Chapter 1008 - 1005: Persuasion to Surrender
Before he could finish his sentence, Silver Fox aimed the gun at his head: "Even if you're with the CIA, do you believe I could blow your brains out right now?"
...
After questioning these two guys, they claimed ignorance and only confessed that they were sent by Director Everson to monitor them.
Silver Fox didn't glean any useful information from them and, not wanting to waste more time, got back in the car and headed towards the Green Hotel.
Upon arriving at the entrance of the Green Hotel, Zhou Kai had already arranged for Li Qiang to greet Tang Yumeng.
As Silver Fox entered the hotel, he surveyed the surroundings and noticed that Zhou Kai and his team were also under surveillance.
The three followed Li Qiang to Zhou Rui's room, and when Zhou Kai saw that Tang Yumeng was accompanied by two very beautiful women, he couldn't help but be surprised.
Tang Yumeng quickly introduced, "These two are good friends of Lin Chuan; they are here primarily to discuss how to rescue Lin Chuan."
Zhou Kai, now understanding, warmly invited the three into the room. Zhou Rui, known as Little Pepper, upon seeing Tang Yumeng, felt somewhat uneasy, knowing all along about Tang Yumeng's relationship with Lin Chuan. She nodded with a forced smile at Tang Yumeng.
After everyone sat down, Silver Fox straightforwardly asked, "You're all Lin Chuan's good friends. What's your plan to rescue him?"
Zhou Kai responded, "We haven't come up with a solution yet, but I've already sent people to check the surroundings of Washington prison. If necessary, we'll storm the prison."
Blue Fox looked at Zhou Kai and the others with a trace of disdain in her eyes: "With just you guys, thinking of storming the world's most secure prison, I'm afraid..."
Lu Dapao was not pleased to hear this: "Why, looking down on us? Back in the day, we survived through blood and fire with Brother Chuan. Even if Washington prison is a fortress, we will break through."
Huang Bo chimed in behind Lu Dapao: "Our Jvyi Gang has brought two hundred people this time, none of whom are thinking of going back without the boss."
Although Zhou Kai was unaware of Silver Fox and Blue Fox's true identity, Blue Fox's disdain for the Jvyi Gang irritated him, his expression darkening. Silver Fox, clearly noticing this, quickly gave Blue Fox a sharp look.
"Zhou Kai, trying to break Lin Chuan out of prison is a death mission. We need another plan," Silver Fox shifted the topic back to Lin Chuan.
Zhou Kai asked, "What's your plan then?"
Silver Fox replied, "On the way here, we dealt with a few CIA agents and learned from them that to find out Lin Chuan's exact whereabouts, we must find one person."
"Who?" Zhou Kai and the others asked almost in unison.
Silver Fox said, "Everson, the director of the CIA in the United States."
...
Everson reluctantly visited Washington prison for the third time; dealing with Lin Chuan had been causing him headaches for days now.
When the two agents brought out Lin Chuan and presented him before Everson, seeing Lin Chuan injured, Everson feigned anger and scolded the agents: "Who told you to treat Mr. Lin this way?"
The two agents exchanged glances, both showing a hint of dissatisfaction, while secretly cursing Everson's ancestors.
This charade was all too familiar to Lin Chuan, and he raised a slight cold smirk while sitting down, crossing his legs and resting them on the table without uttering a word.
Everson sat down opposite Lin Chuan, forcing a smile on his face, saying, "Mr. Lin, I apologize. My two subordinates were terribly disrespectful. I must handle them properly."
Lin Chuan chuckled coldly and unceremoniously replied, "Spare me the performance; I won't agree to your terms, so stop wasting your efforts."
Despite his irritation, Everson managed to keep an amiable face, saying, "Mr. Lin, let's not speak too hastily. The President wishes to see you; I hope you'll consider it seriously."
The two agents beside Lin Chuan were dumbfounded. Who was this guy who even the President wanted to meet personally?
Lin Chuan laughed heartily, "Got a smoke? Give me one."
Everson was momentarily stunned and asked the two agents, "Who's got a cigarette? Give him one."
The agent on the left pulled out a pack, took one out, and handed it to Lin Chuan.
With the cigarette held between his lips, Lin Chuan motioned for the other agent, who was about to light it for him, to stop and gazed at Everson instead.
Holding back his annoyance, Everson took the lighter from the agent and lit the cigarette for Lin Chuan.
The two agents were even more baffled. They had heard about Lin Chuan leading an assault on a U.S. camp, killing many American soldiers, and now, not only did the President want to meet him, but even the CIA director had to light his cigarette. This was something unheard of through the ages.
Lin Chuan took a deep drag and exhaled, looking quite content.
"Mr. Lin, let's go see the President now," Everson said, a hint of cunning flashing in his eyes.
Lin Chuan slightly shook his head, his gaze sweeping over Everson, and said, "Why should I meet your president? Give me a reason."
Everson was at a loss, this young man clearly knew why the president wanted to see him, yet he was deliberately pretending.
"Mr. Lin, there is a Chinese proverb, 'a wise man submits to circumstances.' I think Mr. Lin should know why the president wants to meet you, so why ask knowingly?"
Lin Chuan laughed heartily, and said, "I've already made it clear, asking me to betray my country is absolutely impossible. If your president wants to see me about this, then forget it."
Everson finally couldn't tolerate Lin Chuan's attitude any longer, glaring at Lin Chuan in anger, saying, "Mr. Lin, I've spoken nicely, but it seems you still don't understand the situation. You must see the president today."
After finishing, he instructed the two agents, "Change his clothes and bring him to see the president immediately."
Omama's meeting with Lin Chuan took place in one of his private villas, since Lin Chuan was not an official guest, after all.
Several black cars drove into the villa, stopping at the entrance.
A dozen agents first got out of the cars, followed by Everson from the front car, and finally, Lin Chuan emerged from the middle car.
Lin Chuan had already changed into a very clean suit, his gaze wandering around, noticing numerous bodyguards.
Under the escort of two agents, Lin Chuan followed Everson into the villa.
Everson knew very well who Lin Chuan was, to ensure President Omama's safety, he had put a special pair of handcuffs on Lin Chuan before arriving.
These handcuffs were made with the latest technology, even top experts couldn't open them.
The first floor of the villa was a very large living room, decorated very elegantly.
The walls were covered with pale yellow patterned wallpaper, and the floor was fully carpeted.
Upon entering the villa, there was no sight of Omama. Everson first let Lin Chuan sit down, then he also sat down beside him, and coffee was immediately served.
In less than five minutes, footsteps were heard from the stairs, and then President Omama of the United States came down.
Seeing Omama, Everson immediately stood up, and the two agents also behaved very respectfully. Lin Chuan did not rise, and didn't even glance at Omama.
"Mr. Lin, the president is here." Everson hurriedly tugged at Lin Chuan's clothing.
China has always been a land of etiquette since ancient times, and no matter what, one cannot lose etiquette in front of the American president. Lin Chuan stood up, slightly bowed to Omama, and said, "Your Excellency, the President, hello."
Omama quickly approached, with a smile on his face, and extended his hand, saying, "Lin Chuan, haha, I've heard a lot about you."
Lin Chuan chuckled, extending his handcuffed hands, and said, "Sorry, Your Excellency, I can't shake hands with you."
Omama looked at Everson, a slight anger appearing on his face, "What's going on here?"
Everson awkwardly said, "This is for your safety, Your Excellency..."
"Nonsense, Mr. Lin is my invited guest, quickly open the handcuffs." Omama said to Everson with a very stern tone.
Everson hesitated a bit, as this concerned the president's safety. If anything happened, as the director of the CIA, he would have a hard time explaining it.
Seeing Everson's hesitation, Omama glanced at Lin Chuan and said, "Mr. Lin is a smart man, how could he do anything against me? Right, Mr. Lin?"
Lin Chuan laughed, "Your Excellency, President, you are the leader of the world's strongest nation. Even if you gave me a thousand guts, I wouldn't dare disrespect you."
Lin Chuan's words held a double meaning. On the surface, it expressed his attitude, but it was actually a subtle mockery of Omama, with more implied meaning left unsaid.
Everson unlocked Lin Chuan's handcuffs, and Omama took the initiative to shake hands with him, then sat down.
"Mr. Lin, I've heard a lot about your matters. I'm sure you know the purpose of my meeting you this time. What is your consideration?" Omama said, taking a sip of the coffee in front of him and then looking at Lin Chuan.
Lin Chuan smiled faintly and said, "Your Excellency, President, I believe you know that I am a soldier."
Omama nodded.
Lin Chuan continued, "As a soldier, the primary condition is loyalty to one's country. I assume Your Excellency agrees with this."
Omama nodded again.
Lin Chuan added, "If I agreed to your conditions, that would mean betraying my country, losing the dignity a soldier should have, and that is something I absolutely cannot do."
Omama smiled and said, "But Mr. Lin, you need to understand clearly, you killed so many of our soldiers, and from our country's legal perspective, this is unforgivable. You know better than I do what the consequences might be."
Lin Chuan said, "Your Excellency, President, first, I need to correct your point of view. It was your country's soldiers who created a crisis on another nation's soil, and I had no choice but to act."
