Chapter 165: Skill Triumph
———Kenni———
<2: 23 pm>
*Punch* *Crash*
“Agh!” I screamed out involuntarily as I got sent flying and crashing through a whole building. One of those tall buildings where you are never sure just what they do outside of boring-ass office jobs.
*Crash*
It feels like my whole body won’t stop shaking the moment I finally crashed into the ground and buried in the rubble.
Okay. Maybe I ought to pick my fights a little better, but it’s still plenty salvageable. In fact, I think it’s plenty in my favor as long as I don’t get brain damage all of a sudden.
*Zip* *Swing* *Evade *Shatter*
“Whoa there, buddy.” I said, avoiding the incoming follow-up in time and thankfully weren’t blown away like the rest of the rubble.
*Dim* *Blast* *Leap*
Before she could follow that up with another attack swinging right at me, I blasted her with my magic before jumping out of the way and getting some distance between us.
*Draw* *Slash* *Slash*
I created multiple sharp ripples of wind towards her location and sliced up the ground and nearby debris in the process.
Watching the smokes clear, I place my right hand on my left thigh in anticipation, as if putting my hand near the holstered gun and ready to draw, not that I actually have one of those on me right-
*Leap* *Block* *Grab* *Blast* *Leap*
I blocked the incoming strike with my left arm and then grabbed her face and let a spell detonated, coming out of my right hand. I quickly jumped out of the way and found another spot to perch. There are a bunch of abandoned buildings I could hide in if I wanted to.
It singed real badly from that, my right hand feeling the burn from the spell casted at point-blank range. I have to move my right hand to my left thigh again to cool it down, mending it.
*Crash*
“Don’t hide from me!” She screamed out while crashing through a nearby wall. Sure got quite a sharp sense.
*Swing* *Roll* *Bang* *Leap*
I rolled on the ground to avoid her large hulking arm aiming straight for me, then blasted her in the face with a dark bullet which staggered her for long enough for me to jump out of the building using the hole she created.
*Crash*
I jumped through the window of the nearby building. Another dull office room.
*Crash* *Dash*
She jumped after me and ran through all the desks and chairs.
*Grab* *Swing* *Bent* *Tackle* *Crash*
“Argh!” Useless chair, can’t even make her flinch. It crumbled the moment it came into contact with her and basically did nothing. Alright, time for another plan.
*Blast* *Crumble*
I blast the floor beneath her before she could reach me and give me a small breathing room.
*Leap*
I jumped out of the building quickly and left her behind in the old one. It still feels a bit weird trying to move around with this long skirt. I really ought to find something better to- Actually, let’s worry about that afterward.
*Blast* *Boom* *CRASH* *CRUMBLE*
From the comfort of this building, I destroy the base of the building she is in and let it collapse right on her. It’s a very tall building so it took a while for the whole thing to collapse. She probably lost her footing and got completely buried in the debris.
I put my hand on my left thigh again and started spreading mana around to recover parts of my body. Even just a little bit of time is very valuable in this fight.
*Flap*
Finally. Alright, time to get out of the building before she does the same thing in retribution.
*BOOM* *CRASH* *CRUMBLE*
Thankfully I got out of the building in time, deep within the debris of the other building, she blasted right through it and hit the building I was in, which would’ve buried me under the rubble as well.
I can barely make out her face from this high up, but I can tell that she is extremely mad at what I just did, basically nullifying the advantage she gave herself earlier in the fight.
*Spark* *Zap* *Boom*
I started raining down lighting from above, some stray bolts hitting her, while the others she managed to barely dodged out of the way. These things are way slower than normal lightning, but that is a trade-off needed for it to be controllable in any way.
*Leap* *Blast* *Crumble* *CRASH*
“Whoopsie, can’t have you doing that again.” I said while wagging my finger after blasting the building she jumped up to, causing her to fall out and back onto the ground floor.
Of course, even a cheap shot like that doesn’t do much to this beast of a woman. Even Emmie would have a hard time with her if she doesn’t fight a little bit dirty… Then again, who knows what kinds of abilities she had up her sleeve at this point. Some would like to put me in the same category as that psycho, but there is actually a noticeable power gap between us.
One thing for damn sure though, she would body shame this poor lady like there’s no tomorrow, not because she’s muscular and a bit wide, but…
*Leap*
She then jumped up so high we met at eye-level, letting me see those stupid frog eyes of her up close and personal, as well as the sheen on her body, weirdly muscular despite being a green frog that also stands on two legs.
*Blast*
Well, too bad for her, she didn’t quite reach where she needed to, so back down to eat the dirt she goes, with an extra spell to the face for free.
…Also, why does she have a lot of fangs? Frogs don’t even have teeth!
*Boom* *Boom* *CRASH* *CRUMBLE*
I blasted the base of multiple buildings and let it all come crashing down on this frog woman and buried her more than six feet under. Let’s see how long it’ll take for her to get out of that one.
*BOOM*
Seven seconds it is, she didn’t even let more than ten seconds pass for some dramatic tension. Just powered through it and probably pissed as all hell. By the time this is done, she wouldn’t have any buildings left to even freeload in…
…Then again, I’m sure the afterlife would be quite accommodating. Death’s embrace is very inclusive, you know?
*ZAP* *BOOM*
I shot down a blast of electricity that completely engulfed the area she was in, flooding it in high voltage and even causing some of the wrecked buildings and other electronics to activate briefly before being overwhelmed by the sheer amount.
“Come on now! That was just a light tickle, wasn’t it!” I shouted down to taunt her once the light clears and she seems shaken up a little by the sudden burst of energy aimed straight at her. “You know! If you have been to this school I was at, maybe you’ll know how to fly one day!”
*BLAST* *Evade*
“Whoa!” Looks like those shouts actually reached her, she just sent out a large beam of flames with the intention of just incinerating me right then and there.
*Leap* *Swing* *Evade*
“Nice try, buckaroo!” I taunted her, already knowing that she’ll try to follow up that attack with a sneak attack from the back to clip my wings again. Unfortunately for her, that kind of trick won’t work the second time.
*Shoot* *Zip*
She tried to shoot me with a small energy blast once I finished my taunt, but I quickly flew away and avoided getting hit, creating a distance between us while she fell back down to the ground. If she wants to kill me, she needs to put in more work than that.
Right now there is basically no way for her to reliably reach me outside of her high jump, which is probably aided by her frog-like body with strong leg muscles. Or the-
*BLAST* *Evade*
-giant beam of energy that could end up wrecking my wings if they were to come in direct contact.
That kind of thing is very fast to fire, but probably takes quite a bit of energy. Unfortunately for her, she needs something a bit faster and stronger and covering more ground if she wants to reach me.
*Leap* *Zap* *Smack* *CRASH*
She tried to jump after me and I simply zapped her and caused her to flinch and unable to react to the incoming smack to the face that sent her falling back down to the ground.
“Come on now! You can do better than that!” I taunted her, knowing full well this will just anger her even more. I just need her to show me everything she got before I actually end this little play of ours. The devastation caused by our fight had been… well, quite noticeable. Even if I don’t live anywhere close to here, I’d rather this place not be too wrecked so it can build back up, you know, less human habitat means less people, meaning less fun.
Not to mention, the longer this fight goes on, the more likely that we’ll stray far from the abandoned city and actually run into civilians.
I can feel a large surge of power, all gathering in a singular spot. Looks like she is going for a big shot this time around, not wanting it to even have a chance of it missing.
Just what I needed at this moment, truly. If it was just shot straight at me, I might not be able to dodge it. The attack would’ve probably been a lot wider and stronger, leaving very little room for error, or perhaps no room at all…
*Flap* *Zip*
As if I was gonna let that attack fully charge up.
*Slash*
I dropped down and flew straight towards her with my right hand opened up, swinging it at her like a claw and hitting her right in the torso before she could process what was going on.
*Draw* *Slash* *Slash* *Slash*
I followed it up with a few wind blades aiming straight towards her as extra annoyance, giving her some small cuts.
*BLAST*
“Whoa…” That was close, that energy blast almost hit my right side, that’d be bad… Thankfully that was just a blind shot.
*BLAST* *Evade*
Another one already? She is getting out of control for real. Good thing I was still paying attention to that.
*BLAST*
Oh come on now, do you even care about conserving energy at this point?
**BLAST**
“Argh!” Did those two simultaneous energy blasts hit anything impor-
*Leap* *Smash* *Crash*
“Ack!” Damn, I didn’t expect her to still have the energy to do a jump like that. Now I need to get off the ground quickly and.
*Dash* *Punch* *Smack* *Kick* *CRASH*
“Ow…” Damn it, why aren’t my wings working? I can’t even feel them right… now… “Welp, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, there won’t be a third time.”
Where in the world am I anyway? I just crashed through another wall… An abandoned store full of cheap stuff, it looks like. Whatever, I just need something I can use.
*Dash* *Throw* *Splash* *Thud*
I grabbed a nearby bottle and threw it at this woman running at me with the intent to kill, the bottle exploding right in her face on impact. I think that was a bottle of soda?
Anyway, that staggered her and caused her to slip and fall disgracefully.
*Slide* *Grab*
“Uh oh.” I said with my ankle getting grabbed suddenly after a small pause while trying to recover my wounds.
*Swing* *Crash*
“Argh!”
*Swing* *Crash*
“Ack!”
*Swing* *Crash*
“Gah!”
*Throw* *Crash*
“Oww…” My head… My ears are ringing… She swung me around and smashed me against the cold ground a few times before throwing me out of this building and into another one…
“Not so smug now, are you?” She said with a smug toothy grin. Her posture seemed a bit unstable as she walked closer.
*Stomp*
“Argh!” She stomped on my right leg, crushing it beneath her foot. It hurts… It hurts real badly.
“Too bad I can’t quite see the flesh under that leg with this long stupid skirt of yours.” She said with a mad looking grin as she put more of her weight into my right leg… She should’ve been able to use more than that, can’t she?
*Dim* *PIERCE* *Thud*
“Heh.” I let out a small chuckle seeing this woman’s shocked expression as she got pierced by a spear of darkness I shot out. It’s not even a strong attack, nor is it even that fast.
She knelt down and clutched her left shoulder in disbelief. No other attack did more than scratch her, even that earlier claw attack which was the strongest thing I pulled out.
“You celebrate a bit too quickly, guess your ability to assess the situation isn’t all too good.” I said before reaching for my left thigh and pulling out the staff I strapped to it before extending it back to its original size. Its green gem shines brightly as I prioritize healing my right leg so I can stand back up. “Then again, you should’ve known you’ve already lost.”
“H-How…” She said while struggling to get up, staring at the healing staff I kept from that dirty job a while back.
“It all comes down to… Nevermind, you’re dead anyway.” I said while raising the staff that I asked to be modified to be much more deadly. Aside from the handle, most parts of it are quite sharp, even the gem embedded on its head looks more like the head of a spear.
It’s just a matter of endurance. She is a bit too eager to try to kill me, and now she can’t even really stand just from taking a simple attack.
If I were to guess, this is the first time she fought someone who pushed her this far. What a shame, really. She doesn’t realize that she is just a normal-sized fish in a teeny-tiny little pond.
“Goodbye.” I said with a grin while I could see her pupils shrinking in fear, and she attempted to stand back up to resist the finisher, but she doesn’t have any gas left in the tank for that.
*Slice* *Thud*
I cut her head clean off her body and the body slumped down to the ground. I might’ve considered sparing her if she wasn’t, you know, one of those one-man army terrorists. Nothing kills the vibe like literally killing.
Now then, let’s quickly heal up my wings and go back home. I don’t have a lot of mana left in the tank, so I want to go back and recuperate as quickly as I can. I’d like to loot the abandoned buildings, but I should be mindful. There is a time and place for everything. I definitely underestimated her full strength, otherwise the fight would’ve ended sooner.
It’s all over now, let’s go back home and get myself a well-deserved nap.
