Chapter 343 - 343: Sect
"Hmm? What do you need?" the blue-robed Elder asked in a flat tone, turning around and fixing his gaze on Wang Feng.
Wang Feng struggled to suppress the churning rage in his heart, forcing a respectful expression onto his face as he slowly said, "Elder, my son, Wang Hu, was ranked second on the assessment list just two days ago, but for some unknown reason, he suddenly disappeared from the list."
"I am truly worried and wish to know what exactly he experienced during the assessment."
"For assessments, I only look at the results, not the process. What your son experienced, I neither know nor wish to know," the blue-robed Elder said indifferently.
Upon hearing this, Wang Feng felt as if a basin of cold water had been poured over him. A suffocating rage burned in his chest, yet he dared not show the slightest hint of it.
After all, the other party was an Elder of the Eastern Luo Sect, whose status was far beyond what his small Wang family could provoke. No matter how dissatisfied he was, he could only endure it.
Wang Feng forcefully suppressed the anger in his heart, maintaining a respectful attitude as he continued to ask, "I humbly request the Elder's grace to allow me to speak a few words with the clansmen who passed the assessment, so I can ask if they know anything about the situation?"
The blue-robed Elder frowned impatiently but still nodded, saying, "Hmm, you may ask, but don't delay too long."
Upon receiving permission, Wang Feng immediately questioned the Wang family disciples who had passed the assessment.
"Does anyone know who Xiao Hu met before his incident? And who is the expert ranked first?"
One of the Wang family disciples quickly raised his hand, pointing to Fang Hong, who was standing in the crowd, and whispered, "Patriarch, the first place is him, named Fang Hong. We saw him during registration that day and remember his name and appearance."
Wang Feng looked in the direction the disciple pointed, and when he saw the cultivation aura emanating from Fang Hong, he was completely stunned.
"True Immortal Seventh Layer? How is he only True Immortal Seventh Layer?"
He had previously assumed that the first-place candidate in the assessment had killed his son, as only the first-place candidate had the strength to contend with Wang Hu.
But now, seeing that Fang Hong only had True Immortal Seventh Layer Cultivation, he was utterly bewildered.
His son was at True Immortal Perfection, possessed three Fourth-Grade Immortal Artifacts, and even had a teleportation talisman for escape. How could a Cultivator at True Immortal Seventh Layer possibly kill his son?
"Young friend, I would like to ask you, during the assessment process, did you ever see my son, Wang Hu?"
"Furthermore, with your True Immortal Seventh Layer Cultivation, how did you manage to stand out among so many experts and secure first place?" Wang Feng asked Fang Hong, filled with doubts and a hint of scrutiny and ill will in his eyes.
As soon as Wang Feng's words left his mouth, everyone in the square turned their gaze towards Fang Hong.
Everyone also wanted to know what method this seemingly unremarkable True Immortal Seventh Layer Cultivator had used to obtain so much Karma value and still secure first place in an assessment brimming with experts.
Fang Hong frowned. Before he could even answer, the blue-robed Elder said somewhat impatiently, "Enough. Stop asking so many questions. This matter ends here."
No sooner had he spoken than the blue-robed Elder raised his hand and produced a palm-sized black disc, slowly infusing Immortal Qi into it.
As the Immortal Qi surged, the black disc rapidly expanded, instantly growing to a size capable of holding over a hundred people.
Fang Hong could clearly feel that this disc emitted spatial fluctuations, indicating it was likely a spatial-type Immortal Artifact.
"Come up, everyone. We are returning to the sect."
The blue-robed Elder flashed onto the black disc first, and the hundred disciples quickly followed.
To be able to join a top sect like the Eastern Luo Sect for cultivation was an opportunity these cultivators had dreamed of.
Once everyone was standing on the disc, the blue-robed Elder no longer hesitated, swiftly forming hand seals and continuously infusing Immortal Qi into the disc.
With a soft whoosh, the black disc, carrying everyone, vanished into thin air above the square, leaving no trace behind, evidently having been teleported away.
The Cultivators who had been watching the excitement around the square, seeing that the assessment had ended, lost interest in staying and dispersed, discussing in small groups.
In the blink of an eye, the bustling square quieted down, leaving only the Wang family contingent still frozen in place, their expressions varied.
Wang Feng stood in the center of the square, his hands clenched tightly into fists, his face terribly grim.
His son, Wang Hu, was missing, his fate unknown, yet the suspected killer had left with the people from the Eastern Luo Sect. The boundless rage in his heart found no outlet and could only churn and burn within his chest.
"You all say, could it really be that kid's doing? Just now in the square, he looked so calm," one of the Wang family Elders whispered, speculating.
Another Elder nearby immediately shook his head.
"Unlikely, right? That kid is only at True Immortal Seventh Layer Cultivation, while Xiao Hu not only had higher Cultivation but also carried Aurora Shoes and a Void Evasion Talisman."
"Those two items are life-saving treasures. Even if he couldn't win, escaping should have been no problem. How could he have fallen into that kid's hands?"
"You can't say that. Perhaps that kid was hiding some secret killing weapon we don't know about?"
"Or perhaps, it was that girl from the Lin family."
Several Elders of the Wang family gathered together, whispering and speculating back and forth.
But after much discussion, most still felt that, given Fang Hong's strength, it was unlikely he could have killed Wang Hu.
"No matter what the truth is, that kid is highly suspicious, and I will absolutely not let him go. We'll return to the manor first."
Wang Feng abruptly flung his hand, his tone terrifyingly cold, suppressing the anger in his heart, and turned to fly in the direction of the Wang family manor.
Seeing that the Patriarch had spoken, everyone of the Wang family dared not say anything more and reluctantly followed Wang Feng.
On the other side, the blue-robed Elder continuously activated the teleportation disc, which rapidly traversed through the spatial aisle.
In just a few breaths, the surrounding spatial fluctuations gradually subsided. Everyone felt a blur before their eyes and found themselves in a completely unfamiliar place.
The teleportation disc, carrying everyone, floated steadily in mid-air.
Fang Hong and the other new disciples looked up together, seeing below an endless expanse of mountains, peaks soaring into the clouds, and mist swirling among them, like an Immortal realm.
Streams meandered through the valleys, trees covered most of the mountain slopes, and the picturesque scenery brightened everyone's eyes.
Through the mist, various uniquely shaped pavilions could be vaguely seen built against the mountains, some on the peaks, some suspended halfway up, scattered yet orderly, full of Immortal grandeur.
What surprised everyone even more was that the Immortal Qi concentration here was dozens of times thicker than in Ascension City. Such a place was simply a blessed land that Cultivators dreamed of.
