Chapter 183: Observe Late Lunch

———Karra———

A battlefield is painted with blood, I believe that’s how the saying goes? It’s a saying used whenever a massacre happens. It’s an effective way of saying that a slaughter has happened, many casualties abound and nothing was sacred. You just fight until the other side bleeds completely dry, until nothing left has a pulse.

*Slice*

“That’s the last one.” Wiina said after slicing the last monster in half and walking back to us alongside Lrem. Neither of them looked particularly exhausted as we walked towards them, trying to not think too much about the mountain of corpses behind them. “Quite an easy fight. Too bad I couldn’t use my stronger spells in here since that’d make the fight unreadable to the audience back home.”

“Somehow, I don’t think that’d be what they’ll talk about.” Lrem remarked while she inspected her sword. It’s still in good shape, at least from my point of view. “Still, it’s rather insidious to have such a massive roadblock at what you would’ve thought would be a normal floor.”

“No kidding. Had to wonder who was the one designing this place?” Terry said with a hand on her chin. From the little bit I do know, someone is behind it, but I don’t really have any clue about who it could be, even Wiina’s vague hints are rather hard to make sense of.

She doesn’t seem to be fazed by the slaughter shown. Even I feel kinda… what’s the word… I don’t know, like I’m short-circuiting. Hard to find words to say or think.

“...Anyway, let’s get a move on. Just to be clear, if we find another army like that, us four will be the ones dealing with them.” I said as I took the lead. This floor is really insidious, there aren't even any rewards to be had. “Hm?”

Suddenly a part of the floor opened up near the way down with Edea popping out of it.

“Oh hey. Would you look at that? There’s a secret entrance from one side of the level to another side. How convenient.” They playfully said as they get out of it.

…So that whole fight was entirely optional.

Lrem looks in the direction of Wiina, probably glaring daggers at her from behind the blindfold.

“Let’s keep moving.” Wiina said and everyone agreed to just ignore this and go to the next floor immediately. Let’s keep all that nonsense behind us for now. Let’s stop talking for a bit and keep the pace of the stream nice and concise.

“AHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!” Kenni laughed loudly after holding it in for a while. “That’s fucking priceless! All of that for nothing!”

“Eh. It was still a spectacle. I enjoyed it quite a lot.” Malk dismissively replied. “The camerawork is insane though, almost like we were watching a movie.”

“Hopefully someone will clip the whole thing from all streams. Bet someone is gonna make a saucy video out of it later.” Qyunda said, sounding rather hopeful. I just hope others don’t try to leech off it. At this point I can already imagine all the garbage said about this stream in the future, but let’s not dwell on that. I should at least go get more snacks… Then again, I think they’re serving meals in just a little bit, so I should save some space in my stomach for that. Too much sugary stuff wouldn’t do me good on such an inactive day like this anyhow.

“Hey, Seni, you good?” Jeyst said while poking Seni’s shoulder, she slumped over and looked really tired and sleepy. “I told you to stop eating so much sweet stuff in one setting.”

“Welp, looks like our resident healer is down, guess we can’t indulge as much as we want anymore. Too bad Jass ain’t here.” Kenni jokingly said. Both her and Jass can help relieve stomach pain and such, but it’s not as if they have spells for faster metabolism and so forth. “...So what is today’s food anyway? Your chefs told you beforehand, right?”

“Authentic carbonara pasta and wagyu A5 steak with Japanese rice, also avocado toast.” Odd combinations of food as always. Whoever dictates the meal plan each day is more or less random.

“So nothing spicy this time around.” Kenni said, probably thinking about the last time there was a side made with x-peppers. No idea what his mom was thinking, putting that on the menu. “Also, on the whole healer thing, I got this staff with me just in case.”

“When the heck did you get stuff like that? Never seen a staff like that before.” Jeyst asked, clearly curious as to where she even got it from. “Actually, why did you even bring it here? You’re expecting a fight or something?”

“Just in case the master of the house gets a bit angry and takes it out on me. Need something to patch myself up after the fact.” She answered. I don’t think his mom is the type to just beat someone up unless they really piss her off… Then again, this is Kenni we’re talking about. She pissed off just about everyone she met at some point.

Meanwhile on the screen the spellcaster and the shielder are fighting, going through a much smaller horde of enemies and defeating them in a short span of time. Floor fourty-seven is done. At the rate they are going plus the break, they could easily reach over one hundred floors if the monsters don’t get a big increase in power with each floor moving forward.

“<By the way, if there is one more of those gimmick floors, I’m nuking it.>” Terry suddenly said before everyone moved down to the forty-eight floor. She seems to have quite the hatred for those.

“<Sure…>” Karra said, unsure of what else she could really say.

They’re now on the next floor which only has a few giant monsters roaming about. They could just run from one side to the other easily if they’re looking to conserve energy for the next big floor, but I suppose it wouldn’t make for a very interesting section.

Crylight moved forward and started fighting all of the giants at once. Dodging the many attacks coming her way and retaliating with a stab to the hands and legs. Despite the giant shield, she is extremely agile and able to jump extremely high and do some mid-air movements as well, making it hard for these slow giants that look humanoid but lack any discernible features from being able to get a direct hit in. It’s unclear if she can fly or not, but this is already plenty for her to maneuver around them and wear them down before ramming them with an attack at full force. It’s rather concise and doesn't seem to take much energy out of her. A single spell takes way more mana out of you than fighting for a few minutes, and mana is much harder to recover than stamina, so while it’s not flashy and almost looks like she’s drawing it out, it’s still rather effective and efficient in the grand scheme of things. If this was the only battle she does in one day, then one could argue that she should just hurl all the powerful spells and attacks and be done with it to save time.

While in the middle of watching, the servants come by and place down a tray of food for all of us, having exactly what Useph was describing.

The food looks as delicious as always, let’s dig in as we watch. Not which one should I eat first… I don’t really mind cold pasta, I can leave it as is for now. I haven’t had high-quality beef like this in a long time as well…

I guess I’ll go for the steak and rice first. It’s very fatty and oily, but somehow doesn’t feel extremely heavy either, it’s nice that the rice helps cut its richness and the salt, they seasoned it quite heavily.

Meanwhile on the screen, Karra is running through a bunch of faceless ball-jointed dolls on floor forty-nine that are made of metal, cutting through them and throwing one at the other, or kicking them and shattering them into pieces. Her kicking power is deceptively strong, probably comparable to what she can do with her knife.

“Hey, Seni, wake up already, you need to eat other stuff besides sweets.” Jeyst said while shaking her shoulder. Seni herself is barely awake and her eyes are barely opened up.

“Just let her be. The food won’t be going anywhere.” Sixson said while he ate. “I wonder, can they show just how strong these monsters are? I can glance from what they’re saying, but I would like something more definitive.”

…And then Kenni commented in the stream chat with a rather inflammatory tone.

“<Fei, put that user on timeout for five minutes. Also, the answer to that is a no. It would just ruin the fun if anything. We wouldn’t want to spoil the result now, do we?>” Karra quickly retaliated. Sixson doesn’t look particularly regretful.

“Hey, since I’m doing something for you, can you give me half your portions?” Kenni asked, clearly stirring things up unprompted.

“No.” Sixson quickly replied before he continued eating. “Go eat more candies or something.”

“Tch. Stingy bastard.” She remarked before she continued eating her own portions.

Next floor would be another boss floor, presumably. No doubt that the fight will go on for a while.

When they finally reach floor fifty, what greeted them is another giant golem, but this one is much more human and seemed to be made out of brittle red rocks with orange and yellow glow underneath as if simulating lava, as well as the big crack in its face that seems to act like an eye that glows bright yellow.

The arena itself also has the same color scheme with pits of flame on two sides of the level that constricts the total play area.

It looks like all four of them are going to fight this giant red golem, and Cry ran in first to aggro it while the others stayed in the back for now. She uses a similar tactic she used with the last floor she was active on, but with its much greater strength and agility, she can’t really wear it down on her own without greatly risking herself.

A fist came down and she dodged it. A kick that is way too fast to move out of the way, she blocked it with her shield and brace for impact once she landed back down after getting launched.

Liss then launched a massive and fast torrent of water right towards its chest and pushed it back and almost made it lose its footing.

Terry ordered her monsters to attack and they didn't really do much aside from adding a few more cracks to its surface.

After a few more attacks aimed at its legs and chest, Karra ran in with her knife out and leaped right towards the giant’s head and stabbed her knife right into it then followed up with a strong kick to its ‘eye’, causing it to be pushed back and fall to the ground on its back.

Cry then ran over and slammed her shield right towards its neck and severed it from its body, then the monsters tamed by Terry started tearing into its body as it tried to stand back up on its own. Looks like the core is in its chest.

Karra then jumped up and stomped onto its chest and caused it to burst open, showing a glowing fiery gem inside that she grabbed and immediately shattered.

With that, the floor is cleared and the rewards are given out. One thing that can be observed even just from here is how much stronger the monsters are in this specific dungeon than the local one we had, and ours is said to be one of the tougher ones.

“Mhmm…” This avocado toast has a lot of extra toppings on it, it feels wrong to just call it just that with the fancy toppings giving a lot of extra flavor and crunch.

“Alright, where’s the second serving at? Where did the servants go?” Kenni asked not long after already finishing her portions. I know they allow extras, they always have extras, but surely she can be a bit more patient.

“Just wait a bit, I’m sure one will come to receive more orders soon, go get some snacks in the meantime.” Useph said, ignoring one of the many push-to-summon-servants buttons his parents have around the house. I’m pretty sure everyone here spotted it since the last few times they’ve been here.

“Yeah right, as if I’m waiting for that.” Kenni said before walking towards one of those buttons on the wall.

As for what is happening on-screen, they didn’t get anything impressive from the floor loot, so they just keep going down with no one needing to take a break.
