Chapter 1073 - 1071: Asking Xiao Han for Help
Lin Chuan looked at Yang Zi, whose face was filled with anger, and said, "Fine, let's put this aside for now. Was it you who orchestrated the car accident involving Secretary Tang's assistant, Xiao Xue?"
"Lin Chuan, let me tell you, don't arbitrarily pin crimes on me." Yang Zi neither admitted nor denied.
Lin Chuan took a deep breath and said, "I must find out the truth about Xiao Xue's death. I hope it wasn't you."
"Lin Chuan, since you don't believe me, why come to me at all? If you have evidence, just accuse me. Leave, I don't want to see you again." Yang Zi's enthusiasm completely vanished. Her eyes were filled with despair, yet there was a hint of expectation.
The despair was due to Lin Chuan's attitude towards her, the expectation was the hope that Lin Chuan could come back to her embrace.
Lin Chuan didn't say another word, turned around, opened the office door, and walked out.
"Lin Chuan." Yang Zi shouted, wanting to chase after him, but realized her clothes were disheveled and quickly retreated. After tidying up, she chased after him, but Lin Chuan was already gone.
Bam...
With no outlet for her anger, Yang Zi grabbed a pen holder from her desk and smashed it out with force, the pen holder fell to the ground, making a shattering sound.
"Lin Chuan, you bastard, if I can't have you, then no other woman will either," Yang Zi muttered to herself with a venomous tone.
...
Fukuoka, Japan.
Lu Dapao managed to keep his life, but he would have to stay in bed for three months.
Zhou Kai sat by Lu Dapao's bedside, watching him lying there speechless and not eating, lost in his thoughts. Zhou Kai sighed and said, "Dapao, take it easy. Don't make yourself like this over a Japanese woman."
"Kai, I'm fine, just feeling a bit down." Lu Dapao forced a smile on his face as he spoke.
Zhou Kai couldn't quite grasp Lu Dapao's feelings at that moment, but he could tell from his face that he hadn't really let go of the issue with Meihui. He said, "Dapao, enough said. I plan to send you back home once you recover a bit."
Lu Dapao laughed and said, "Kai, I'm not going back. I want to carve out a place for myself with you here, to be worthy of Lin Chuan's support."
People grow slowly through continuous trials. After the incident, Lu Dapao changed and spoke with less flamboyance and more maturity.
Zhou Kai held Lu Dapao's hand and said, "Good brother."
The hospital room door opened, and Qingzi entered, carrying some fruits.
"Miss Qingzi, you're here, please sit." Zhou Kai quickly stood up with a smile and said.
Qingzi smiled warmly and said, "No need to be so formal, Lu Dapao, are you feeling better?"
Lu Dapao struggled to sit up, but Qingzi quickly pressed him down.
"I'm much better now, thank you for your concern, Miss Qingzi," Lu Dapao said.
After some small talk, Qingzi asked Zhou Kai, "Do you know where Lin Chuan is now?"
Zhou Kai knew about Qingzi's relationship with Lin Chuan, and considering that if it weren't for Qingzi arriving with reinforcements last time, he and the brothers from Jvyi Gang might have been done for. He said, "Lin Chuan was still in Washington some days ago. Recently, I'm not sure where he is."
Qingzi slightly furrowed her brows and said, "Can you get in touch with him?"
Zhou Kai nodded and said, "I probably can. Why, is there an important matter Miss Qingzi wants to discuss with him?"
Qingzi said, "Do you remember Bai Yifan from Hong Gate?"
The two certainly remembered this guy, who was nearly killed by Lin Chuan and Jvyi Gang at the time.
Seeing Zhou Kai nod, Qingzi continued, "Recently, this guy has resurfaced and is actively contacting some gangs. It seems like he's planning to make a move against you all."
"Damn, does he really dare to come at us? I'll waste him," Lu Dapao, though changed a lot, still spoke in this manner.
Qingzi said, "You absolutely must not be careless. From what I know, this time he's not only connected with the Mountain Unit and Triad but also some Middle Eastern extremists."
Zhou Kai sensed the danger in Qingzi's words. His brothers might be good at fighting gangs, but if extremists were targeting them, they were not at all ready for that.
"Miss Qingzi, please wait a moment while I contact Lin Chuan," said Zhou Kai, taking out his phone to call Lin Chuan.
At that moment, Lin Chuan was with Luo Guoqing at the Municipal Public Security Bureau, carefully reviewing retrieved surveillance footage to track down Xiao Xue's killer.
Receiving Zhou Kai's call, Lin Chuan asked, "Kai, how's Dapao doing?"
Zhou Kai replied, "Lin Chuan, Dapao is fine now. Miss Qingzi wants to speak with you."
"Lin Chuan, where are you? Do you miss me?" Qingzi took the phone from Zhou Kai and joked with Lin Chuan.
Lin Chuan's laughter came through the phone: "Of course, I miss you. Did you call for something?"
Qingzi immediately pouted and said unhappily into the phone: "What, can't I just talk to you without a reason?"
Lin Chuan's somewhat awkward voice came through: "I'm sorry, what's the matter?"
"Here's the thing, we've recently discovered that Bai Yifan has contacted several gangs and some Middle Eastern militants. It seems like he's planning to make a move against Jvyi Gang in Fukuoka." Qingzi said.
As soon as Qingzi mentioned Middle Eastern militants, Lin Chuan immediately thought of Amu Han. He was surprised that Bai Yifan had gotten involved with those people.
"Qingzi, I still have some unfinished business in Jiangbei City. Can you handle things over there first? As soon as I'm done here, I'll come over." Lin Chuan said after pondering for a moment.
Qingzi said, "Alright, you hurry to Japan. I miss you a lot."
…
United States Central Intelligence Agency.
An agent hurriedly walked into Everson's office. "Director, our commando team in Iraq was met with strong resistance from the opposition, and all fifteen members were killed."
"What did you say? Say it again." Everson suddenly stood up, looking at the incoming agent with astonishment.
The agent repeated what he just said.
"Damn." Everson cursed, then waved his hand to signal the agent to leave.
As soon as that agent left, another one walked in, saying, "Director, several unidentified Middle Eastern individuals have entered our country in the past few days. We suspect they might be terrorists. Should we arrest them immediately?"
Everson frowned tightly and said, "Without conclusive evidence, don't take action yet, but keep a close watch on them."
"Yes, Sir." The agent turned and left.
Before he could sit down for two minutes, the phone rang again. Upon answering, Everson realized it was President Omama calling and immediately greeted respectfully, "Mr. President."
"What is your CIA doing?" President Omama's voice sounded very angry over the phone. "The opposition leader directly called my house, threatening to retaliate against my family."
Everson was startled, and sweat immediately appeared on his face. "Mr. President, it's my fault for negligence. I'll arrange personnel immediately to strengthen the protection of your family."
"Counting on you to protect my family, I think not. You immediately deploy the commandos to attack with full force and ensure Amu Han is captured." President Omama ordered.
Everson cautiously said into the phone, "Mr. President, I have very bad news to report. I just received intelligence that our commandos in Iraq were all killed while attacking the base."
President Omama was suddenly silent on the phone, and after a long pause, he said, "As the director of the CIA, you're responsible for this. I don't care what method you use, but you must capture Amu Han."
Everson wanted to say something, but President Omama had already hung up the phone.
Putting down the phone, Everson truly felt overwhelmed. These extremist militants were really abhorrent. He had to find a way to eliminate them and get out of his predicament first.
Lin Chuan's image appeared in his mind. Perhaps only Lin Chuan could eliminate those guys.
When pursuing Mu Zhengqing, Lin Chuan had once promised Everson to do him a favor. Now it seemed it was time to ask Lin Chuan for help.
The agent who had left earlier was called back in by Everson's secretary. He ordered the immediate arrest of those unidentified Middle Eastern individuals, regardless of whether they were the right people or not. He couldn't afford any more incidents; if more happened, his position as director would be at risk.
…
According to surveillance, the off-road jeep that hit Xiao Xue fled west down the street and disappeared in a surveillance blind spot. Fortunately, they found the license plate number from the surveillance footage.
After going to the traffic police there, Lin Chuan and Luo Guoqing learned that the owner of the car was called Zheng Yonglin. The two immediately rushed to the West District to find Zheng Yonglin.
On Victory Road in the West District, Lin Chuan and Luo Guoqing found Zheng Yonglin.
Zheng Yonglin was not very old, around twenty-five or twenty-six, and owned a car repair shop. According to him, the off-road jeep was indeed his, but it was stolen the day before Xiao Xue's accident, and he reported it.
To verify Zheng Yonglin's statement, Lin Chuan and Luo Guoqing went to the police station where Zheng Yonglin reported the theft, and indeed, what Zheng Yonglin said was true.
At this point, it seemed all leads were cut off. Lin Chuan did not lose heart. He and Luo Guoqing found Zheng Yonglin again to ask where the car was parked when it was stolen.
Zheng Yonglin said the car was parked outside his residential compound at the time. Lin Chuan and Luo Guoqing immediately went to Zheng Yonglin's residential area, and with the cooperation of the local police station, they conducted a thorough check of the nearby surveillance footage.
Hard work pays off. On the surveillance footage at the entrance of the residential area, they finally found the person who stole the car.
From the footage, the car thief appeared to be a young man in his twenties with bleached yellow hair, dressed somewhat eccentrically, clearly looking like a street thug.
