Chapter 855 - 382: Destroying the Blood Corpse with a Formation, the Reason for Betrayal
In an instant, a thick stench of blood shot into the sky. Beneath the Cui Clan Territory lay a massive Blood Pool!
The pool water was scarlet and churning with waves of gore, the frothing surface littered with pale, swollen, severed limbs. Its scale far exceeded the Blood Pool Li Chang’an and Zi Xi had discovered in the Northern Domain.
"How is this possible?" Cui Ling stared at the Blood Pool in utter disbelief, his mind reeling.
He had just staked his personal reputation to vouch for the Cui family, swearing up and down that they would never collude with Demonic cultivators. Yet, in the blink of an eye, this gruesome scene had materialized right before him. To form a Blood Pool of such monstrous proportions, an unimaginable amount of slaughter must have taken place.
In the distant Immortal City, the crowd standing atop the towering walls watched in stunned silence.
"A Blood Pool! It’s a Blood Pool!"
"The Cui family actually killed this many people..."
Previously, most of them thought Li Chang’an’s claim of "colluding with the Demonic" was just an excuse to slaughter the Cui family. But this shocking Blood Pool immediately reversed everyone’s thoughts. Although many had never seen a Blood Pool, they had long heard disciples of major Nascent Soul Sects preach about the atrocities of such things.
Many people present turned to look at Cui Yan.
"Daoist Cui, has the Cui family truly colluded with Demonic forces? If not, why would they create this Blood Pool?"
"How should I know? I’m not even a member of their family!" Cui Yan cursed his bad luck inwardly and hastily distanced himself from the Cui family. He felt a pang of intense regret; he never should have acted so close to them earlier.
Sharing in his regret was Lin Baizhi, who stood not far away. She had previously urged Li Chang’an to be magnanimous. She had no ties of blood or friendship with the Cui family, so why had she felt the need to stand up for them?
"Master was right. When traveling abroad, don’t meddle in things that don’t concern you," Lin Baizhi thought with bitter regret. Those brief words of persuasion had not only offended Li Chang’an—a Nascent Soul True Monarch—but might also lead others to suspect she was involved with the Demonic forces. Once suspected, there was no way her sect would ever grant her Nascent Soul resources again.
"Elder Li, I was in the wrong earlier," she sent via Sound Transmission, hoping to apologize.
But Li Chang’an couldn’t be bothered to pay her any mind. He was currently sensing the auras of the three Netherworld Blood Corpses mentioned in the Divination. Based on his past experience, those three blood corpses should be slumbering in coffins at the very bottom of the Blood Pool.
"Go!" Li Chang’an deployed a Puppet. He controlled the Puppet to leap into the Blood Pool, diving straight for the bottom.
Meanwhile.
Cui Ling’s face was livid as he harshly interrogated Cui Niande. "Niande, what is the meaning of this? I demand an explanation!"
"This... this..." Cui Niande was stricken with panic, his voice trembling uncontrollably. "I... I don’t know either! How could such a massive Blood Pool appear beneath the Cui Clan Territory?"
"You truly don’t know?"
"Patriarch, I really don’t!" Cui Niande shook his head vigorously, his face deathly pale. He tried desperately to deny it and distance himself, but his expression gave everything away. He was deeply involved with this massive Blood Pool.
Suddenly, a deafening roar erupted from within the Blood Pool.
RUMBLE!
The scarlet water churned as if boiling over. Three blood-red coffins abruptly shot out of the lake. With three explosive bangs, the coffins shattered in unison, revealing three Netherworld Blood Corpses that had been nurtured to Tier Four.
"ROAR—" They shrieked together, their faces twisted in savage grimaces. Shrouded in scarlet Blood Qi, they charged at Li Chang’an.
Li Chang’an’s expression remained completely unchanged as he coldly commanded, "Suppress!"
The Tier Four Grand Array operated at full capacity, drawing in a massive amount of Spiritual Power. In the next instant, three dazzling streaks of Spiritual Light descended from the sky like divine punishment, ruthlessly blasting into the three Netherworld Blood Corpses.
Before they could even get close to Li Chang’an, they were smashed back into the Blood Pool, kicking up monstrous waves of gore.
BOOM!
The bloody water exploded outward as the three blood corpses flew back out. They were not lacking in intelligence; realizing that Li Chang’an was not someone to be trifled with, they immediately transformed into three streaks of bloody light, fleeing in three different directions.
However, the Array quickly blocked their escape routes.
"Still trying to run?" Li Chang’an sneered. Harnessing the Array Power, he relentlessly bombarded the three blood corpses.
Seeing that escape was impossible, the three blood corpses turned back and charged at Li Chang’an, attempting to kill the Array’s controller. But it was all in vain. In less than half a quarter-hour, two of the blood corpses were obliterated by the Array.
Those two blood corpses weren’t particularly strong, barely reaching Tier Four—equivalent to the weakest Fake Soul cultivators. The final blood corpse possessed much greater strength, nearing that of a True Soul Cultivator.
Even so, it only managed to hold out for a brief moment longer. Before long, with an unwilling howl of despair, the creature exploded in midair, reduced to a mist of blood.
"Burn!" With a mere thought from Li Chang’an, scorching flames cascaded from the heavens, incinerating all the blood mist into nothingness.
Thus, these three blood corpses—which were supposed to deal a devastating blow to the Righteous Dao—met their demise at Li Chang’an’s hands.
Through this brief exchange, Li Chang’an gained a deeper understanding of these Demonic creations.
"Although these blood corpses have reached Tier Four in strength, they don’t know any Magic. They can only use their raw physical power in the crudest of ways," he thought. "Even if I were besieged by over a dozen of them, I could easily escape even if I couldn’t win. Let alone the renowned Black Tortoise True Monarch! It seems there really is something fishy about the Black Tortoise True Monarch’s death..."
Li Chang’an had long been wary of the Black Tortoise Sect’s young Holy Fire True Monarch. "If I ever have to deal with him in the future, I must be extremely cautious!"
Afterward, Li Chang’an turned his gaze toward the Cui Clan Territory. Since all the Cui Clan Members had been subdued by the Array, the territory was completely deserted. Channeling his Magical Power, he forcibly uprooted the Cui Family Treasure Vault and the Library Pavilion, tossing them into his Storage Pouch.
"Although the Cui family is merely a Golden Core Family, Alchemy is an incredibly lucrative path," he mused. "They even have quite a few Tier Four Treasures. I’ll take my time taking inventory once I get back."
