Chapter 89 - 89: Black Rose Poison
I immediately opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was the ceiling of my bedroom.
The sunlight slowly shone toward me and I immediately realized that I was currently in the palace.
My mind suddenly remembered Michelle and the Elder.
I quickly got up and suddenly Arvan, who was in the same room as me, immediately stood up and approached me.
"Oh, you're awake already?"
I turned toward him and when I tried to stand up, suddenly my vision became blurry and my head felt dizzy, causing Arvan to immediately hold my hand.
"Rest. You were poisoned by the Black Rose poison!" he said and instantly I fell silent for a moment.
"Black Rose?"
"Isn't that a very deadly poison?" I asked because I knew several poisons that were difficult to control and also difficult to find the cure for, but this time I was the one who was poisoned and it made me stunned thinking about what would happen next.
"Yes, if someone is struck by that poison."
"Where is Michelle?" I asked while changing the subject and Arvan immediately let out a rough sigh.
"She is also severely injured and she was poisoned by the Black Rose as well, so her condition is currently quite worrying." Hearing Arvan's statement immediately shocked me. How could she get poisoned? Was she struck by the arrows too or did they attack Michelle and the others?
"What exactly happened to them?" I asked and Arvan immediately fell silent for a moment.
He looked hesitant to say something. "The Elder has died." he said and instantly I froze because how could the Elder leave us just like that? Then how would we continue forward if the Elder had already died?
"Are you sure?"
"How could he leave just like that without leaving a message for us?"
My body stepped back a few steps and I immediately sat on my bed.
"The Elder's condition was already unstable, and on top of that he was poisoned by the Black Rose, causing his organs to fail to withstand the poison's attack. The poison attacked his heart and stopped its heartbeat!"
"Then how is Lira?" I asked Arvan while worrying about Lira's condition and Arvan nodded his head.
"She's fine and not injured, it's just that she's a little affected after seeing Michelle's condition."
I brushed my hair back and immediately stood up from the bed, but Arvan held my shoulder and told me to sit back down.
"You rest here. I'll ask the guards to bring Lira."
After that Arvan immediately left me alone in the room.
I rose from my seat and looked toward the palace balcony. The palace currently looked quite crowded even though the clouds had already turned dark.
Rain would come soon and somehow I felt uneasy.
"What exactly is going to happen?" I asked quietly and while I was staring ahead, suddenly the voice of a little child made me turn around.
It was Lira. She immediately ran and hugged my legs and I directly carried her into my arms.
"Uncle, you finally woke up?" she asked with a worried face and for a moment she smiled faintly, then I nodded my head and smiled.
"Are you hurt?" I asked and she shook her head.
"Has Sister Michelle woken up?"
She suddenly got down from my arms and looked at me with a gloomy gaze.
"I hope Michelle will wake up so Lira doesn't need to worry."
Hearing my answer made her look slightly relieved, but the worry on her face could not be hidden and she immediately tugged on the edge of my clothes.
"But I saw Sister surrounded by lots of blood!"
I frowned. How could Lira know that? Was she seeing the future or was it merely fear hidden deep inside her feelings?
Days passed and my condition was not too severe, but Michelle's condition was very critical because until now she still had not awakened from her sleep, making several healers worried about her state.
"Does the young master feel anything unusual again?" asked the healer while checking my pulse and I shook my head because I truly did not feel anything anymore, and somehow my Ancient Flame felt as if it was boiling inside my body.
"Does he not show any dangerous symptoms?" asked Arvan while approaching the healer and the healer immediately shook his head.
"Reporting to the General, Lord Xanders' condition is currently very stable and there is nothing to worry about," he explained while I frowned in confusion. How could the Black Rose poison no longer exist inside my body?
"So according to you, the Black Rose poison truly no longer exists inside his body? Did it disappear somehow or was the diagnosis wrong from the beginning?" Arvan asked in confusion and occasionally looked toward me to confirm my condition.
"My lord General, his condition is currently stable and this servant also cannot detect the Black Rose poison inside his body."
"If Lord Xanders possesses a certain power, then that power may absorb external energies. This applies to magic and all kinds of poison. Therefore this servant believes this may be one of the advantages of possessing the Ancient Flame. Because of that, even if he suffers injuries, he can recover very quickly."
Hearing that statement instantly shocked me once again. How could that power neutralize the poison on its own? Perhaps that was why my body felt much hotter than before. Maybe the Ancient Flame was currently destroying the poison within my body.
"You're sure you're not lying to me?" Arvan asked while staring sharply at the healer and the healer immediately lowered his head.
"Yes, this servant is certain there is no poison in his body and this servant can also feel that his body temperature is indeed much hotter than ordinary elves."
Arvan immediately grabbed the healer by the neck after hearing that statement.
"Who dares to say such words?" he asked angrily and I immediately tried to release Arvan's grip from the healer's neck.
"Arvan… be wiser. You are already an adult."
After that Arvan immediately threw the healer aside and the healer collapsed onto the floor.
"Forgive me General… forgive this servant, Lord Xanders."
The healer repeatedly bowed to the floor, but I immediately stopped him and looked at Arvan.
"I'm fine!"
"Please stop treating them like that."
Hearing my words immediately made Arvan let out a rough breath before ordering the healer to leave our room.
"You truly don't feel anything?" he asked and I still shook my head.
"I want to meet Michelle."
Hearing my request made Arvan nod his head because he did not want to disappoint me and we immediately walked toward Michelle's room which was not far from mine.
When I arrived at her room, I saw Michelle currently lying there with her eyes closed. Her body looked thinner and weaker, and right now she looked as if she were sleeping peacefully.
I approached and stared at her face that looked almost similar to mine.
"Why are your injuries worse than mine?" I asked while speaking softly, but there was no movement from her.
I looked toward the wound on her hand. Apparently it was a dried wound caused by a sword slash.
"Are you dreaming of something over there, or do you no longer wish to return here and meet Lira?"
There was no answer from her and that instantly made me fall silent for a moment.
"Wake up. We are waiting for you to wake up."
After saying that I continued staring at her with a gloomy gaze. There was a feeling I could not explain, but I did not want to think too deeply about it.
While I was thinking about Michelle's condition, suddenly Lira entered the room.
With tears flowing down her cheeks she immediately called out Michelle's name.
"Sister, wake up!"
Lira shook Michelle's body, but I grabbed her hand to stop her because I was afraid something might happen to Michelle.
"Lira, what is it?" I asked worriedly because Lira was currently crying uncontrollably.
"Quickly call the healer!" I shouted loudly and indeed within seconds the healer had already entered Michelle's room.
