The barrier surrounding the building quickly disappeared, leaving nothing behind and allowing us to get closer to it.

Before all of us could get closer however, the sounds of footsteps coming out of the main entrance of the building caused all of us to pause.

The absurd tension in the air as one individual walked out of the massive building that is the center of the metropolis is hard to describe.

The mousegirl with a blue dress would normally not give out such a menacing aura, but once you set your eyes upon her and stop observing her based on her appearance alone, it became very clear why she’s so feared as a warrior.

Even without feeling any sort of power emitting from her, there’s a sense of dread in the air that everyone felt as she moved forward.

“So. It’s the big shot herself.” Kenni said as she walked forward. “Do you wanna monologue or can we skip the chitchat?”

“You’re the one who loves to talk, you tell me.” Emmie said in response.

Any second now the fight will officially start. No one dared to make the first move or even get close.

“We’ll skip the pleasantries then.” Kenni said before taking a few steps back. “Let’s begin. Now!”

***Blast***

Before anyone else could even move there are suddenly three beams of energy launching from not just Kenni but two other people from out of nowhere, all aiming right at Emmie.

*Blast* *Crash*

Instead of intercepting it she blocked the combined attack and let it carry her through the center building, piercing through it and sending her flying away.

“Move! After her!” Someone yelled out as all of us actually began pursuing her and tried to keep up with whatever plans the others had in mind.

**Zip** *Strike* *Bash*

While all of us were trying to catch up, two people flew high into the sky to meet Emmie and hit her while she’s still suspended in the air, the energy from those beams that were pushing her dissipating from the impact of the two people’s interference, a punch to the face and a shield bash to her torso. It’s Emmie and that shield woman who attacked me a few days ago!

*Zip* *Strike* *Leap* *Bash* *Jump* *Slash*

More people jumped in with attacks of their own, quickly jumping her and continuing the barrage of attacks while the rest of us haven’t even caught up yet.

*Leap* *Swat* *Crash* *Jump* *Kick* *Crash*

Before more people could peppered her with attacks while she is still suspended in the air she suddenly began making her move and intercept each person with a swing of the back of her hand or a sudden and brutal kick, each one sending the would-be assailants into nearby buildings, going through them and a few more buildings in the process.

She’s still in the air, floating there as if she has no idea about her next approach. What is she planning?

*Zip* *Block*

The eagle woman rushed towards her from the back with a shield ready to tackle Emmie, but even using only one arm she managed to intercept and even began pushing back the attack that looked like it was moving at the same speed as a fighter jet.

*Bang* *Smash* *Crash*

Before Emmie could make her move, suddenly a barrel emerged from the center of the shield and hit her right in a fire with a bullet, staggering and launching her back with Kenni following that up with an elbow to the head sending her straight down to the ground.

Many of us on the ground then quickly ran towards her to try to get our own hits in. We can’t simply sit around and not take advantage of the situation.

*Spin* *Swing* *Swirl*

“Whoa!” I and a few others let out a sound in surprise as suddenly something manifested in front of her and spun around, creating a deadly area that would’ve torn us to shreds if we hadn't quickly backed off in time. Hopefully no one got hit by that thing.

*Dash* *Swing* *Parry* *Clash* *Block* *Evade*

Everyone start running around and causing chaos as everyone tried to get a good hit in on her and overwhelm her with the sheer amount of people jumping her, but she managed to avoid and block all attacks coming her way without us being able to do much but retreat less we were caught up in the ensuing counter attack.

*Swing* *Blast*

A casual swing of her scythe caused a massive shockwave that would’ve easily injured or even killed someone if they were right in the middle of its trajectory. Even a vertical swing like that is causing a lot of destruction.

*Swing* *Blast* *Jump*

Before any of us could even attempt to get close to her, she has already launched another energy slash, but this time it’s a horizontal slash that would’ve covered a massive amount of area and washed us away, so we had no choice but to jump out of the way in response to that.

*Bang* *Bang* *Bang*

Before any of us could even touch the ground, the thrusters on the back of her scythe were pointed at us and began firing projectiles, shooting many people out of the air in quick succession.

*Dash* *Clash*

Before that scythe could be aimed at me, someone ran in and intercept her before she could continue her assault.

“You ain’t just gonna focus on the mooks, are ya?” That fake shrine maiden said.

*Clash* *Parry* *Block*

She swung that chainsaw at Emmie with reckless abandon. Its fast-moving chains cause a massive amount of force and friction making any direct contact quite a pain to deal with.

Despite that, Emmie doesn’t really look pressed at the sight of that exotic weapon.

*Bang* *Evade* *Bang* *Graze*

Between each exchange she also spun her scythe around and aimed those thrusters at Evalyn and threw out projectiles that are hard to predict and avoid. Evalyn barely dodged each attack and some even grazed her.

*Leap* *BLAST*

Evalyn then suddenly jumped out of the way as a massive magical blast rained down from the sky and right towards Emmie.

*Sizz* *Swing* *BLAST*

Evalyn followed that up with a fiery projectile coming out of her chainsaw, hitting Emmie right after the smoke cleared.

*Crackle* *Chill* *Launch* *Crash*

Someone on top of a nearby building then launched a massive ice lance towards Emmie. It really looks like they aren’t gonna stop with all these big attacks raining down her way.

*Shatter*

She shattered it quickly after it had crashed into her. She doesn’t look like she had been damaged by any of the attacks so far, as crazy as that seems. Those attacks even though they were solely targeted at one person are causing such a large amount of collateral damage. There’s already a massive sinkhole where Emmie is standing and buildings are starting to collapse from the large amount of force causing the ground to violently shake and the roads to split apart.

I’m not even doing anything and I need to worry about the ground beneath my feet collapsing.

*Dash* *Parry* *Dash* *Clash* *Dash* *Slash*

Multiple people ran in to take a potshot at Emmie, a hit-and-run tactic with multiple moving way too fast for me to keep up and find an opening of my own. I can see a few people I recognize in all those blur but it’s hard for me to make sense of it all.

*Leap* *Swing* *Evade*

She then suddenly decided to jump up high into the sky and try to take a swing at Kenni who was floating there not doing much of anything.

*Blast* *Swat* **Zip**

Kenni tried to retaliate with a basic energy blast but it was easily swatted away and the two began flying around doing mid-air combat again, with Galed also joining in to assist Kenni to make sure she wasn’t overwhelmed.

Everyone else on the ground also began moving and trying to not lose sight of them. Do we really have no other air-combat specialist around here? At least it looks like Emmie can’t fly around as fast as either of them despite her greater strength due to their wings giving them a boost in aerial mobility.

*Zip* *Clash* *Zip* *Strike*

The three began fighting and it’s hard for me to even know what is happening. It’s already hard enough for me to observe people fighting on the ground, let alone in the air.

*Strike* *Crash*

Galed intercepted and took one heavy blow for Kenni and was sent flying even with her shield raised, and she was sent crashing into the center building, leaving another massive hole in the ludicrously massive structure.

Damn it. If only they can stay still. I didn’t even get a single attack in yet! Am I really that outmatched?

*Leap* *Swat*

While I was thinking that someone decided to jump in to intercept her before she and Kenni could continue exchanging attacks, they were unceremoniously swatted away like a fly before I could even make out who that was.

*Grab* *Punch* *Throw* *Crash*

Emmie then grabbed Kenni by her arm and punched her right in the gut before throwing her with enough force to send her flying far away and crash through multiple buildings in the distance.

*Shine* *Crackle*

She then turned her attention towards us who were on the ground and conjured a massive ball of energy that looks like it could wipe us all out. She didn’t even charge it for more than a second!

*Throw*

We need to make a run for it! Will there be enough time?

*Block* *Clash*

Before everyone could run out of the area, someone suddenly ran in and intercepted the giant ball of destruction.

*Strike* *BOOM*

“Haaa… Is that all?” The blue doggirl boasted as she pushed the ball of energy high into the sky and it detonated, causing strong wind that made it seem like a storm suddenly manifested. She even makes a gesture for Emmie to land back down and fight on the ground.

She complies and the two of them seem to have a silent agreement with each other. Am I seriously ever going to get a turn?

*Dash* *Clash*

The two began moving and trading blows that went past each other, though for the most part it looks like Curin is already on the backfoot not even a second into their exchange. She used most of that time avoiding and blocking attacks instead of even getting to retaliate.

*Clash* *Block* *Parry*

The two red weapons kinda blurred into each other as the pace of the battle seemed to get faster and harder to follow.

*Slash* *Bang* *Crash*

And then the exchange ended very suddenly as Emmie hit her with a combo of a scythe swing and a point-blank explosion from her thrusters that seemed to incapacitate her and sent the spearwoman flying and tumbling.

*Shoot* *Pierce*

Something weird then happened. The tip of Curin’s spear was launched out and suddenly hit Emmie in her left arm and lodged into it, and it seemed to also take her by surprise as well, even if her expression isn’t showing it.

*Stab* *Pierce* *Burst*

Before Emmie could even try to remove the tip of the spear from her arm, the tip suddenly burst open like a nasty present, a bunch of spikes bursting out and doing more than just mangling her arm, but causing her arm to be torn off and drop to the ground.

“Move! Now!” Someone else yelled out as suddenly a lot of us began to move and ran towards the now one-armed Emmie.

*Strike* *Block* *Evade* *Swing* *Smack* *Parry*

All of us jumped her at once and were doing surprisingly well against her now that she had been so severely handicapped. Some of us managed to get a few hits in and she was slowly being pushed back.

Now this is looking promising! Some of us were also hit and probably took a lot of damage from her counter attack. Even in this state she is probably still way stronger than any of us individually, but now with her power reduced this is the best time for us to come together and overwhelm her with sheer numbers.

It’s a bit lame to take such an approach, but considering how she was moving earlier it’d be crazy for us to try something like this earlier, as much pain as it is to admit.

*Shine*

Huh? Something seems to be glowing out of the stump of her left arm.

*Whip* *Trip*

“Whoa!?” Suddenly something that looked like wires came out of it and extended out, with Emmie swinging it at us like a new limb and tripping us up and completely interrupting our flow.

*Strike* *Slash* *Bang*

Anyone who didn’t recover from the sudden development in time were quickly dispatched with an attack at full force that seemed to instantly kill anyone hit by them, with their bodies quickly disappearing and further discouraging everyone from even getting close to Emmie right now.

What in the world is that!?
