Chapter 433: Escaping The World
Outside the Stark residence that night...
Ethan and Isabella stood by the entrance, facing each other with their hands wrapped around one another as they stared into each other’s eyes.
"Alright, babe. You have to go now." Ethan said, smiling. "The agent should have reached house morgenstein already"
Bella had a soft smile on her face as well. She leaned closer and they both shared a brief passionate kiss.
When they separated, Ethan turned his attention toward his father and gave him a nod.
Nathan then walked closer to Bella, stopped and said, "Just another reminder, the talisman on your arm is maintaining a continuous flow of mana between us. Whatever you do, don’t interfere with that flow or disrupt your mana in a way that destabilizes the channel. If you do, the talisman’s link will be severed."
"Yes, I understand." Ethan said while staring at the little piece of paper attached to his hand.
It had purple glowing runes and symbols on it, which signified that it was currently in progress.
The talismans on Ethan and Nathan’s arms were specifically to facilitate the transfer of mana between them. In practice, they functioned like anchors, although they weren’t like the usual totem-looking types that powered the spell directly.
Instead, the talismans established a continuous channel between the two of them, allowing Ethan’s mana to flow directly toward Nathan while he used it to sustain his spells and other forms of magic.
It was the only way that would guarantee that Nathan would have more mana available to maintain his placement in the Astral sea.
Abaddon inclined his head respectfully toward his Matron.
And with that, Nathan then placed a hand on Isabella’s shoulder as their figures seemed to have warped and vanished from the manor, into entering the Astral Realm.
The decision to enter the sea of collective consciousness was made to ensure that every possibility had been accounted for.
If someone attempted to observe their movements, detect their presence, or use any means of tracking them to discover where Isabella had gone, they would find absolutely nothing.
In essence, this was a much better option; Removing her from the physical world was more reliable than cloaking spells.
Ethan then turned toward Abaddon and gave a nod.
With that, the angel’s enormous wings spread from his back before he launched himself into the sky.
From this point onward, Abaddon’s role was to observe the Morgenstein Estate. He was to monitor their reactions and movements once the news reached them, allowing Ethan to know exactly how Beatrice and the others responded.
Ethan then turned around and headed back into the manor.
His friends were in the living room at this time; the Arcorys siblings, along with Bettie who sat beside Hayley.
Apparently, after leaving her father’s house earlier, she had gone straight to Arcorys residence.
Aliyah was here as well.
Wilson, however, sat alone in one corner of the room with a gloomy expression.
The loss of his sister still weighed heavily on him, and as a vampire, the emotions surrounding such a loss were more intense.
Ethan walked into the room and looked at them all. "She’s gone...now we wait."
Wilson slowly raised his eyes toward him. "Ethan, there’s one request i’ll be making; If this all works out, you will allow me to take Beatrice’s life."
Ethan turned to him, giving a nod after, "You can have at her."
——
Back at House Morgenstein...
Olaf slowly opened his eyes.
He was lying on a bed, with several parts of his body wrapped in bandages, including his head and torso.
Beatrice was standing beside the bed, staring down at him with a scowl on her face. "If I didn’t need to verify the things you told me this evening, I would’ve had my servants throw your body out of my house and left you to see if you could heal yourself."
Olaf looked at her calmly. "I would think that killing the lady would bring you and your people some satisfaction... did you not tell me her death was part of your purpose?"
Beatrice’s expression hardened. "What you’ve done is deny me a revenge that was rightfully mine."
She wanted to see to Isabella’s death personally, given the confirmed fact that it was the mistress who abducted her father that night.
It hurt that she had lost that chance.
"Now tell me. How are you sure that the woman you killed was Isabella?" Beatrice asked.
"I am certain of my targets," Olaf replied. "Whether you believe that or not is up to you."
He then turned his head slightly. "My weapon. Where is it?"
Beatrice then posed another question. "Was that the weapon you used to kill her?"
"Yes. It’s what I would use to kill them all." He replied
"You will go no further," Beatrice said firmly. "You’ve done enough."
She sighed, then turned away from him and began walking toward the exit.
However, she had temporarily stopped at the doorpost to add this, "You know why the Blessed are gathered here. Since you’ve decided to involve yourself in all of this, you should be prepared to let us examine your mind as well."
"Your information needs to be confirmed."
Olaf said nothing but stare at her as she continued on her way out.
-
Beatrice returned to the room where the other Blessed were at.
A few sat in different corners and some remained standing.
They were all waiting for Beatrice and moment she stepped inside, every pair of eyes turned toward her, each of them waiting for an answer.
Beatrice looked around at them with a strange expression. "What?" she asked. "Why are you all staring at me like that?"
One of the men immediately spoke. "Did he kill the evil goddess?"
Instead of giving an answer, Beatrice turned her gaze toward the female Blessed who was holding the lance Olaf had brought back with him.
"Can you tell whether that weapon carries divinity?" She asked.
The woman examined the lance for a moment before shaking her head. "No, It’s an ordinary weapon."
