Chapter 218: Married the Right Person
"What on earth do you mean by coming to me with all this today? I’m a bit confused," Yi Roujing looked at the furious Wang Qiushuang across from her and smiled.
"Standing up for the Lou Family?" Yi Roujing sighed and said, "Alright, you’ve said your piece, and I understand the matter, just go back and live your life with Ding Jianshe honestly."
"Even if Lou Wenjian knows, what about his parents? They’re definitely kept in the dark." Wang Qiushuang said indignantly.
"You can keep jumping around all you want." Yi Roujing didn’t want to argue further. "Goodbye."
"Do you look down on me?" Wang Qiushuang frowned, looking at the indifferent Yi Roujing, who seemed to barely care about her, and suddenly raised her voice sharply.
"Yeah." Yi Roujing nodded, counting on her fingers, "There’s really nothing about you that I can respect. For years, you spoke insincere words against your conscience for some food and clothing by my side."
"You actually liked Ding Ancheng yourself but didn’t act on it, egged me on to make a fool of myself in front of him, and later when I married Ding Ancheng, you were furious."
"Afterwards, you met a temporary worker, you must have been extremely displeased, thinking that if I, Yi Roujing, could marry Ding Ancheng, why should you, Wang Qiushuang, marry just a temporary worker."
"Regarding Ding Jianshe, even if there wasn’t anything at first, after all, he had a wife, and you, a young maiden, marrying a divorced man was a bit of a loss, but Ding Jianshe was a permanent employee, and getting him to divorce his wife to marry you must have made you very proud."
"Alas, in the end, it was his ex-wife, an uneducated village woman, who was about to climb the social ladder and enter a county mayor’s home, and you felt unbalanced, thinking you picked up something she discarded, right?"
Looking at Wang Qiushuang’s shocked face, Yi Roujing clicked her tongue and shook her head, "A woman like you, who never knows satisfaction, how can you ever have a happy life in the future?"
Wang Qiushuang appeared somewhat lost and wobbly; Yi Roujing frowned at her, but still got up to help. On touching Wang Qiushuang’s wrist, her face changed and she pulled her to sit down on a bench, "Are you pregnant?"
Wang Qiushuang, looking enlightened, touched her stomach.
"You’re pregnant, yet you still worry about others? Are you just so well-fed and idle, are you planning to spend your life with Ding Jianshe or are you thinking of climbing up the social ladder to remarry, could you figure it out on your own?" Yi Roujing felt truly helpless.
"It’s easy for you to say these sarcastic things because you married well," Wang Qiushuang said in a low, hoarse voice.
"Ding Ancheng is good, but do you think there’s no one better in this world?" Yi Roujing responded speechlessly, "But so what, to me, he’s the best. Isn’t that all that matters?"
"Marrying is about marrying someone you like and think is good. Otherwise, with so many men in this world, if you compare and choose one by one, do you think you can manage that? You might not even get to marry before you die."
"Moreover, life needs to be lived out by yourself. Isn’t it good to live your own little life in peace? There are worse men than Ding Jianshe in this world, you should be content, besides, you agreed to marry him yourself."
Wang Qiushuang’s expression darkened, "I feel like ever since Ding Jianshe met Hu Ailing, he just..."
Wang Qiushuang’s internal frustration came partly because of Ding Jianshe. Recently in bed, he’d been quite forceful, ever since he saw Hu Ailing, and he wasn’t like this before when they were in the village.
"What’s it got to do with him? How was Hu Ailing when she was with him, it’s not as if he hasn’t seen her before; her current situation has nothing to do with him." Yi Roujing snorted, "Don’t overthink it, you’re having a child, aren’t you? Besides, after marrying Ding Jianshe, whether it is Hupozi or Ding Jianshe, they treat you differently compared to Hu Ailing, this is your skill; just keep using it."
It’s rare for Wang Qiushuang to receive affirmation from Yi Roujing, she paused in shock, "I really think that ever since you married Ding Ancheng, you’ve changed a lot, you weren’t like this before."
"That just means I married the right person."
Married the right person, what about herself? Wang Qiushuang kept pondering this question on the way back to the factory’s marital housing.
"Qiushuang, Qiushuang, are you alright? I heard from your workshop mates that you weren’t feeling well and went to the hospital, what’s happening, are you okay?"
Hearing the anxious voice, Wang Qiushuang looked up to see Ding Jianshe walking over with a nervous expression and concerned inquiries.
For some reason, the anger in Wang Qiushuang’s heart lessened considerably, she touched her stomach and smiled, "Brother Jianshe, the doctor says I’m pregnant, it’s been two months."
Ding Jianshe was ecstatic, "Pregnant? That’s great, so great. Is your body alright, what did the doctor say, we..."
Yi Roujing didn’t pay much attention to Wang Qiushuang’s matters; after all, even if she doesn’t listen, she can’t do anything about it. The Lou Family is not someone she can convince, and Lou Wenjian is not Ding Jianshe.
Lunch was at the staff hospital cafeteria; Ding Anmin specially brought a lunch box with dishes. Yi Weijun and Yi Weiliang didn’t come, ever since Yi Roujing got pregnant, the two brothers ate at the factory cafeteria themselves, they didn’t want to compete for a pregnant woman’s food.
Today Ding Anmin brought scallion-roasted fish with plenty of seasoning, just how Yi Roujing likes it. The parts with meat and fewer bones in the fish belly, Ding Anmin picked out for Yi Roujing, "Be careful of other parts, they have lots of bones."
Ding Anmin, like an old mother, reminded her even though it wasn’t the first time they ate fish.
"You should eat as well." Yi Roujing saw Ding Anmin hadn’t taken much fish.
"For my niece or nephew," Ding Anmin said, looking at Yi Roujing’s belly, her face glowing with maternal radiance. Yi Roujing found it amusing.
"But we can’t let this aunt go without, can we?"
"Then I’ll have a little."
The meal was harmonious and beautiful.
"Roujing, go inspect this batch of gauze at the textile factory." Fan Yuanrong came out of the office and looked at Yi Roujing sitting at the nurse’s station and said, "After inspecting, someone will send it over, then you can go home."
"Alright."
Lately, Fan Yuanrong generally called on her whenever there was an external job, allowing her to leave work early in a way, of course, this was a result of letting more nurses have experiences in the operating room and being selfless in sharing experiences.
Yi Roujing looked at her watch, it was 2 p.m., she estimated it would be around 3 when she finished. As she arrived downstairs, Sir Zhang, who she had gone out with a few times, at the age of 46, was already waiting, pushing a wooden cart.
"Nurse Yi Roujing." Sir Zhang waved enthusiastically at Yi Roujing, "Do you want to sit on the cart? I’m good at pushing it."
"No need, no need."
Yi Roujing blushed slightly, remembering her first time going out with Sir Zhang, she thought it was novel and sat on the cart, but after being paraded through the streets once, she didn’t want to ride again. On the street, adults didn’t sit on carts; they either carried goods or kids sat on them.
