing, badly injured, clutching his stomach wound. Before him stood a jaguar demi-human named Ludmila.

"What is your purpose in coming here and attacking this academy?" Charles asked.

"Our purpose in attacking this academy is to kill the three children of Queen San Fulgen Kingdom. We heard that Princess Caroline is staying at this academy until the festival is over. Therefore, we decided to attack this academy, intending to kill all three of you while you're all in the same place," Ludmila said.

"What is your purpose in killing the three of us?" Charles asked.

"To start a war," Ludmila said.

"War?!?!," asked a shocked Charles.

"I won't tell you the details. Think about it and see for yourself what kind of war will break out from the other side," said Ludmila.

Ludmila intended to attack Charles with a palm strike imbued with mana. The palm strike was aimed at Charles's left chest, hoping it would strike his heart, which was on the left side of his chest, killing him instantly. However, before the blow could reach Charles, I blocked it with my sword.

"What?!?! Where did you come from?!?!," asked a shocked Ludmila.

"Rid?!?!," said Charles, equally shocked.

"You seem to be struggling, Charles. I've come to help you," I said.
