Chapter 438: Sweet love
The bedroom was darker than the main room had been, lit only by the pale rectangle of the terrace doors and the small lamp Dean had left burning beside their bed. Arion set him down near the edge of the mattress but didn’t step back.
Dean looked up at him.
The sight of his husband still did something complicated to his chest. Something that had nothing to do with the bond mark humming at his nape and everything to do with the way Arion was watching him now. Focused. Patient in a way that suggested patience was a temporary courtesy.
"You’re staring," Dean said.
"Yes."
"Any particular reason?"
Arion’s hand came up to Dean’s jaw, thumb tracing the corner of his mouth. "You’re still dressed."
"An oversight."
"I agree."
Dean reached for the hem of his sweater and pulled it over his head. Dropped it somewhere to the left. Didn’t care where.
Arion’s gaze traveled slowly down his chest.
"Better?" Dean asked.
"Getting there."
The towel went first. Arion untucked it without ceremony and let it fall, and then there was nothing between them but the warm villa air and Dean’s remaining clothing. The difference in their states of undress had become almost offensive.
Dean hooked his fingers into the waistband of his pants. Pushed them down. Kicked them free.
"There," he said. "Equity."
Arion’s mouth curved.
Then he stepped forward, and Dean found himself guided backward onto the bed, Arion following him down, one arm braced beside his shoulder while the other hand settled against his hip.
The weight was familiar. Grounding. Dean’s legs parted to accommodate him without conscious thought, his body knowing what to do before his mind caught up.
Arion kissed his collarbone.
Dean’s breath hitched.
"Slow," Arion murmured against his skin.
"You said sleep."
"I lied."
Dean’s laugh broke into a gasp when Arion’s mouth found the hollow of his throat.
"You’re still worried," Arion said. Not a question.
Dean’s fingers found the back of his neck. "I’m trying not to be."
"Let me help."
It wasn’t a request.
Arion shifted lower. His mouth traced a path down Dean’s sternum, pausing to linger over his heart. Dean could feel it beating against his ribs, probably harder than necessary, certainly hard enough for Arion to notice.
Arion’s hand slid from Dean’s hip to his inner thigh, pressing gently outward. Dean let his knees fall wider.
"Beautiful," Arion said quietly.
Dean’s face heated. "You’re biased."
"I’m observant."
The first touch of Arion’s fingers between his legs made Dean’s hips lift. Just a brush. Barely there. Dean’s body didn’t care about barely there. His body had been paying attention since the table in the other room, and the evidence of that was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
Arion’s thumb circled once. Twice.
Dean made a sound he hadn’t planned on making.
"There," Arion said, satisfaction threading through the single word. "Stay like that."
The nightstand drawer opened and closed. Dean heard the click of a cap. Then cool slickness against his entrance, and Arion’s finger pressing in with a slowness that bordered on cruel.
Dean’s eyes closed.
"You’re tight," Arion observed.
"You’re enormous. We’ve established this."
Arion laughed, low and surprised, and Dean opened his eyes to witness it. The sound still got to him. Arion laughing was rare enough to be precious, and Dean collected these moments like evidence that somewhere beneath the alpha posturing and the political calculations, his husband was happy.
"How do you want me?" Dean asked.
Arion’s finger stilled. "What?"
"How do you want me? On my back. On my stomach. On my—"
"I want you to stop thinking about Snake Island."
"That’s not a position."
"It’s a request." Arion withdrew his finger and added a second, and Dean’s clever response died in his throat. "Think about this instead. Think about me."
"Arrogant," Dean managed.
"Accurate."
Two fingers became three, stretching him with a patience that Dean normally appreciated. Tonight it felt like torment. The slow drag and curl, the way Arion watched his face for every reaction, cataloguing each flutter of Dean’s lashes like intelligence worth gathering.
"Enough," Dean said.
"Not yet."
"You’re not the one—" Dean’s voice broke when Arion’s fingers found a particular angle. "That’s cheating."
"I’m not playing fair."
Arion withdrew his hand, and Dean’s protest was swallowed by the sight of him reaching for the loube again. They had discovered that Dean on birth control had become drier, and Arion made sure that nothing hurt unless Dean wanted it. His cock was fully hard now, curving up toward his stomach, and Dean’s mouth went dry at the familiar sight.
"Ready?" Arion asked.
"Ask me again and I’ll—"
Arion pushed inside.
Dean’s words scattered.
The stretch was overwhelming, always was, that first moment when his body had to remember how to accommodate someone built on Arion’s scale. Dean breathed through it. Focused on the weight of Arion’s hand on his hip, the press of his forehead against Dean’s temple, the way he’d gone completely still to let him adjust.
"There," Arion murmured. "Good?"
Dean nodded. Swallowed. "Good."
Arion began to move.
Slow. So slow that Dean could feel every inch of him, the drag and retreat, the way his body clung when Arion pulled back.
Dean wrapped his legs around Arion’s waist.
"Better," Arion said approvingly.
"You talk too much."
"You complain too much."
Arion shifted his angle, and Dean’s complaint transformed into something closer to a moan. The new position put pressure exactly where he needed it, and Arion knew. Of course he knew. He’d spent every moment learning Dean’s body with the same meticulous attention he gave to military campaigns.
"There," Arion said again. "That’s it."
Dean’s nails dug into his shoulders.
The pleasure built slowly, the way Arion intended. Not the sharp peak of their first year together, when everything had been new and desperate. This was deeper. A bone-level warmth spreading farther from where they were joined, making Dean’s toes curl and his breath stutter.
"I’m close," Dean warned.
"I know."
"Ari—"
Arion’s hand slipped between them. Found Dean’s cock. Stroked in time with his thrusts.
Dean’s vision whited at the edges.
The orgasm hit him like a held breath finally released. Not the violent clench of some nights, but something that seemed to go on and on, pulled from him by Arion’s rhythm. Dean felt himself pulse around Arion’s cock and felt the wet heat of his own release spilling across his stomach, and through it all, Arion kept moving. Kept watching.
Then Arion’s rhythm stuttered.
His hips pressed flush against Dean’s ass, and Dean felt the first hot pulse of his release deep inside. Another. Another. Arion buried his face against Dean’s neck and groaned, a sound that vibrated through Dean’s collarbone and settled somewhere in his chest.
They stayed like that for a long moment.
Then Arion moved to withdraw, and Dean’s legs tightened around him.
"Stay," Dean said.
Arion stilled. "Dean—"
"Just for a minute."
Dean could feel him still inside, softening but present. Could feel the warmth of his release beginning to seep down. The mess was going to be considerable. Dean didn’t care.
"You’re going to regret this," Arion said.
"Probably."
Arion kissed his jaw.
Dean closed his eyes and let himself feel it. The fullness. The warmth. The possessive weight of his husband’s body pressed against his own.
"Dean." Arion’s voice had gone rough.
"I want to feel it." Dean’s fingers came away wet. "I want to feel you."
Arion made a sound Dean couldn’t interpret.
Then he moved.
Not withdrawing. Pulling Dean with him as he rolled onto his back, settling Dean astride his hips with the kind of casual strength that still made Dean’s stomach flip. Gravity shifted. Dean felt Arion’s release slide deeper, and a small gasp escaped him.
"If you want to feel it," Arion said, hands settling on Dean’s thighs, "then feel it properly."
Dean braced his palms against Arion’s chest.
And slowly, deliberately, began to move.
