Chapter 65 - 65: Red traces in Blood
After my wound was cleaned, we decided to walk again because the time was getting late and we also had to hurry to get out of this labyrinth.
My feet were about to step forward but I felt like I forgot something. I turned back and saw the tiger that was already lying down. Blood was coming out and the smell was rotten and very stinging.
My hand directly touched the tiger's fur and my necklace pulsed emitting a red color.
I tried to turn the tiger's body over and at that moment around the front leg area there was a red-black mark which made me more certain that this was a trap that was designed to lure me into this forest.
"Damn demon," I said in a low voice, but suddenly the forest became silent and the howling sound was heard again which indicated that there was something bigger than this.
"What problem will come this time again?" I asked in a low voice while looking at the forest carefully.
After I thought about something, it was indeed planned by someone and he was trying to kill me.
Silence remained our companion when heading to George's place and this time I was really confused because I was still lost in the labyrinth. I had to find a way out first so I could find George.
My necklace pulsed strongly and emitted a red color. This time I felt my heartbeat was quite calm and I did not feel any feeling that made fear.
I was confused because so far when it lights up it indicates that there is a demon approaching me but I still stayed silent and looked around.
Michelle and Alrich were also watching the surroundings carefully but five minutes had passed and there was no demon attack but my necklace was still glowing red.
"Is there something wrong with my necklace?" I muttered in a low voice because I also did not feel any demon near me so why was it glowing red. That was the question that confused me.
"Is there a demon that will approach us?" Mishael asked while tapping my shoulder gently and I shook my head because my heartbeat was normal and I did not feel anything other than looking in confusion.
"How could this be?" I asked because this was the first time I felt something different. I walked in a different direction but the color of my necklace did not emit a red light but instead dimmed. This was very strange.
My feet stepped and suddenly my necklace turned red again. It lit up again.
"We have to go through this path," I said after several times I tried walking but when I walked the necklace emitted a red aura and when I did not go in the same direction it did not emit red so most likely I had to follow when it shines then that is also likely the place but I could not be sure because this was the first time I felt something that turned out not what was approaching me.
"Are you sure?" Michelle asked in a doubtful tone. I was silent for a moment and rubbed my hair because I also did not know but maybe I could make sure to use my necklace to get out of this labyrinth and it seemed the tiger was the guardian of the labyrinth targeting me to be killed.
"We do not have any other choice and that is the only way so we can get out of this labyrinth," I said while continuing to walk and trying to move according to the direction of my necklace.
Several times I followed it but the light suddenly dimmed and I realized this was the wrong path so inevitably we had to turn back to where the necklace glowed red.
The sun was completely covered by the moon even though it was still afternoon but the moon had already come making the lighting very minimal coupled with howling sounds like wolves but I could not be sure that there were wolf clans freely roaming in the elf territory.
"My lord, is this the path that we have passed?" Alrich asked with his calm face but I could not be sure whether it was right or not because I also did not see any traces left because the grass was still standing upright so I thought this was a path we had never passed so why did my necklace suddenly not glow red again.
"It seems we are on the wrong path because my necklace is not glowing red," I said while looking at the two of them.
"Then we have to find the way out again?" Michelle said while looking around and asking me with a face full of fear and that made me confused because for the first time I saw her face suddenly full of fear like there was something she was hiding but I did not know what it was.
"Why is your face full of fear?" I asked in confusion but Michelle suddenly fell silent for a moment after she used the corner of her eyes to signal us to look at something she had seen before.
"Beside you," she said in a low voice and at that moment I immediately looked to the side and found several very large eggs located in dry plants that had become their nest.
"The eggs are very large." With a face turning fearful Alrich almost reached toward the egg but Michelle pulled his hand so Alrich immediately looked at her in confusion.
"Is there something wrong with those eggs, miss?" he asked and Michelle nodded because she recognized what creature owned those eggs.
"It seems those are giant lizard eggs?" I frowned because I had never seen eggs this big.
But how did Mishael recognize them.
I had heard about them when I was in school. I thought those eggs were already extinct so how could they be in front of me.
"You know it?" I asked Mishael and she nodded.
That creature eats all living beings. That lizard eats humans and even anything alive can be eaten and some of them live in places far from their habitat and they do not come from the elf clan or humans but from across the island where there is a small island inhabited by several lizards but in the last few years I knew those creatures had gone extinct and did not leave any eggs or others.
"We have to leave before the mother finds us," Michelle said and we immediately looked at each other but the sound of footsteps was heard very fast and we immediately looked back and as expected the ground suddenly shook violently.
"We have to…" before she could speak again she immediately pulled our hands and we followed Michelle's steps even though we ran quite far but the vibration of the ground was getting closer to us.
"The mother has found us," she said and that made me panic because I also felt curiosity but on the other hand I felt a feeling that I could not describe.
Our footsteps became faster but the lizard chased us faster and this time the vibration felt stronger than before. The trees shook as if giving a sign that they were already close to us and suddenly from the front we were blocked by a very large lizard.
It had very rough skin and a long tail and had four legs. From its mouth there was saliva that would make anyone feel disgusted if touched by it.
"Oh God they found us," Michelle said while hitting her forehead and I immediately looked at the lizard in front of me.
"How is this possible…" I said while looking in disbelief because I saw a very large lizard in front of me.
It blocked us.
Then from behind suddenly appeared three more lizards that blocked us again so we could not run anymore to avoid them but instead we had to kill them first so we could escape from their chase.
"We cannot fight them we must make them attack each other," Mishael said to me giving advice.
"You hide first," I told Alrich to hide because I also did not want him to get hurt considering he was one of the keys to finding George.
"But my lord is it not my duty to protect you?" Alrich asked and I shook my head because I also did not want him to get involved so I refused.
"No just hide." He stepped back slowly but it seemed the lizard noticed there was movement so I looked around and found a branch so the lizard did not approach his hiding place.
"We must make them fall into a ravine or make them fight each other so we can kill them faster," Michelle said and I followed all her directions because I also could not kill them easily as their skin seemed very hard.
"Hey… you here." I threw a branch and that made one of them look at us we immediately looked at each other and ran separately to avoid them attacking us all at once.
