Chapter 282: One Attack
———Luik———
<9: 22 AM>
“*Cough* Haaah...” It seems to come out of nowhere. That massive building, or at least a part of it, swung down on top of all of us. Why is that damn thing so big? I swear I didn’t see any building that massive around here, and it’s not the center building either.
*Dash* *Punch* *Launch*
Before the smoke completely clears, I can see someone getting punched high into the sky by Emmie. Talk about bad luck, but hopefully they can recover in time. I’m not even sure how long this will go on for, there should be no world where a battle that isn’t on a massive scale on both ends should go on for even half an hour, and yet it had been going past that at this point.
*Dash* *Clash* *Clang*
The previous routine continued, but thanks to the sudden and surprising attack of a chunk of a building so large it could’ve been Kowloon Walled City, the group seems to be more scattered and less coordinated. It doesn’t help that the giant chunk of building falling to the ground like that creates uneven terrain with caved in roads and piles of rubble and miscellaneous furniture scattered everywhere.
*Slash* *Scatter* *Crumble*
Of course, even random attacks being thrown out could clear them off pretty quickly just from the large amount of force in each attack, but the clutter still works more in Emmie’s favor since it disrupts team coordination, she has no need to worry about such a thing.
*Swing* *Clash* *Clang*
Qyunda had been a pretty frequent contributor to this fight. Most people only last for one or two attacks before needing to bow out, but she and Malk are very persistent and seem to have a lot of stamina to spare, even their fellow classmates seem to be way more careful with their stamina consumption and making sure they don’t tire themselves out. These two get back up really quickly to continue the fight and wear her down more and more.
*Slash* *Tackle*
Malk quickly joined in to string combos on the scythe-wielder, dishing out more punishment and pressuring her to use another big attack that would tire her out more.
*Whip* *Strike* *Swing* **Evade**
Suddenly those silks appeared out of the ground and began attacking them, causing them to quickly get out of the way and leaving Emmie alone for a brief movement.
Just what in the world is the true limit of that [Weaving] ability?
*Grab* *Throw*
Before anyone else could get close to her, Thansa grabbed her from behind and then suddenly threw her into the air before Emmie could react.
*Zip* *Bash* *Zip* *Claw* *Zip* *Strike*
Both Kenni and Galed then fly towards her and start dishing out damage, knocking her around like they’re playing ping pong.
*Zip* *Swerve* *Clash*
It took a while but Emmie took back control of the situation and quickly suspended her momentum before she could get hit and began flying around and attacking the two.
Their movements are so hard to track. The ability to fly is certainly quite a cheat.
There are no doubt a lot of limitations and rules to air battle that one would never need to be concerned with while on the ground.
*Zip* *Swing* *Evade*
Like being attacked from below. Normally that kind of approach is either impossible or blatantly obvious, but in the air it’s not a problem. You have to be much more aware of your surroundings and know that you could get attacked from literally every angle.
*Zip* *Bash* *Strike*
She then gets hit by the two attacking from multiple angles that’s nearly impossible to deal with simultaneously. The two birds have insane air mobility that is unmatched by those without the usually bothersome appendage.
*Swing* *Spin* *Bang* *Bang* *Bang*
She then threw her scythe and let it fire at will, causing more chaos as the bullets went flying in all directions and making it hard for anyone to move around freely, needing to avoid the rain of projectiles that she isn’t even bothered by, making it harder for the two to find a good opening to attack her despite being a two-on-one. It doesn’t help that we’re on the ground and still have to worry about those stray projectiles hitting us.
*Zip* *Block*
There is also another caveat of air battle to talk about, the lack of friction in general. Even a weak or blocked attack would’ve sent you flying anyway. Defying gravity came with its own problem.
*Zip* *Kick* *Zip* *Strike*
I don’t fully understand all the specifics of it since I can’t fly, but there are still a few things that are clear from observing. Regardless, I don’t really know how long they can stall her in the air for. She still has a bunch of options to corner them even in the air, and if they got caught they might not survive. At this stage of the battle I think Emmie knew better than to simply try to incapacitate her enemies.
Multiple powerful hits she took no doubt caused her to expend a lot of magical energy to either mitigate the damage done or to repair her body, I think it’s fair to say that maybe she is now at around half of her usual strength, which is certainly a devastating loss.
She probably also doesn't like how the body count isn’t that high right now. Not only did none of the heavy hitters die, but she had only killed around fifty people at this point and time. I haven’t been checking as to how and when, the chaos of the battlefield with so many people jumping her at the same time makes it hard to observe and recount every single little detail.
*Grab* *Snap*
Emmie ambushed Galed from the back and then snapped off one of her wings in one brutal motion.
*Bang* *Slice*
Galed defiantly shot her in the face with the gun barrel hidden in her shield, but it barely missed Emmie before she sliced her torso open and sent her dropping to the ground.
*Zip* *Grab*
Kenni flew over and grabbed Galed before she could hit the ground and retreat. That was way too close for comfort. We almost lost one of our two main transporters to get us out of a pickle quickly.
Emmie then called the scythe back to her hand before landing back down to the ground.
*Dash* *Clash* *Strike* *Parry*
Gregori and Mreak then ran in to meet her at her landing point. Their sword and gauntlets meeting the massive scythe that she held.
*Zap* *Punch*
Gregori threw out a lightning spell that seemed to do something and Mreak followed it up with a punch to the face with his gauntlet.
*Kick* *Bang*
Before he could continue the assault, Emmie kicked him suddenly upward before shooting him with the scythe’s gun thruster.
*Clash* *Swat*
Gregori was then pushed away by her overwhelming power, being sent flying even though he intercepted the attack to make sure he didn’t get hit directly.
*Dash* *Clang* *Parry* *Block*
Evalyn then ran in by herself with that chainsaw of hers and tried to get her hands on Emmie. It’s not looking good right off the bat. She can only throw out a few attacks before quickly folding and going on the defensive.
*Sizz*
She threw out a wall of flames surrounding Emmie to temporarily disorient her while her chainsaw blade seemed to rev up in anticipation.
*Swing* *Slash*
When Emmie emerged out of the wall of flames, she was hit by a slash hitting right on her torso and sending her flying.
Despite the attack connecting and finding a good opportunity to continue dishing out punishment, Evalyn looks extremely exhausted after what seems to be at most a minute of combat. It’s seriously looking like we can sustain ourselves in less amount of time by a noticeable degree.
*Dash* *Swing* *Block*
Jennla ran in and began throwing out a flurry of attacks before Emmie had even a second to breathe. Both of their movements are way more desperate and erratic than before. Emmie losing her protective dress that she can’t create a replacement in the middle of this sort of exchange probably has something to do with it.
*Crackle* *Blast*
Then someone threw out a burst of electricity that Jennla barely got out of the way and hit Emmie directly.
*Sizz* *Blast* *Boom*
And more magical spells were thrown at her while Jennla also began charging up an attack of her own, charging it up in both of her hands.
*Dash* *Clash* *Strike*
Curin and Sixson then jumped in and kept her at bay the moment the magic barrage ceased, keeping her distracted while Jennla’s attack was still charging.
“Fuuu…” I let out a long sigh as I watched the fight continuing to unfold. I don’t really know if Jennla even has enough power left in her body. The first large attack she did burnt her out nearly completely, and I believe we used up a lot of mana pills for her to even be in a fighting condition. I don’t really know how much resource we have left, but with how drawn out the fight had been and our tactic of going full burst and burning our energy at an impractical rate, I don’t think everyone is gonna last much longer. Those who are not very strong but still alive are practically a liability at this point. Despite the large number of players still in the game, I don’t know how many of them can even still fight.
*Dash* *Block* *Clash* *Parry* *Slash* *Bang*
I see many people begin rushing in to stop Emmie from intercepting the attack. Some I know are strong, and some I don’t believe to be. It looks like Jennla’s attack is meant to be the finishing blow considering how long she is charging for. Even ten seconds is simply too long of a charge time in a battle where everyone moves about as fast as a car going past the speed limit.
*Slash* *Strike* *Bash* *Blast*
Multiple attacks were thrown from both sides, the number of fighters on our side slowly dwindling as many didn't seem to have enough energy in them to keep fighting for long and holding the line against Emmie. Despite clearly exhausting herself quite a lot, still has a massive physical advantage over all of us. Usually one or two massive attacks hitting dead-on would’ve been enough, but the massive power gap means even that rule doesn’t work on her.
Everyone is clearly getting desperate and hoping this one attack would finally do it.
*Bang* *Bang*
Two gunshots ran out and they both missed. I think that was from that weapon Lynda had on her. It was quite effective but it looks like she missed more shots. I don’t think she ever dabbled into that field, so unfortunately it’s not surprising that her aim is like that. Perhaps the first shot that landed was more of a fluke.
*Strike* *Kick*
Lynda got targeted for her effort and was sent flying with the gun flying out of her grip before she could store it away.
*Bang* *Bang*
She then pointed them at the crowd coming after her and fired the remaining shots, piercing through multiple people at once and killing them instantly with the insane amount of force of each bullet making it look like all of them were punched through the chest instead of being shot.
There’s not much left standing in the way between Emmie and Jennla at this point. There are still a few people who can still fight that aren’t running on fumes, but I’m not sure if they have the power necessary to hold her off long enough until Jennla can finally finish charging up that attack of hers. Why is it taking so long?
Not to mention the protective dress being slowly created on top of her body for every second we didn’t keep her occupied. We might lose all of our progress again if we don’t do something quickly.
*Dash* *Clash* *Slash*
…I hope they can keep distracting her for a bit longer.
The amount of people tagging in has lessened in frequency and I just need a few seconds of it.
*Crackle* *Vyoom*
They are being taken care of quickly, and then Kist joins in to hold her off for a few more seconds. How many of those guys are even in fighting condition at this point? I wouldn’t be surprised if I didn’t notice some of them running in and getting sent flying before I could register them in my view, since even they could be taken out quickly if they slipped up for even a moment.
*Dash*
With a clear path towards Jennla, Emmie began making her move. I wouldn’t allow it.
Affected by tunnel vision, she didn’t notice me approaching her slowly with my blade completely amped up to increase its cutting power to the maximum.
*Slice*
I think I can see her eyes darting towards me less than a second before my blade connected with her right arm, cutting it off cleanly before she could even react. If she hadn’t been exhausted up to this point, perhaps she would have, but that’s still a blunder on her part.
*Leap* *BLAST*
I quickly jumped out of the way before Jennla finally threw out her attack. A massive beam of energy that hits Emmie and no doubt completely overwhelms her, sending her flying and frying from the full force of the energy beam enveloping her.
“Haaa… Haaaa…” Jennla can barely breathe as she lowered her arms and her legs were wobbly. The beam of light has long since dissipated and Emmie is nowhere to be seen.
…Is it truly over?
*SHINE*
“Huh!?” Suddenly a bright and overwhelming light can be seen at the end of the trail of destruction caused by Jennla’s biggest attack.
This power is…
“Get behind me!” Kenni yelled out as she suddenly appeared out of nowhere and facing the light that keeps getting brighter. It’s seriously sounding like we don’t have any time left!
*BLAST* *BOOM*
