Chapter 254 - 237: War Begins! Rivers of Blood (Super - )
The boundary between the Dawn Tribe and the Ironblood Tribe.
Thunder Cliff.
Brunhild stood atop the cliff, his helmet inlaid with mammoth tusks glowing under the storm clouds, the fierce wind blowing against him, his wolfskin cloak flapping like a battle flag. His exposed skin was covered with tattoos, his muscles like forged steel, his body like an iron tower.
He was the leader of the Dawn Tribe, a Barbarian wielding the power of Fury.
Before activating his fury, Brunhild appeared as a calm human leader, his gaze steady, his expression serene, yet his presence exuded a mix of various qualities, as if he wasn’t a single person but ’a crowd’.
In fact, this was largely the case.
If a being proficient in true vision carefully observed, they would see numerous ethereal figures floating around Brunhild, each possessing a leader-like aura—wise and calm, commanding without anger, rebellious and unyielding... distinctly different.
Barbarians have many branch paths to choose from after reaching level 3.
Such as the Giant Path, Totem Warrior Path, Berserk Path, Wild Magic Path... Among these paths, the one Brunhild followed is called Ancestral Guard.
When the living honor the culture of their ancestors and fight for the continuation of the tribe,
the Ancestral Essence will also guide and protect the living.
And when a Barbarian on this path enters a state of rage and frenzy, they can access the Soul World, clearly feeling the presence of the Ancestral Essence and gain various powers through different ancestral spirits.
Brunhild gazed towards the south.
What he saw was the endless sky and earth, the sunlight pouring down calmly, yet he envisioned scenes of raging warfare, the sky ablaze, the land turning to scorched earth.
"Molten Iron Tribe..."
Brunhild turned to look at the Beastman standing on the other side and said: "Ugosh, the Molten Iron Tribe is gradually assimilating the Golden Tooth Tribe, growing stronger by the day, we can’t wait any longer."
The Beastman’s body was tall and burly, even more robust than Brunhild.
He had a slanting forehead, protruding jaw, prominent tusks, and rough green skin. He was about the height of a human, but his width was much greater.
Due to their racial traits, the Beastmen produce many Warriors and Barbarians.
Like Brunhild, Ugosh was also a Barbarian.
However, their branch paths were different.
Ugosh’s Barbarian path was the Totem Warrior.
This was evident from the War Bear Skull Shoulder Armor, Eagle Feather Cloak, Wolf Claw Necklace, and other garments symbolizing totem beasts he wore.
Barbarians on the Totem Warrior Path use beast spirits as guides, protectors, and sources of power, during a frenzy, the spirit essence of the beasts infuses the Barbarians with supernatural strength, imbuing their rage with magical power.
"The Snakefolk of the Poison Tail Tribe haven’t responded yet, these indecisive guys say they need a few more days to consider," the Beastman said in a heavy tone.
Brunhild sneered and said, "Those swamp-dwellers aren’t trustworthy. They lack the courage and honor of blood, preferring to toy with cheap magic tricks. They’re not dependable at crucial times."
Ugosh nodded heavily: "After the war with the Molten Iron Tribe, let’s crush the Poison-tailed Snakefolk together."
"Good! I’ve already found those Snakefolk displeasing for a long time," the human replied.
The Poison Tail Tribe is quite limited, lacking in direct combat capabilities.
Among them, only the Six-armed Snake Woman Sword Saint is somewhat feared, while the other Warlock Shamans, although numerous, don’t pose much threat to high-level Barbarians like them, especially since they also have Warriors and Warlock Shamans under their command, making them more comprehensive than the Poison Tail Tribe.
The Beastman grinned, revealing his tusks, flashing a vicious smile.
He spoke to the human: "After this, Brunhild, are you ready to face me in a final battle? To decide victory or death, and the final ownership of the Border Area."
Brunhild met the Beastman’s gaze and said, "Victory will eventually belong to me, Ugosh, and if you beg for mercy then, I’ll spare your life."
Ugosh patted his chest: "Beastmen will never be slaves, death is an honor to us, but I don’t think you can bestow death upon me." He didn’t hide his malice toward the human: "You’re a powerful opponent, but I will ultimately wring your neck and peel your skin to keep as a trophy."
Brunhild and Ugosh.
Both were Barbarians and leaders of the two major tribes.
They had a close cooperative relationship yet were also competitors, having engaged in many private battles, yet none entered a state of rage, always stopping just short.
They knew well that once they fought in a fury, it would be a fight to the death, and it would mean a full-scale war between the Dawn Tribe and the Ironblood Tribe, a life-or-death struggle.
The several major tribes coexisted in the Border Area.
If they went to war fully, it would only present opportunities to other tribes and be pointless.
But when only the Dawn and Ironblood remain in the Border Area, they had promised to engage in a sacred and honorable duel to decide the area’s ownership.
"That’s a matter for later, let’s talk about how to deal with the Molten Iron Tribe first," Brunhild said. "We can’t pin our hopes on the Poison Tail Tribe. Those Snakefolk are unpredictable, dark, and cunning, not trustable."
The straightforward Beastman likewise disliked the Snakefolk.
Ugosh nodded, his voice low: "My blade thirsts for blood, and it can’t wait to sever the head of the Dragon Race."
