Chapter 1328 - 1323: Loan Shark
A year ago, Du Yuwei's trading company was short on funds, so she borrowed 1.1 million from Yang Biao, a local real estate development company owner, agreeing to a monthly interest rate of ten percent.
However, what Du Yuwei had not anticipated was that because her company was not performing well, she was two months late in repaying the 1.1 million, and it turned into 2.1 million.
Du Yuwei had only prepared 1.6 million to repay this amount but still owed 600,000. Du Yuwei's company wasn't large, so she had to defer the 600,000 for two months.
But after two months when Du Yuwei went to repay this 600,000, the other party calculated the total principal and interest to be 1.7 million.
Du Yuwei argued with them but unexpectedly got beaten by them and threatened that if she didn't repay the 1.7 million within ten days, her life would be in danger.
At this point, Du Yuwei had already asked around and found out that Yang Biao was the leader of the largest gang in the area, using his real estate company as a front for loan sharking.
With no connections and no background, Du Yuwei could only swallow her pride, sell her home, and borrow money from friends and family to scrape together the 1.7 million to repay them.
Du Yuwei thought that after paying the 1.7 million, it would be over, but surprisingly, the other party added another 220,000 in interest. Unable to find more money, Du Yuwei had no choice but to hide.
Yang Biao's gang didn't let her off. One day, Du Yuwei was at her company handling some matters when she was surrounded inside the company by Yang Biao's gang.
With no money in the company accounts, Du Yuwei had no option but to beg them for a few more days, only to be violently beaten by the gang members without a word.
After hearing about the situation, the company employees rushed to Du Yuwei's office to angrily chastise the gang.
Du Yuwei was a law-abiding businesswoman and treated her employees well. One older employee named Zhang Laixiang had his wife's hospital expenses covered by Du Yuwei when she needed money, so seeing Du Yuwei beaten like this, he couldn't hold back his anger and grabbed a wooden stick to take on Yang Biao's gang.
The gang members weren't to be trifled with and immediately beat Zhang Laixiang severely, leaving him badly injured.
Seeing this, some employees immediately dialed 110, but when the police arrived, they ordered Yang Biao's gang to leave the company quickly. However, the gang wasn't afraid and even challenged the police.
There were only three or four police officers, and seeing the gang's attitude made them fearful, so they said a couple of face-saving sentences, "You can ask for money, but don't beat people."
Once the police left, Yang Biao's gang became even more arrogant, pulling Du Yuwei into an office. One member even took off his pants and flaunted his repulsive thing in front of Du Yuwei, hitting her face with it repeatedly.
The others joined in and displayed their own repulsive things, taking turns emotionally and physically attacking Du Yuwei.
Unable to tolerate any longer, Du Yuwei's assistant cursed them, only to be dragged inside and similarly harassed.
The other employees became furious and loudly cursed these beasts. But the gang was arrogant; one even drew a gun, threatening, "Anyone who dares to come in will be killed."
Du Yuwei's son Dong Xiaobao, a high school senior at East Sea County Middle School, didn't return home after school but went straight to his mother's company. Upon seeing the scene, he couldn't restrain his anger.
Despite his fury, Dong Xiaobao was aware enough to immediately call the police again.
This time, two officers arrived, including Bian Yubao, a less than thirty-year-old officer from the area, who was enraged by the gang's actions upon seeing the scene and immediately drew his gun, aiming at them.
With Bian Yubao's threat, the gang didn't react, and two even rushed at Bian Yubao to punch him down to the ground.
Unable to watch his mother being humiliated, Dong Xiaobao quickly ran to the neighboring office, grabbed a knife, and charged in to fight the gang.
Despite only being eighteen or nineteen, Dong Xiaobao was the strongest boy at school and managed to stab four of them in the brawl.
Yang Biao's gang had seen reckless people before but never anyone as relentless as Dong Xiaobao, and they scattered in fear.
Four of Yang Biao's gang were stabbed by Dong Xiaobao; one died en route to the hospital, and another died after arriving at the hospital.
The police immediately intervened and arrested Dong Xiaobao. After months of interrogation, the court sentenced him for deliberate homicide.
Because Dong Xiaobao was already eighteen, he was sentenced to death.
Du Yuwei couldn't let her son die unjustly, so she sought help everywhere, but after several months, no progress was made.
With her son about to face execution, Du Yuwei was desperate, akin to a headless fly, and approached Ma Yilin's father.
Ma Yilin's father taught at a middle school in Jiangbei City and is already retired at home. After hearing the story from Du Yuwei, he couldn't help but become furiously angry. What era is it now, yet such things are still happening.
Ma Yilin's father wanted to help Du Yuwei, but he didn't have the capability. He thought of his son-in-law Zhou Kai, maybe he could be of help, so he called Ma Yilin.
Ma Yilin heard about this, and based on her personality, she couldn't just ignore it. She asked Du Yuwei to come to her office, and while discussing the matter, Tang Yumeng suddenly walked in.
Ma Yilin initially planned to call Zhou Kai to see if he had any ideas, but when Tang Yumeng suddenly entered, a thought struck her. She immediately had Du Yuwei recount her experience to Tang Yumeng.
After listening to Du Yuwei's accusations, Tang Yumeng's face was blazing with anger. She stood up furiously and said, "This is utterly lawless. I'm definitely taking charge of this matter."
Just as she finished speaking, Tang Yumeng's phone rang. It was undoubtedly Luo Guoqing calling.
Tang Yumeng answered the phone and said, "Old Luo, come in immediately. I'm in the office of the Minister of Administration."
Luo Guoqing heard the anger in Tang Yumeng's voice over the phone and didn't know what had happened. He quickly told Nuo Xiaoxi to wait in the car and came to Ma Yilin's office at Sichuan University Group.
When Luo Guoqing entered, he saw three women in the office, one of them crying, and another with an angry expression. Most importantly, the anger on Tang Yumeng's face was even more pronounced.
"Secretary Tang, what's happened?" Although Tang Yumeng was no longer the City Committee Secretary, Luo Guoqing still referred to her as such.
Tang Yumeng, full of anger, looked at Luo Guoqing and said, "Old Luo, sit down and listen to Sister Du talk about what happened to her."
Luo Guoqing paused slightly, but he sat down. Du Yuwei then recounted her experience to him once more.
Luo Guoqing has a straightforward personality and is considered a man of integrity. After hearing about Du Yuwei's experience, he couldn't help but curse, "Damn it, these bastards are hardly human, just a bunch of beasts."
Luo Guoqing is now the Deputy Minister of the City Committee Organization Department. Tang Yumeng looked at him and said, "Old Luo, how do you think this should be handled?"
Luo Guoqing said, "Let's do this, Sister Du. First, write down your situation in a document. Tomorrow, come to the City Committee Organization Department to find me. I'll hand it over to Secretary Hu of the Political and Legal Committee."
Secretary Hu refers to Old Hu, the original Director of Public Security in Jiangbei City.
After Luo Guoqing finished speaking, Tang Yumeng immediately said, "Old Luo, I feel like now isn't the time to follow procedure. Instead, we won't be going to your house for dinner today. Call Old Hu, and we'll head directly to East Sea County."
Luo Guoqing paused again but followed Tang Yumeng's arrangement anyway and called Old Hu, saying Secretary Tang requested him to come to Sichuan University Group at once.
Since becoming the Political and Legal Committee Secretary, Old Hu's work has become much easier. He had just finished work and was preparing to eat dinner when he received the call from Luo Guoqing, and he put down his bowl and left.
To be honest, Tang Yumeng had a significant role in Old Hu becoming the City Committee Political and Legal Secretary. Moreover, although Tang Yumeng is no longer the Jiangbei City Secretary, Old Hu is somewhat aware of her background.
"Old Hu, why are you in such a hurry? Can't you go after dinner?" Old Hu's wife called out from behind.
Old Hu glared at his wife and said, "Woman, don't bother me."
It didn't take fifteen minutes before Old Hu arrived at Sichuan University Group, where Tang Yumeng, Luo Guoqing, Du Yuwei, and Ma Yilin were already waiting downstairs.
"Secretary Tang, what are your orders?" Old Hu hurriedly asked upon seeing Tang Yumeng.
Tang Yumeng waved her hand and said to Old Hu, "There's no time to explain now; I'll talk to you slowly after we're in the car. Quickly start the car and follow us to East Sea County."
Old Hu was a bit puzzled. Tang Yumeng had already gotten into Old Hu's car, so Old Hu followed suit. Meanwhile, Luo Guoqing told Nuo Xiaoxi to go to his house on her own, grabbed Du Yuwei, and followed Tang Yumeng to East Sea County.
Ma Yilin had initially wanted to go along to see, but after thinking it through, she felt it wasn't appropriate and chose not to go.
East Sea County is to the east of Jiangbei City, more than a hundred kilometers away.
After nearly two hours of fast driving, they reached East Sea County Town at about 7:30 PM. It's winter now, and it gets dark earlier, so when they arrived, the sky was completely shrouded in darkness.
On the way, Tang Yumeng briefly explained Du Yuwei's situation to Old Hu, and only then did Old Hu understand why Tang Yumeng had brought him here.
Upon arriving in East Sea County Town, the group didn't get out of the car but drove straight to the East Sea County Public Security Bureau.
