The Primeval Era

Damian raised his hands before his face.

The limbs that met his gaze were not the hands he had known for eighteen summers. They were larger, fingers longer, skin marked with verdant tattoos that pulsed with inner light. He flexed them experimentally and felt strength respond that exceeded anything his previous body had possessed by orders of magnitude.

He turned those hands toward Serala.

She was examining herself with similar wonder, her expanded frame moving with grace. When she caught him looking, her wing-shaped pupils met his with questions neither of them could answer through words alone.

The terms of the information he was receiving felt somewhat foreign.

Primeval Viridis Lifeform. Existential Evolution. These phrases stood for immensity and glory, but he needed context to truly understand what they meant. What had he become? What could he do now that had been impossible before? What limitations had been stripped away during those minutes of verdant fire?

He needed more information.

Damian closed his eyes and tugged on the lively and emotional Mana surrounding him. He reached deeper than before, grasping at the seas roiling within his body, at currents that flowed through channels fundamentally rebuilt during the transformation. The Mana responded with enthusiasm that bordered on affection, eager to share what it knew about the being he had become!

White words bloomed before his closed eyes.

He would live for ten thousand years simply by existing, before any cultivation benefits extended that further. The number was so vast it refused to feel real. He had been prepared to die at any moment across eight summers of hiding. Now he had millennia stretching before him like an ocean without visible shores!

Damian paused at that last passage.

Detachment from those who weren’t Primeval? He thought of Uncle Adam and Grandmother Essun, of the thousands of tribesmen who looked to him for protection. Would he begin to see them as lesser?

He pushed the concern aside for now. There would be time to examine such things later.

Damian absorbed each notification with growing wonder.

It was truly surreal. Flight without effort. Armor woven into his skin. Communication with beasts as natural as breathing. The ability to speak with Ancestors more directly than any Shaman could achieve.

Then a final set of words appeared.

Primordial Beast Sovereignty!

He thought of the dinosaurs he had freed from Sir Alex’s control. The Pteranodon and Pterosaurs and thousands of Velociraptors waiting at the edge of his garden. He thought of the Inkanyamba coiled behind his mountain and the Primal Beasts on Roaring Stone who had watched his rain fall with wonder.

There were many more possibilities now!

He opened his eyes and looked at Serala again!
