Chapter 35 – Five Gals Chatting, Four Contracts Binding, Three Faces Blushing, Two Damsels Dodging, And An Annoyed Paladin In A Pear Tree

"John is not from our world. He died in another world and was reincarnated here by a god. He has all the knowledge of his old world, which was far more advanced than our own." Nanaella said, watching the expressions on the group of women's faces.

They all had a different reaction to this news. Terra looked confused, a deep frown forming creases on her forehead. Iris looked shocked, just blinking at her with wide eyes. Evie looked thoughtful, one hand resting on her chin, her index finger tapping her lips in thought. Shallia, well she looked horny, leaning forward with eager anticipation. Nanaella swore she saw pink hearts in her eyes for a moment, but it was gone the next, her yellow cat eyes shining with with eagerness.

"Now, before I go into details, do any of you have immediate questions on this revelation?" Nanaella asked. She wanted to get everything out there, but wanted to make sure her audience was paying attention too.

Terra spoke first, her deep husky voice echoing through the room. "How do you know this? It's hard to believe he would just come out and say it and you all just believed him."

"No, we had suspicions of him for awhile now. From not being able to find any records of him anywhere prior to him showing up in Meritoni, the lack of common knowledge to the way this world works, the way he doesn't discriminate against beastfolk. These and several other things all pointed to the fact he was not from any of the nearby countries, so the vice-guild master started to make further inquires.

Eventually it was noticed when John was drinking and taking substance X, his lips would loosen quite a bit, and he had difficulty filtering what he would say, so they setup a plan to douse him and then question him on his origins. That didn't go quite as planned, but in an impromptu meeting with the guild master, he let out that he was not just not from a nearby nation, but in fact from another world." She said at length, condensing the weeks of research into John-Sama that Galba and his team performed, in to just a few sentences.

"So why all the secrecy then? Why are you concerned about marriage proposals he might not be able to refuse." Iris said, having regained her composure after the earlier revelation.

"Well, we believe that John will become the next Lord Reinstar, who was suspected to also have been a reincarnator. The adventurers guild intends to use him to reunite the humans and beastfolk peoples, all under one banner to face the demons. To do that he needs to get stronger before he is discovered by the government and the church. There will be many political alliances in his future, so I want to make sure he always has us to support him without him needing to worry about the politics involved." She said to her friend.

"Well that answers my question about the need for building this...harem for him. If he will be wielding such power eventually, it sounds like we will also be his bodyguards too." Evie said, leaning back in her seat.

"I hope to hire more adventures for that once we get stronger. We should be able to defend him, but that isn't the role I envision for us. I want us to be who he comes to to relieve his stress, to be people he can talk to and work through issues with, without us having political motivations behind it. If we as a group can be a source of strength for him, I hope he can make decisions with a clear mind." Nanaella said, then started to blush.

"Besides...I want him to have a large family, with a lot of children running around. With the five of us, we can do that, and make John-Sama happy in the process. He had a family before and he misses them greatly, and I want to see him smile with his children running around." She said, recalling the discussion they had in his room weeks ago before they started dating.

The women were silent for a moment, digesting her replies. Each had their own thoughts about having children, from Shallia wanting 'kittens' now, to Evie not even sure if it would be safe for her to have children at her age (once again, she is a old spinster by medieval standards). Iris and Terra were not sure if they wanted kids yet, but were willing to forgo the moon tea since John would be an ideal partner for them when they were ready to retire from adventuring in a few years. Sooner if they had the chance, it was a dangerous job after all.

"Any further questions? Or shall I start filling you all in with the short term details of the plan?" Nanaella said, pouring herself another tea.

No one spoke, so she started to talk about everything Brod and Galba had talked with John-Sama about, the new dungeon, training, and the plans to start travelling afterwards to meet with other guild masters once they were strong enough to defend themselves from most threats. Eventually they would reveal John-Sama to the world, but they wanted to make sure the Adventurer's Guild was solidly behind him before doing so. This would give him a powerbase that wasn't loyal to any one country, but to the people as a whole.

She then brought up their role, to support John-Sama through the leveling process, help build his personal power and their own. Then they would settle in to a more personal role, being his friends, his supports, to fight when needed but to keep close to him. Then, if willing, they would help him build a family, keep him focused on his goals and not on his lust when the waves of political marriages cropped up.

She blushed at that, realizing that she needed to do better herself at keeping his balls empty, like her friend advised her to do. (John has never mentioned any of this, even with Alec saying Harems are normal in many worlds, it still hasn't clicked with him yet.)

She wrapped up saying that everyone will end up with a role in this new future they wanted to build, but to keep focused on the short term goals of getting stronger first, and to develop their relationships with John-Sama.

They had a few minor questions, but for the most part they all needed more time to digest all the information she had given them. They ended the meeting then, agreeing to depart for the new dungeon in two days. They filed out of the room then, Iris giving Nanaella a quick look before following Evie out, the pair off to discuss some things. Terra paused at the door, struggling with something.

"What's wrong Terra?" She asked.

"Do...do you think he will like to be with...well a woman like me?" Terra asked her nervously, gesturing to her muscular body.

Nanaella looked at the white haired woman for a moment. She was very strong looking, her arms larger than most men, rippling with corded muscle. If it wasn't for her feminine face and large breasts, it was possible she could be mistaken for a man. Her eyes though, the greys lined with silver streaks, were beautiful. She was sure John-Sama would fall in love with her for those alone.

"You are beautiful Terra, and if you are protecting him, he will fall in love with you, muscles and all. So don't worry about it." She said, then approached the frostbear, wrapping her arms around her in a hug. "Let's do this together, okay?"

Terra, startled at the unexpected contact, stood still for a moment, then hugged the shorter woman back. They held it for a moment, then released, Terra suddenly feeling a bit better about this new life she agreed to.

"Besides, he is taller than you, and he has a fair amount of muscles himself. He won't be walking around with a kite shield and plate mail like you, but he isn't weak, just... fragile at times." Nanaella said, with a little giggle at the end.

"Who is fragile?" John said, walking into the room.

"John-Sama! Oh umm, this is Terra, your parties shielder. We were just... discussing how she would need to protect Iris and Evie, your tamer and mage."

"Ahh... well I am pretty fragile right now too, so I am glad you are here. Welcome to the team Terra." John said, extending a hand to the tall beastfolk woman.

"Ah...yes...I...I am happy to be here John-Sama." She said, shaking his hand. "Anyways, I need to... run... yeah, can't skip on my exercise routine!" She said, and darted out of the room.

John scratched his head for a moment. "Did I say something wrong?"

"No, they are all a bit nervous. You just missed the rest of them. Tomorrow they will be preparing for our departure the next morning." She said, then grabbed his hands. "John-Sama, can we...go to bed now? I... want to try something different tonight."

John looked at his fiancée then, a smile growing on his face. "Lets go."

The pair of them left the room, holding each others hand.

A shimmer in the corner of the room sighed, not understanding where he went wrong with his disciple.

"At least she is happy" the shimmer said, then disappeared again.

On the Road between the Capitol and Meritoni...

"Apologies Ma'am, but the carriage won't be able to be fixed until tomorrow." The coachman said, bowing his head slightly to Lumina.

"Very well. Do your best, and recruit the local villagers tomorrow if you need to. We need to get to Meritoni as soon as possible." She told him, trying her best not to grit her teeth.

The man nodded and left the tent, the darkness outside swallowing his form. She sighed then, knowing that it wasn't his fault that the fancy carriage failed. It was hers. They had been pushing hard, faster than a carriage like that was designed to travel. It was empty right now, with the rest of her regiment mounted, so they had been trying to keep their speed up to arrive at Meritoni as soon as possible. The sooner they got there, the sooner they could return.

Now we have lost all the time we gained, and will lose even more, just because one of the wheels caught a rut the wrong way and cracked.

She leaned back in the small campaign chair she brought with her, her bedroll forgotten about for the time being. She was too frustrated to try and sleep right now. She thought back to the meeting she had with the Pope a few days back, when they received this mission.

The throne room was massive, white marble walls, thick red and gold carpeting, massive windows lining bother walls. The Pope's throne was elevated above them all, pushed back into a large alcove. It was hidden behind a thin curtain, the veil sheer enough that you could only see the silhouette of the demure woman behind it.

"Commander Lumina, you shall make your way to Meritoni in all haste and retrieve this healer who has affinities to all magics. Provide him the respect and courtesies as if he was a visiting ruler from another nation. If he is who I suspect he is, he may lead us to a brighter future." She said, her melodious voice echoing around the throne room.

Why would we need to treat a healer like some foreign ruler though? As a healer, he is technically part of the church and the Pope was his boss. None of this makes sense.

The Pope didn't illuminate the Commander further on her rationale for the VIP treatment of this healer, leaving her to guess the actual reasoning for this decision. They left the next day, the thirteen members of the Valkyrie regiment, four maids who could also act as chefs, and the one aging coachman, along with a string of pack horses to setup pavilions every night for the return journey to give this 'John Wayne' a royal escort on the way back to the capitol.

It was madness.

She sighed again. She hoped she could find that man again that she tried to help in the healers guild...Jack? Jackson? She couldn't remember his name for the life of her, but she would remember his aura...it was so intriguing.

With that she nodded off in the small chair, a smile forming on her face thinking of what she would do when she met that man again.
