Chapter 1085 - 1083: Clash
Slyx remarked, "You really are quite boring."
Lin Chuan concealed his dagger in his sleeve and flanked Slyx, moving left and right toward the guards.
Lin Chuan was fast, but Slyx moved even faster, and his actions were silent.
Indeed, a master, Lin Chuan felt invigorated, eager to compete with Slyx, secretly boosting all his strength, and simultaneously reached three meters behind the guards with Slyx.
The two guards heard something behind them and turned around with their guns. In the blink of an eye, Lin Chuan swiftly attacked with the military dagger hidden in his sleeve, slicing through the guard's throat before he could react.
Slyx's attack speed was in no way inferior to Lin Chuan's; he caught a guard with a backhand move and broke his neck.
After taking down the guards, they swiftly flew to a concealment point two meters ahead, hiding just as the spotlight illuminated the area.
"Nice moves," Lin Chuan whispered to Slyx with a thumbs-up.
Slyx replied in the same way, "You're not too bad yourself, Lin Chuan."
In front of their hiding place to the left, three guards were chatting in incomprehensible Arabic.
Slyx pointed at the three guards and made a series of hand gestures to Lin Chuan, gestures only used by special forces, which Lin Chuan immediately understood. Slyx was suggesting they attack together to swiftly eliminate the three guards.
Lin Chuan made an OK gesture, and both of them simultaneously emerged from hiding, sprinting toward the guards at top speed.
Lin Chuan reached the guards first, dropping down and sweeping his legs at the feet of two guards on the right.
Slyx's attack style differed from Lin Chuan's; he lunged directly at a guard, grabbing his back and pulling hard, as the cold blade flashed across the guard's throat.
Lin Chuan knocked the two guards to the ground before they could shout, spun his body, and rose to deliver blows with his fists, knocking the guards unconscious.
After dealing with the three guards, Lin Chuan and Slyx didn't pause, swiftly splitting up and hiding in different directions.
These guards were just the outer perimeter, approximately fifty meters from the base.
Lin Chuan hid behind an abandoned car, using the spotlight's illumination to spot Slyx about three meters to his left, concealed behind a large stone.
The area was littered with abandoned vehicles and large stones, making it puzzling for Lin Chuan how these stones wound up in the desert.
About twenty meters ahead, there were seven or eight guards patrolling back and forth, and trying to take them out without detection felt impossible.
The guards were dispersed and close together; even if they took out three or four simultaneously, the others would notice. Moreover, the spotlight above the building added to the challenge.
Lin Chuan looked at Slyx to his left and gestured, meaning how should they deal with the guards.
Slyx pondered for a moment, responded with a series of gestures suggesting Lin Chuan handle three guards while he took care of the rest.
Lin Chuan nodded at Slyx and pointed at the three guards to his right, indicating they were his target.
Slyx smiled at Lin Chuan and, as the spotlight moved away, suddenly dashed from behind the stone. Lin Chuan, seeing Slyx move, also darted out from behind the abandoned car.
Under the dim night, both advanced quickly, covering the twenty-meter distance in a flash. Just then, a guard spotted them and shouted.
The other guards turned, each wielding AK47 assault rifles, aiming at the charging Lin Chuan and Slyx.
Seeing this, Lin Chuan thought, "This is bad," rolled on the ground, and fired three shots from his waist gun.
Slyx also dropped to the ground, firing several shots at the guards.
Both were experts, and their shots hit the guards, taking them down before they could retaliate.
Though they eliminated the guards, their presence was exposed, and alarms sounded as about a dozen more guards rushed in.
Lin Chuan, without checking on Slyx, unstrapped his portable submachine gun and started firing at the incoming guards. Simultaneously, Slyx started firing at the guards with his submachine gun.
In an instant, the air was filled with gunfire.
The first few guards were hit by bullets, collapsing, while the others began to return fire.
"Lin Chuan, retreat!" Slyx shouted to Lin Chuan while shooting.
At this moment, Lin Chuan had no choice but to retreat, because behind the dozen guards, another thirty or so people rushed out.
The two used rocks and abandoned cars as cover, shooting while rapidly retreating.
Not far away, other members of the assault team who had not yet moved heard gunfire and rushed over.
The gunfight began between both sides. Although Lin Chuan's twenty or so men fought back vigorously, the enemy's numbers kept growing, with at least two to three hundred people rushing over, and still increasing.
"Lin Chuan, there are too many on the other side. We've been exposed, retreat immediately," Slyx shouted loudly.
After firing a burst of bullets, Lin Chuan said to Slyx, "Alright, you take the people and retreat first, I'll cover the rear."
And so they fought and retreated simultaneously, retreating all the way to two kilometers away, yet the enemy kept pursuing relentlessly, and their numbers continued to rise.
This was a group of organized, disciplined Al-Qaeda members, thinking of destroying them with just the twenty or so people they had, was simply a pipe dream.
Lin Chuan cursed himself for being too careless. He should have realized earlier that, having dealt with Amu Han before, he could discern the opponent's strength just from the quantity of food traded with him.
Lin Chuan shouted to all the assault team members, "Use all the heavy weapons we brought, push them back first!" After saying this, he took out a grenade he carried and threw one out.
All the team members took out grenades and threw them toward the enemy.
Boom...
The massive explosion and rising flames illuminated almost half the sky.
After countless grenades exploded, Lin Chuan and his team quickly retreated; the enemy seemed disoriented by the intense blasts and didn't pursue.
They retreated almost ten kilometers from the base before they saw the enemy hadn't chased them, allowing them to finally breathe a sigh of relief as they sat on the sandy ground to rest.
Lin Chuan and Slyx sat nearby with a map spread out before them; Lin Chuan illuminated it with a flashlight and said to Slyx, "Now we should be here, we must contact the CIA quickly, have them send a plane to get us to safety."
Slyx frowned and said, "Yes, it's currently one in the morning. If we can't evacuate by daybreak, at first light, they'll likely start searching here, putting us at a disadvantage."
Lin Chuan agreed with Slyx's assessment. The Al-Qaeda faction established their main base in this desolate desert. If they couldn't retreat with the assault team before dawn, the enemy would attack them, relying on their familiarity with the desert terrain.
Lin Chuan took out his cell phone but discovered that in the desert, there was no signal whatsoever.
Just as Lin Chuan was trying to contact the CIA, a base organization emergency meeting was being held by Amu Han within their camp.
"Leader, judging by the opponent's firepower, it should be a United States assault team," a thirty-something man with a small mustache said to Amu Han.
"Damn those Americans, last time's lesson wasn't enough," Amu Han cursed and said, "It seems our retaliation against the United States is far from sufficient; notify our people in the United States to launch an attack against them tomorrow."
"Leader, we've lost about twenty people tonight; we cannot let those who attacked us go," the man with a mustache said.
Amu Han waved his hand and said, "There's no rush; this area for miles around is all desert. As long as they haven't been picked up, by daybreak this place will be their grave; I want their bodies torn to pieces."
Meanwhile, on Lin Chuan's side, luckily he was prepared, taking out a wireless GPS locator and finally contacting the CIA.
An hour later, two Black Hawk helicopters arrived at Lin Chuan's location and took them all to the United States Embassy in Iraq.
At the United States Embassy in Iraq, Lin Chuan and Slyx sat in a room.
"Chief, judging by your skills, you are definitely not an ordinary policeman. Can you tell me your true identity?" Lin Chuan sipped some red wine and looked at Slyx.
During this operation, Lin Chuan completely witnessed Slyx's skills, which were no less impressive than his own.
Slyx furrowed his eyebrows slightly and said, "Lin Chuan, I'll tell you, I am just an ordinary American policeman, with no true identity."
Lin Chuan smiled slightly and said, "Chief, I won't pressure you, I was just casually asking; since you don't want to say, I won't ask more."
Slyx stared at Lin Chuan for quite a while, and suddenly sighed, saying, "Lin Chuan, you really are a bastard."
Lin Chuan laughed heartily and said, "Thanks for the compliment, Chief."
Slyx said, "Lin Chuan, you're the world's best special forces soldier, and the pride of China's Dark Soldier unit; but do you know, besides a few famous special forces, the United States also has a National Security Action Group directly commanded by the president."
