Chapter 489 - 12: Demon Country in the Sea
Long confined within a cage, I am at last returned to nature.
Yang Jing had been Tunneling underground for nearly a month. Although he could occasionally enter his Inner World for a breath of fresh air, the experience was still stifling. Now that he was back in the sea, he felt his heart open and his spirits lift.
Even while fleeing for his life underground, he had used his Grotto Dark Dharma Eye’s power to pierce through rock and his Bright Qi Talent’s sensitivity to Spiritual Mechanisms to find a number of Spiritual Objects amid the roiling subterranean fires.
The most valuable among them were five Earth Fire Pearls.
These Earth Fire Pearls were Treasure Pearls nurtured within subterranean fire veins. Similar to the Vast Sea Pearl, they could continuously release Fire Element Essence Qi.
However, because these pearls were nurtured within the earth’s veins, the essence they produced was an impure, baleful qi. They needed to be refined with various Spiritual Materials into Fiery Fire Pearls before this could be converted into Spiritual Qi.
These pearls could enhance the power of Fire Element Arrays and were even essential Spiritual Objects for setting up certain Tier Four Fire Element Arrays. As a result, they were highly sought after by Alchemists and Artifact Refiners, their value even exceeding that of the Vast Sea Pearl.
It was just that these pearls mostly gestated deep within the earth’s veins. Only when subterranean fires erupted would some be brought to the surface by chance, making them extremely rare.
Yang Jing put the Earth Fire Pearls away. Since he had already refined the Five Elements True Fire, he had no need for these pearls to assist with his Artifact Refining or Alchemy. He planned to refine them into Fiery Fire Pearls and then embed them into the earth veins of his Inner World to increase its Fire Element Spiritual Mechanism.
After stowing the Earth Fire Pearls, he began Tunneling northeast, angling up toward the surface of the sea.
After Tunneling underground for so long, even with the subterranean Primordial Magnetism to guide him, it was inevitable he would stray off course. He had to observe the stars to correct his heading.
As Yang Jing Tunneled, he thought about the Innate Pure Yang Qi stored in the Iron Embryo Treasure Bottle. ’For a Cultivator with a True Yang Body, this qi is on par with the Nine Marvelous Creation Qi. If I can refine it into my Celestial True Gang, it could increase my chances of reaching the Nascent Soul stage by at least twenty to thirty percent.’
’This qi would also be of great benefit to my Tai Shi Five Elements True Talisman Scripture, just not as much as for my True Yang Body.’
’Only a special place like the Demon Realm could produce such a rare Innate Spiritual Qi.’
’It’s a shame Sun Demons dislike water due to their conflicting Vitality. Otherwise, once I’m powerful enough, I could come back and see if I can find a bottle of Innate Pure Yin Qi.’
Yang Jing suppressed the excitement in his heart. ’This Innate Pure Yang Qi is nothing like ordinary Spiritual Qi; it’s extremely difficult to refine. I have to find the perfect location before I can even begin the process.’
By the time he broke the surface, it was already Midnight. The weather was clear, with only gentle ripples disturbing the ocean’s surface. A full moon hung in the sky, wreathed in thin clouds like a silken veil.
Yang Jing looked up at the constellations to confirm his position. Despite all the setbacks, he hadn’t strayed too far from his intended path and only needed a slight course correction.
After confirming his direction, he immediately dived back into the water and continued on his way.
The vast ocean’s waters greatly restricted the range of a Nascent Soul Cultivator’s Divine Sense. Relying on his Water Escape, Yang Jing could actually sense even farther than they could.
In the air, he wouldn’t have such an advantage. Even with his Cloud Escape concealing his form, some Nascent Soul Cultivators skilled in Eye Techniques and Spiritual Divine Sense would inevitably spot a flaw.
Having offended two Nascent Soul Level beings, Yang Jing felt no peace of mind, even though he was now thousands of miles from the Demon Palace. On the contrary, he increased his Tunneling Speed and continued to race through the water.
While Tunneling, he sensed the auras of many Demon Cultivators, Sea Monsters, Demons, and Celestial Demons, but his perception range far exceeded theirs, so he skirted around them from a great distance.
After some time, the omnipresent Demonic Qi in the seawater suddenly vanished, replaced by a thick, filthy, baleful qi.
Yang Jing used his Water Escape to conceal his form and looked at the waters ahead with some curiosity.
Unlike the tense atmosphere at the border between the territories of the Hundred-Eyed Demon Saint and the Moon Demon King, this area of the sea was surprisingly bustling.
Here, the seabed, once tens of thousands of feet deep, had arched upwards to form a string of pearl-like islands. Colorful coral and schools of fish had replaced the once gloomy, abyssal depths.
All sorts of houses and shops had been built on the islands, stretching all the way into the sea.
Countless bizarre-looking Demons, barely holding human form, as well as Celestial Demons and Demon Cultivators, bustled in and out of the shops. Although conflicts occasionally flared up, at least there were no major brawls.
’To think there’s a Marketplace like this in the middle of the boundless deep sea.’
Seeing this, an idea sparked in Yang Jing’s mind.
’This time, I’ve well and truly offended the Tribulation Sea Old Demon and the Moon Demon King. I wonder how their great battle turned out, and if they’ve come looking for me since.’
’This Marketplace is right next to the Demon Realm. It’s the perfect place to go and gather some information.’
Although Yang Jing had already made up his mind, he remained hidden and observed for three days.
In those three days, he determined that the owner of the Marketplace was a Nascent Soul Demon. He deduced this because Demons held the highest status there, and several squads of remarkably powerful Demons patrolled the area to maintain order and quell any conflicts.
He also saw a good number of Moon Demons roaming the Marketplace. They would periodically stop passing Demon Cultivators to interrogate them, which led to several conflicts. The patrolling Demons, upon seeing this, simply turned a blind eye.
Yang Jing’s eyes narrowed. He activated his Fetal Transformation Divine Techniques, transforming into a Snake Demon with a human face and a snake’s body, still bearing many serpentine features. He then swam into the bounds of the Marketplace.
