Chapter 144: Stats Night Check

<8: 57 pm>
“Hey. Can those snakes of yours stop poking me already.” I said, trying to read stuff on my phone and these things are moving around and poking me in the cheek and nearby places for some reason. Why are her snakes still moving around energetically when she seems to be half-asleep and barely conscious?
…Well at least they aren’t biting me, I’ll let it slide. I don’t want to wake her up right now anyway. She’s extremely exhausted from the trip. I hope that damn fuckass goat and that lunatic end up in the lowest level of hell, which considering all the other stuff that turned out to be real, might actually happen… Do monsters even have an afterlife? I don’t think those things even have souls.
Well. Regardless of all that. That guy was a massive pain in the ass. If Teacher Elrick didn’t step in we’re likely dead. That Titayrant thing or whatever random category the school came up with takes a long time to finally kill, and that guy that came after is one hell of a nasty surprise.
Not really sure if that experience will be fondly remembered or not. I think it’s probably… I don’t actually know. I got mixed feelings, but at least the food on the ship was nice. I’m not gonna complain about that and the free internet.
Now let’s look at this thing here… It’s the site they talked about. Every class should have their own stats up at this point. Can’t imagine a lot of them having killed even one of those giant monsters.
…What the hell!? That Perfect Class killed four!? I don’t really know if the creatures there have any similarities, but I’m pretty sure from the explanation that these things are roughly… Wait, what’s this section? It actually compares the danger level of each of those giant monsters? How the hell do they even get accurate readings of that? So many ridiculous things they set up on this page. They even have some bullet points about notable events each class goes through on that day. They really want us to know what each classroom did.
Okay, so from this ranking here, the giant monsters those guys fought are actually stronger than ours, because of course that’s the case. Let’s see here… there’s only two other classes that even killed one, and yet that class killed four.
Let’s check their bullet points and see what other crazy shit they also did.
Hmm… ‘Fought a warlord to a standstill, needing the intervention of the guide to keep the fight from being prolonged.’ A warlord? One of those nutjobs that was in the news and no one really has a good look at since you’d usually just die if you even get close? One of those guys?
Let’s look at other points… ‘Emmie Pennela killed two local Titayrants by herself.’ What? It took most of our class to kill one that the site said is weaker, is this for real? ‘Malk Korrt and Qyunda Evandole killed a local Titayrant.’ Uh huh… ‘Karra Lein and Jennla Reends killed a local Titayrant.’
So the shit we did that takes more than ten people they can just do with two or even just a single person. Ain’t that just peachy. At this point I don’t even know what to expect… Well, them getting better stats on the board than us IS expected, just not by this much with such a large gap. I’m glad I’m not one of those guys that are extra jealous of the Perfect Class. I’d imagine some of them are malding right now at the results.
I definitely let those jealousy show sometimes, but I never really beef with them. In fact, I think I get along with them just fine, despite all the grievances I had.
…Wasn’t there an incident involving a gang of guys ambushing Karra? I think they were students in the school before it was all completely redesigned.
I don’t think they were expelled for that, heck, that whole incident happened before then, and I’m pretty sure a rather small incident like that could be looked over, especially since it doesn’t happen in their surveillance.
I’m just glad that I didn’t get involved in all of that nonsense, and inside the school they are pretty good at keeping everything in order.
Alright, let’s go back to looking at the stats… Wow, there is actually a big gap between our monster kill count and the others… aside from the Perfect Class. They got a heck ton of a lot more. When it comes to all battle-related stats they are completely off the roof.
…Okay, I’m starting to get a bit bored looking at all of this. Basically in terms of feats our class is in second place, the Perfect Class is in first. Kinda the first it feels like, our classroom is full of muscleheads, so our stats compared to the others are kinda low in the academic apartment. Aside from Histon, our test scores are painfully average compared to the other classrooms. Who knows? Maybe all these physical feats will translate better into future success?
Anyway, back to reality and the whole snake hair thing. If it weren’t for the fact that it is attached to this meek girl I’d probably be sweating bullets right now. Thankfully it looks like these things act more like the person it is attached to and is quite passive and friendly. Had to wonder if they even have consciousness of their own or more akin to her sleepwalking.
Speaking of Glery, is she already fully asleep? The snakes are slowing down in their movement a bit, and some have their eyes shut. I never saw her sleeping often, since she rarely comes by for a sleepover, but this tracks with the last few times we did do that.
…I’m actually craving a snake right now, but I don’t want to get out of bed and possibly wake her up. The heck should I do? I’m not exactly good at stealth and keeping a low profile.
I need to be very careful… She isn’t clinging to me… I should be able to… not mess things up!

<9: 09 pm>
“<So… Was it you who snitched?>” Lrem suddenly asked. What is this about now?
“What could you mean by that?” I asked with a raised eyebrow. Why are we talking about snitching now? She was complaining about having to give her boss a ride home, what are we even talking about… Oh. “If you mean the whole ‘How did Wiina know about the meeting?’ then that’s just something she learned from another person. I have no part in that.”
“<I see…>” She muttered, looking thoughtful. “<Well. It doesn’t matter that much if you were the one who told her about the meeting or not. I never think about actually going there, so I wouldn’t have any chance to blame you anyway.>”
“So why are we even talking about this?” I asked, seeing that this conversation had been going around for a while.
“<...It’s just that it feels like our stories have been crossing for a while, if that’s the right way to describe it.>” She said while scratching her head.
“...I guess that’s a fair thing to say.” That’s basically all I can really say. I mean we are friends, even if we are separated by a screen. It’d be weird if the events both of us went through didn’t overlap along the way. “Honestly though, it looks like you went through a lot more than what you’ve bargained for. Wiina had told me before, how you seem to have a knack for getting into trouble just because you were in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
“<Well that’s one way to describe me.>” She said with a slightly irritated tone. She definitely doesn’t like being reminded of that. “<I don’t think I’ve even done anything wrong in my entire life, and yet trouble keeps occurring.>”
“Definitely isn’t very lucky. I would say that at least you seem to be living without constantly fearing for your life like many are at this moment.” There are still a lot of conflicts happening around the world. The warlord situation definitely reminded me of that. There are some people who would never think about stopping themselves from hurting others, and there are people living in fear of those kinds of people.
“<I guess my life is far from the worst. I still think I got a lot of undeserved things happening despite doing the right thing…>” She said with a hint of dissatisfaction. “<But I’d definitely look like a massive ungrateful bitch if I keep complaining about it at every turn.>”
“Hey, as long as not many people out there can hear you say those things, I’m sure your public image will remain good.” Not that I really know the full story of her social life. Can’t imagine it being bad. She is objectively a pretty lady, and also quite strong, and has a record of helping with catching criminals and other good deeds. It’d be crazy if she is seen as some sort of scary villain. I mean, it’s not as if she was seen brutally… “By the way. I just remembered something I wanted to ask. That giant monster corpse you’ve shown us before, how tough was it, really?”
“<Huh? Why is that the thing you’re so curious about?>” She replied while sounding rather puzzled. “<It was mainly just so durable that it took more than a couple good hits to bring it down. It wasn’t actually that hard.>”
“I see…” Now that I think about it, I never really ascertain how strong she has grown. If she can take down a Titayrant of that specific Fantarban Realm, she should be close to my level at minimum. Why did I never ask Wiina to do a stat check on her? I can’t really assess it myself without confronting her face-to-face.
“<Why even ask? Were you planning on fighting one of those?>” She asked, oblivious to the school trip and all the dangers that came with it, including monsters on par with the giant stubby creature she killed. “<It’s mainly a chore more than anything else. Wouldn’t recommend unless someone is commissioning you to kill one.>”
“Nothing like that. It just looks like it would be nearly impossible to kill unless you’re really strong and skilled. You have said something about being the strongest in your neighborhood, how big is the gap between you and the rest?” Now I’m really curious as to how strong she is. Hmm…
“<I don’t actually know. I don’t really mingle with the others in the guild. Just a waste of time, really. Just from a glance it’s pretty obvious that the others would just slow me down. I’d rather move at my own healthy pace than being dragged down to their level. It’s more beneficial for both sides, I think.>” She said confidently. If the gap is that big, then it’d be… Actually, no. I really don’t have a good reference point outside of that giant monster that is no doubt classified as a Titayrant. I do think that alone is good enough. She is also a pretty face and someone I’m already well-aquainted with.
Now the catch here is what type of people does she really gel with? She seems to be very confident in herself, takes pride in her looks, doesn't like to be looked down on, and is quite quippy, especially to those who annoyed her. I can’t imagine influencers not annoying her to some degree by default, even if they aren’t doing it intentionally.
“Say. Lrem, you heard of a plan I announced yesterday, right?” I want to get straight to the point, so let’s see if she needs to catch up on that. I don’t really know if she would pick up on the implications right away, and if she might be against it.
“<The collab thing? Why? You need some advice on who to pick up?>” …That’s quite a nice excuse, let’s go for that then. I don’t want to be too straightforward. If she is showing resistance to even that, then it’s best to not bring her along.
“Yeah. Here, I’ll post a list and tell me what you think? With most of them I’ve only had a small talk with them all.” I said while giving her the screenshots. I am biased towards the people listed, and I’m certain it’s for a pretty good reason. I don’t want those annoying degenerate on my stream, and some of these guys definitely fit that mark already.
“<Hmm… Some troublemakers in the mix. Wouldn’t want that…>” She muttered while looking around. “<If it is your first time collabing with another influencer, then… Wait, why am I even the one giving you advice? I have zero experience with this!>”
“Just humor me with at least some names, can’t you? Surely you’ve heard of some of them.” I want to see who she might be fine with. “Come on, can’t even pick a name or two?”
“<Alright, fine! Here, how about these two girls? I heard having the opposite sex on stream is bad PR ain’t it? So go with this first.>” I mean I was in a stream with my male friends sometimes and it was fine. Then again this is more for me than it is for her. If this is what she’s comfortable with, then why not? I can collaborate with the others at a later date.
“Okay then. Noted. Say, Lrem, remember to come as well when we are starting the dungeon stream collab.” I finally dropped the bombshell.
“<...Excuse me?>” Heh, that flabbergasted face of hers is pretty good.
