The Prince in Question Is Not Stable

Chapter 101: The Funeral (02)

Ymir stepped inside, and let the heavy oak door click shut behind him.

The room was small, smaller compared to the grand Sanctum dedicated for Violet, and only a little had changed since he last entered her room.

Whitewashed stone walls catching the muted light filtering through a single tall, narrow window of tinted glass.

A faint haze of incense in the air with the same blend of night blooming jasmine.

The only difference was that now, she had quite a lot of books on the shelf besides the main door.

Violet stood near the center of the room, half-turned toward a tall standing mirror. She was in the middle of donning her ceremonial robes, the usual heavy black and silver vestments.

The outer layer hung open over her shoulders, revealing the simple and delicate line of her collarbone. Long hair cascading loosely down her back in soft waves.

She was startled at the sound of the door, and spinned around with wide violet eyes.

Then her cheeks flushed in deep rose.

"Ymir?" She called out his name in sharp hissing tone.

"Now this ... is a view worth the trouble," Ymir smirked, and laid on the bed to his side, with his hand supporting his face, and looked at her struggling to wear her dress.

"Please continue," he said.

"..."

Violet’s mouth opened, closes, and then opened again. "This is a Sanctum, you cannot just walk in while I’m...changing!"

"I didn’t walk in while you were changing, trust me, I wanted to. I walked in while you were almost done changing, there’s a big difference, respectfully." He replied.

"Besides, why does it even matter, at some point I’ll have to---"

"Alright! Alright! Say no more," she cut his words off.

She made a strangled sound that was kind of a helpless laugh, turned away quickly to pull the outer robe closed. Her fingers fumbled with the silver claps, and Ymir did not take his gaze off of her.

He was impressed that she managed to wear such complicated clothing while he struggled with a single tie despite being someone whose powers rival those of transcendent.

Violet finally managed the clasps and faced him again, arms crossed tightly.

"You are seriously impossible. There’s a funeral to attend, and you’re here...fooling around-"

"Oh what’s this?" Ymir’s attention shifted to her bookshelf the moment she completely wore her robes.

"You’ve got some really good collection of books, historical, economical, strategic, philosophical but...what’s this?" he picked a single book from her shelf and looked at it in utter confusion.

"What kind of title is this? ’Chaining the prince of lust into a submissive slav---’"

’...?’

He looked at her, who was already staring at the book with eyes wide open.

"It-it must’ve been in the books that arrived here...I mean...I requested for story books since to kill my boredom, I have no Idea what that is, or where did that come from..." She said.

"Someone’s giving you ideas," he muttered and put the book back in shelf.

"Wh-Why’re you here? You should’ve informed me in advance," she stuttered.

"Relax, people tend to have certain kinks, it’s not like I’m judging you," he totally was.

"It’s seriously not what you think it is!" She said.

"I get you~" He gestured with his palm for her to relax and take a deep breath.

"My reason for being here is really simple," he said.

Violet heaved a sigh as the conversation shifted, and picked up a small orchid shaped glass bottle of scent.

"I’m all ears," she said, shrugging her shoulders and opening the bottle of scent.

"I need your help," Ymir said.

And at that sentence, she stopped her movements, and looked at him in surprise.

"You need my help?" She repeated.

"Yes," he replied.

"That’s unexpected. What kind of help do you need?" she asked.

"Nothing complicated, let’s see," Ymir sat on the corner of her bed, and thought for a moment.

"Could you give out orders that women, who’re not with their spouse at moments are dedicated a different seating, and that position is visible to everyone," he asked.

"What? There’s already an area for widows Ymir," Violet replied.

"Not widows, No," Ymir said. "Those who’re just not with their spouse at the moment," he clarified.

"...What’re you trying to pull now? First Ferrey and now this," She said.

"?" Ymir squinted his brows to her words.

"What do you mean? What about Ferrey?" he asked.

There is no way that besides him, Orochi, and Graves know of what happened in that room.

’How could she know of it?’ he thought.

"My powers run throughout the covenant Ymir, I know what happens within and beyond the walls I am," she said in a confident tone.

"Then you must also know he had made a contract with a demonic human," Ymir said.

"I knew of it since the moment he established a connection with foreign power," she replied.

Ymir scoffed, and shook his head. "I think I misjudged your capabilities a little,"

"Really? Now will you tell me what’s this seating arrangement is being used for?" She asked.

"Why? Are you interested in my daily affairs...do you get bored staying in the sanctum all day long?" he tilted his head and looked at her in amusement.

"You get bored don’t you...I can clearly see that from the collection of books you hav-"

"I can never get bored of praying!" She replied in a hurry.

"Ah...and here I thought I could have you as my ’partner in crime’ because you were suffering from boredom, turns out its just simple curiosity not even worth quenching," Ymir shook his head and stood up.

"I- I cannot say that prayers bore me, that’s like questioning my faith," she said, putting the bottle of scent back on the table.

"That’s too bad," He shook his head in disappointment and turned around.

"Maybe if you could just admit it, but I guess you love missing out on fun since you’ve been holed up in this sanctum for a very long time..." He spoke, taking deliberately slow steps towards the gate.

"But---" She was at a loss for words.

"Such a loss... such a loss," he repeated the words under his breath.

"ALRIGHT!" Violet said out aloud, stopping Ymir from reaching towards.

"I admit it... I get bored!" She said with her head hung low.

A wide smile creeped on Ymir’s lips hearing that, and he turned around.

"See...that was easy!" He spread his arms and sat walked closer to her.

"So...what do you want to hear first?" he asked.

"Everything!" she said.

"Everything?" he repeated.

"Yes. Everything, from the beginning." She replied.

"Hmm. It’s a long story, but I suppose we have time," Ymir laid back on her bed, and turned to face her.

"So, it all began from your trial..."
