Picking Up Attributes In Martial World

Chapter 146: He Wenxin Vs Meihui

Ye Jun didn’t know why he was even surprised at this point. Meihui had a mysterious past, but he was sure it was related to some influential family. That might also be the reason for her insane Cultivation base despite her young age.

It was pretty normal for her to meet Body Cultivators, even though they seemed rare to him.

’I am just a country bumpkin,’ Ye Jun glanced at her and asked. "So, what are the ranks? I’m really curious."

Meihui stayed silent, looking at him with a smile, then said, "I need something in return. Remember our deal, we’re both supposed to help each other."

Ye Jun shifted slightly, "What do you want? I don’t really have anything to give you. I’m broke as hell."

"You’re broke?" She blinked in confusion, then looked at his body. "I don’t think so."

’I really shouldn’t forget that I’m not on Earth,’ Ye Jun facepalmed and said. "It just means I’m very poor."

"Oh, you don’t have to give anything now," Meihui looked down and said. "Just promise me something. You’ll do one thing in the future, whatever I ask."

Ye Jun instantly covered his chest and glared at her, "Pervert! Just because I’m handsome, you want to take advantage of me!"

Her lips twitched at his ridiculous acting and she punched his arm, "Stop acting like that! I’m not interested in your body or face."

"Are you sure about that?" Ye Jun grinned at her, wiggling his eyebrow and closing in on her.

Meihui froze at the sudden contact, as his handsome face, angular jaw, everything was on full display right before her eyes. Her heart struggled against the confinements, ready to jump out of them.

’So handsome...’

"Got mesmerized by my looks?" Ye Jun grinned, though he shouldn’t have.

Meihui’s face turned bright red as she punched his belly and this time, she didn’t hold back much so he experienced the full brunt of it. He groaned and bent forward, as even his strengthened body couldn’t handle all of that force.

Seeing his expression, she panicked but seeing the mirth in his eyes, she pouted and looked away. "That’s what happens when you spout too much nonsense."

"We both know it was just facts," Ye Jun took a deep breath and said, still holding his belly. "Well, as long as it’s not something ridiculous, I don’t mind doing whatever you ask."

"Good! Should have said that from the start," Meihui sighed and said, worry flashing in her eyes.

"It was worth it," Ye Jun smiled widely. "I got to see you blushing so hard. Definitely worth it!"

"Idiot!" She muttered.

"So, please answer my question now," Ye Jun said. "As much as I wish to continue this, that’s more important."

"For starters, the first realm is Mortal, the mundane human. Then comes Tempered Physique, which is basically the Body Strengthening Realm. From there on, things change as Cultivators have to choose their path."

She pointed at herself and said, "Take Liangxue and me for example, we are pure Qi Cultivators, but a bit different too since our Cultivation Manuals strengthen our bodies a lot more than others."

"Mountain is a pure Body Cultivator and I’m a mix who is focusing on both," Ye Jun nodded in understanding.

"Yes. You’re a special case." She took a sip of her tea and said. "As you might have already experienced, the second stage involves deep tempering of Physique using Qi. That’s another reason why Cultivators don’t choose both paths."

"There’s only so much Qi they can absorb and refine. And using it to temper the body also costs them that Qi," Ye Jun guessed.

"Indeed." She smiled and said. "This Realm makes your Physique strong enough to rival the peak of Qi Tempering Realm, or should I say even higher. It also helps in enduring the Heavenly Tribulation, since the Physique absorbs a huge part of it."

"Interesting," Ye Jun rubbed his chin. "I also feel as if blades can’t cut through my skin."

"That’s not entirely wrong," she replied calmly. "Tier 1 Artefacts will fail to leave even a scratch on you, and Tier 2 wouldn’t fare much better. Though if they’re imbued with Qi, it becomes a different matter."

Ye Jun continued to ask more questions on the topic and as always, she always gave every answer with a smile. Her happiness was overflowing in her eyes, which Ye Jun found a bit strange.

’You are happy to share information? Or just happy to help me?’

Whatever the case was, he was also very happy.

In the end, he did learn quite a lot about Body Cultivation but still not enough. Unfortunately, they were still rare enough so Meihui never properly studied about them.

That was why she only knew the basics, like the names of the realms. Apparently, there were quite a few realms following Qi Tempering, like Earthforged, Skyborne and the like.

As for achieving them, there were many methods but ultimately, their true essence remained the same. Strengthen the physique to ridiculous levels, bringing profound changes to it. So much that it strayed further and further away from mortality.

"What are you planning to do next?" Meihui asked, as they settled comfortably close to each other.

They had shared a bed, so what was the problem with sitting closely?

At least that was what Meihui thought before sliding a bit closer and fortunately for her, Ye Jun didn’t comment on it.

Ye Jun just smiled at her and said, "You can already guess it."

"Can’t you wait a bit?" She asked softly. "Heavenly Tribulation is heavily dependent on the Cultivator’s talent, foundation and stuff. Meaning the better you are, the worse Tribulations you’ll have to pass."

"The rewards should be better too, right?" He asked in return.

Heavenly Tribulations were trials at their core, so obviously they had rewards too. If one survived, their foundation would grow stronger, their potential rising and much more.

If his trials were strong, then the corresponding rewards should match them.

"Yes, but that’s only if you survive," Meihui sighed. "Please read everything I gave you before you attempt it."

"I’m insane, yes, but not suicidal," Ye Jun rolled his eyes and said. "I’ll make sure my chances are as high as possible before attempting it. After all, I still have five months left till I turn twenty."

"So, you’re really aiming to get into Heavenly Frost Palace quickly. Is it related to that dream?" She asked, glancing at him.

"Part of it."

Just as he was about to tell her about the Lord and everything that transpired in Greywood Village, he sensed a presence outside his abode. As its master, he had some special functions available to him.

He frowned and checked who it was. His eyes flickered with surprise as he quickly allowed the presence to enter. He also separated from Meihui, who held an even bigger frown.

"Why is she in your abode?" She asked with a dangerous edge to her tone.

"I’m sitting beside you, so how would I know?" Ye Jun shrugged, ignoring her possessive tone for now, otherwise he would spend his time teasing her.

Soon, a bespectacled woman walked in. Her hair tied behind loosely, letting black locks fall on her simple face. It still surprised Ye Jun how ordinary she looked. It wasn’t even a matter of preference or perspective. He could genuinely forget her face in a crowd.

Still, he noticed some difference in her figure. When he first met He Wenxin, she was thin and scrawny. She hadn’t particularly grown fit and perfect, but the improvement was clearly visible in her figure, her skin, even in her eyes that she always hid behind her spectacles.

She paused seeing the two of them, then clasped her hands, "Greetings, Brother Jun, Brother Rong. I didn’t expect to meet you here."

Without even him noticing, Meihui had taken out her hand fan, as she got into the act, "He is my friend, so I can visit him whenever I want. I don’t think this Young Master needs to tell you about it."

"Ah! Apologies then," He Wenxin remained polite.

"Relax," Ye Jun swung his arm around her shoulder, much to her annoyance, and said. "Don’t be so stiff with each other. It’s not as if you’re enemies, right?"

On that, Meihui stayed silent and simply covered her mouth with the fan. On the other hand, He Wenxin said, "Young Master helped me a lot in your absence, so I owe this much to him."

"You don’t. I asked him to look after you," Ye Jun waved his hand and said. "So, there’s no need to put on all that fiasco before me. In any case, what brought you here? Asking for my well-being?"

At first, He Wenxin was a little surprised by his words, but her entire demeanour changed, taking both of them by surprise. She pushed her spectacles up and smiled faintly.

"I’m glad you asked that."
