Chapter 268 - 244: Jade Realm at 20
Inside the grotto of the Chaos Secret Realm, the crowd watched Xiao Mo give up the chance to have the Chaos acknowledge him as its father. They were stunned into silence, thinking he must be insane!
This was a Chaos!
One of the Four Ancient Fierce Beasts!
If it was allowed to mature, a Chaos would possess the fighting strength of at least an Ascension Realm cultivator—and potentially even surpass that!
And it would be absolutely loyal, never betraying him!
They looked at Xiao Mo, wishing they could trade places with him.
Wangxin, by contrast, looked perfectly calm.
It was as if she had already guessed what Xiao Mo would do.
Si Li, however, felt a pang of regret for Xiao Mo, thinking her young master shouldn’t have passed up such a golden opportunity.
But as Si Li watched Xiao Mo and the little Chaos, she felt a warmth spread through her heart, an emotion she couldn’t quite name.
’Xiao Mo is truly different, unlike any other man in the world.’
’But a man this different... he’s like a book I want to read, page by page, until I understand him completely.’
As the Chaos cub nuzzled its mother’s body, the corpse gradually dissolved into black motes of Spiritual Power. They scattered into the air like a swarm of fireflies, seeming to return to the earth and sky.
"Migu... migu migu... migu..."
The Chaos mother’s voice echoed through the grotto, sounding like a final testament to her child as her soul faded away.
"Migu migu..." The Little Chaos hopped about, trying to catch the specks of light, but they always slipped through its grasp.
"Migu."
As the last echo of the Chaos mother’s voice faded, the black motes of light vanished completely.
RUMBLE...
Just as everyone was lost in their own thoughts, the entire grotto began to shake violently.
The space around them began to crack and crumble like a peeling eggshell.
"Migu migu..."
The Little Chaos jumped in fright, looking left and right. Though newly born and understanding nothing, it could sense the danger.
A moment later, Xiao Mo felt the flight-restricting Law of the Chaos Secret Realm vanish.
A distorted blue portal, identical to their entrance, appeared in the air above the grotto.
Everyone cast one last, reluctant glance at the Chaos cub, knowing it was impossible to snatch it away from Xiao Mo.
Without further hesitation, the cultivators flew toward the exit.
"Young Master, the Chaos Secret Realm is about to collapse! We should go," Si Li urged, flying anxiously to Xiao Mo’s side.
Xiao Mo nodded. He held out his hand to the Chaos cub. "Are you coming?"
"Migu..."
The Chaos cub padded over to Xiao Mo, its small, soft pink body nuzzling his palm.
"But I need to be honest with you," Xiao Mo said, unsure if the cub could understand. "Your mother tried to kill me, so we fought. In the end, she died at my hands."
"Migu... migu migu..." the Little Chaos chirped a few times.
"What does that mean?"
Xiao Mo’s brow furrowed.
’It can understand me, but I can’t understand it.’
"Um... the Little Chaos is saying that as its mother was passing, she told it that you’re not a bad person, Xiao Mo. She said that from now on, you’ll be its father, and it should listen to you," Wangxin translated from the side.
"You can understand it?" Xiao Mo asked, somewhat surprised.
"Mhm." Wangxin nodded. "After I reached the Golden Core Realm, I gained the ability to understand some High-Grade Magical Beasts."
"Is that right?"
Xiao Mo asked the Chaos, seeking confirmation.
"Migu." The Chaos seemed to nod before leaping into Xiao Mo’s arms.
"Then let’s go."
Xiao Mo stood up and flew toward the exit with the Chaos cub and Wangxin.
The instant Xiao Mo and his companions left, the entire grotto collapsed, burying the dead Chaos within.
At the same time, other parts of the Chaos Secret Realm also began to collapse.
Although the cultivators still within the Secret Realm didn’t know what was happening, they knew they couldn’t stay. They hurried through the blue portals that had appeared in the sky, making their escape.
After a disorienting flash, Xiao Mo and the others found themselves back in the small basin.
They turned to see the scroll that had been floating in the air burn away, turning to ash.
Any cultivators who didn’t make it out in time were annihilated along with the Secret Realm.
The Sect Elders sighed in relief upon seeing their disciples emerge. They hurried forward to check them for injuries.
They were overjoyed to learn that their disciples had seized fortuitous opportunities.
But many other Sect Elders’ faces were ashen; the disciples they had brought with them had all been left behind in the Chaos Secret Realm, completely wiped out.
But the most eye-catching of all was Xiao Mo.
And for one simple reason.
A strange, pink, ball-shaped creature was perched on his head, looking around nervously.
They quickly recognized it: the legendary Chaos, and a cub at that!
"Excellent! As expected of the Blood Demon’s disciple! I knew you possessed great Qi Fortune, Xiao Mo. You truly haven’t disappointed me."
Luo Jie, the Sect Leader of the Black Dragon Sect, stepped forward, stroking his beard with a pleased and gratified expression.
His greatest fear had been that the Chaos would fall into the hands of the Emperor Beast Sect.
He never imagined that not only would it avoid the Emperor Beast Sect, but it would end up with Xiao Mo.
’Then again,’ he mused, ’why is this Chaos so small? It looks like it was just born...’
Just as more and more eyes were drawn to the creature on Xiao Mo’s head, several streaks of light descended from the sky.
The crushing pressure of the Ascension Realm bore down on the crowd.
The light faded to reveal Tang Beifeng, the Sect Leader of the Emperor Beast Sect. He stared coldly at the Chaos on Xiao Mo’s head, his brows furrowed in a deep frown.
