Chapter 131: An S Rank Showdown
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The impact of Puck’s devastating attack salvo spread across the forest like a devastating flood from an ocean, creating numerous craters and harvesting entire catalogues of trees and a tiny part of the forest, turning it into a wasteland.
But she dealt zero damage to her targets because all the Witches that she targeted disappeared just before the attack could hit them.
As for Seraphinha Duskveil herself, she shrugged off the attack completely.
She snorted as she glared at them in a provocative manner.
"Where is he?" She frowned.
"Dogs, where is your master?"
And then...
Teleportation!
Sir Alfred, the Demon Butler of Dreadmoor made a move for the very first time as he appeared directly in front of the High Priestess of the Demoness Sect.
And for a brief moment, time froze.
"..."
On one side stood an otherworldly beauty, a Succubus in a long flowing black Witch robe. Her long black hair was as smooth as silk, accentuating her beauty to a level that she mesmerized everyone and everything around her, but not him.
Standing in front of her was a gentle-looking middle-aged Demon on a grey suit with a tie.
He held no weapon, and yet the mere existence of his presence bent the atmosphere and gravity to his will.
On one side stood an S Rank Conceptual Sovereign of the Mage Class, and on the other side stood an S Rank Fate Sovereign of the Witch Class.
Their presence clashed against each other in a violent qi reaction.
BZZZZ!
On one side, greyish white qi flared around the suited Demon in a majestic manner, and on the other side sinister dark grey qi flared around the robed Succubus in an eerie manner.
Both qi clashed for dominance for a few seconds, but none prevailed as the 2 S Rank Sovereigns engaged in a staring contest.
Then, Seraphina smirked. "Alfred," she called, then she shook her head. "A Sovereign like you, following another Sovereign..."
She spat on the ground. "Nothing disgusts me than you".
"You’re supposed to be a Sovereign and a Sovereign is supposed to have pride!" She snarled, revealing her fangs. "A Sovereign is supposed to be a ruler. You’re supposed to lead, not follow!"
She looked around. "Where is he? Is he hiding in the castle?"
She sneered. "Is he too scared to face me in battle?"
Sir Alfred finally reacted, he calmly shook his head with his eyes still fixated on her face. "My Lord is too big to fight the likes of you, I’m enough".
Seraphina sneered coldly. "What a convenient excuse".
BZZZZZT!
Her qi suddenly exploded like a tsunami, pressing back against the Demon’s qi as she glared at him. "Do what is right, Demon". She said coldly. "Zaratul is weak, you know it. He is unfit to rule you or any of you".
She looked at the powerhouses still inside the floating castle. "Zaratul is a fraud".
"This is our chance to kill him once and for all".
She looked into Sir Alfred’s eyes. "Join me let’s kill him, and together I’ll make you an infamous powerhouse just like him. The world will know you, you will be known as Alfred the Great, the new Zaratul!"
"You will become powerful and famous!"
"Your name will be said and feared across generations!"
Sir Alfred looked into her eyes for a few seconds, then he smirked. "Is this your fear showing? Is this your plan to win the war?"
Seraphina snorted. "Me? Fear? You should be the one who’s scared".
"Boy, I lived a thousand years before you were born".
"It doesn’t matter". Sir Alfred calmly shook his head. "If you were that confident, your army will be here with you. It won’t be just you".
Seraphina shook her head in a disappointed manner. "I don’t need an army of cannon fodder to take care of you".
"Me and you, 1v1, let’s end this war". She glared at him in a provocative manner. "We don’t need to waste the lives of our subordinates. If you have any pride left in you as a Sovereign, take my offer".
"If I win, you’ll agree to kill Zaratul together with me and I’ll ordain you to take his place as the Sovereign of Debauchery".
"What is your answer?"
Sir Alfred only smirked at her.
Seeing the look on his face, Seraphina scowled. "You fool!"
BZZZZ!
Her qi erupted again, and this time she made use of it.
Level 100 Skill: Omni-Fate Domain!
Instantly, a sinister presence engulfed the world.
The evening sky changed, the clouds turning into grey canvases that covered the entire world as every Awakened within a city-wide scale in the forest felt like they were beginning to lose their sense of self and being.
They were beginning to lose their destiny!
Even Sir Alfred felt like his own destiny was beginning to rebel against him, his eyes gleamed as he got prepared to react.
But before he could, somebody else did.
CRKSH!
The world seemed to fracture like glass around them in the battlefield as the Omni-Fate Domain of the Fate Sovereign shattered!
’Eh?’ Seraphina was stunned.
Level 100 Skill: Conceptual Terraforming!
BZZZ!
The domain was shattered as the evening sky returned to normal, with the destinies of every Awakened in a city-wide scale returning to normal, and that was when he descended...
Samson descended.
Wielding an ivory Trident whose mere existence seemed to bend reality around it, the World Sovereign was garbed in a white and green robe as he floated down beside the 2 S Rank Sovereigns who were previously glaring at each other.
The 2 S Rank Sovereigns turned and looked at him at the same time, but Samson was unfazed as he looked at both of them in a calm manner.
"No S Rank Sovereign will be fighting in my territory". He declared before throwing a brief glance at the castle which was still invisible in stealth.
He took a deep breath. "If you must fight, take it to a different plane or territory. I won’t stand by and watch while you destroy my home".
Sir Alfred simply looked at him without saying a word.
Seraphina Duskveil snorted. "And what exactly are you going to do if we decide to fight here?"
Instead of answering, Samson simply looked at his Trident. "You’re old enough to know what this weapon is. It’s an S Rank Artifact, a heirloom that was once used by my great grandfather, then my grandfather, and my father before me".
"I always keep it locked beneath the ground close to the crust of the world".
"That way, it doesn’t act up".
"Anytime I bring it out, it’s either as a deterrence or something big is about to go down..."
"The last time I used it". He exhaled. "An S Rank Sovereign died".
He looked Seraphina in the eyes. "So, what do you think?"
She stared into his emerald eyes and seeing the look in his eyes, her passive future fate prediction sense was able to see the possible fate threads tied to instigating him. What she saw made her shudder in an imperceptible manner.
She snorted again and averted her gaze, then she looked at Sir Alfred and smirked. "As you can see, all my Witches are safely hidden in the Fate Realm, and you can’t access the Fate Realm".
"There’s no use in fighting this war, if S Rank Sovereigns are not going to fight then it was lost from the very beginning".
She smirked at him in a smug manner like she already calculated everything from the very beginning.
"Give up on Zaratul," she urged. "He’s a relic of the past. We are the present, let’s join our powers and build a new empire of Villains and Villainesses".
"Let us create our own legend together".
"Be ambitious!"
Again, Sir Alfred smiled at her. "What makes you think that we’ve lost if S Rank Sovereigns can’t fight here in the forest?"
"Because of your Fate Realm?"
He briefly looked at Samson. "I respect him as a senior, I never had intentions of destroying his home in the first place, but that doesn’t mean we can’t deal damage to you".
He chuckled. "There’s a reason why you migrated the Fate Realm to the Midnight Forest 10 years ago after the Great Battle of 1895".
"The reason why you didn’t move anywhere else but here is because the Midnight Forest is one of the most resource-rich areas in the world".
"Here, you can get food and sustenance".
"Here, you can get qi crystals to sustain your castle. Here, there’s an abundant of Qi Beasts to train your Witches, but what is the use of all this if you’re forced to hole up inside your castle?"
"How long are your resources going to last? How long before the stored food in your storages become exhausted? Especially now that majority of your Witches are all gathered in Ravenhelm".
He grinned. "Well, you see, violence is not the only way to fight and win wars".
"You can also win wars by starving your opponents".
He smiled. "If Ravenhelm is as power-hungry as Dreadmoor, I wonder how long it will last before you’re forced to leave your turtle shell".
His face turned cold as he looked into her eyes. "So Seraphina, tell me, you and I, who should be desperate?"
"Who should be scared?"
"Who should be shaking in fear?"
Seraphina glared at him. "F*ck you!"
Sir Alfred smiled. "Tick tock... your time is counting..."
