I Married the President

Chapter 638: Overestimated Eldest Miss Linden’s Taste

Ethan Kingsley’s cold gaze narrowed, and he didn’t answer right away.

Corinne Linden pressed on. "You can’t just keep her around forever. At the very least, I don’t want you to."

Ethan Kingsley slowly turned to look down at her face, his expression unreadable. "I’ve told you before," he said flatly. "Stay away from her."

Corinne Linden flared up, standing to meet his gaze. "No woman would tolerate her fiancé keeping another woman on the side—even if she’s a fool! And yet you gave your best house to her!"

"The best house?" Ethan Kingsley sneered. "It seems I overestimated your taste, Eldest Miss Linden."

"The one I liked at first sight is the one I consider the best. What will people think when you give a house that huge to her?"

"I don’t care what other people think. If you want, I can buy you an island, build you a castle. But that house will never be yours. It’s what I owe her."

Corinne Linden’s lips parted, but for a moment, she was utterly speechless.

A brief silence fell between them.

Corinne Linden took a deep breath before finally speaking. "It’s just a marriage the older generation forced on you. I don’t think you owe her anything. In any case, I’ll never be able to let this go. And that’s that."

With that, Corinne Linden turned and walked away.

She hoped he would chase after her and coax her to come back, like a proper boyfriend should.

However, he didn’t move an inch.

Hearing the door close, Ethan Kingsley calmly walked to the wardrobe, took out his clothes, and got dressed.

Once dressed, he was ready to head to the office.

Suddenly, he remembered something. He pulled out his phone and dialed the landline for The Golden Brocade Palace. He started walking out as the call connected, speaking into the phone, "Put Little Cutie on."

"Brother Kingsley, it’s me! It’s me!" So, she had been waiting by the phone.

A handsome smile tugged at the corners of Ethan Kingsley’s lips. "Why were you looking for Sinclair?"

"Brother Kingsley killed Flora! I have to tell Sinclair."

"Little Cutie, the flowers aren’t dead. They’ll grow back in a couple of days."

Ivy Tanner muttered something under her breath that Ethan Kingsley couldn’t quite make out, but he could tell she didn’t believe him.

Ethan Kingsley softened his tone. "Your Sinclair has gone on a long trip. It’ll be a while before she’s back."

"Where did Sinclair go?" Ivy Tanner asked immediately.

Ethan Kingsley was silent for a moment before asking, "If Sinclair disappeared, would you be very sad?"

Ivy Tanner nodded. "Uh-huh. Sinclair is the best Sinclair in the whole world. If she disappeared, I would be sad... sad for a very long time."

’This girl,’ he thought. ’She only speaks this lucidly when Claire Sinclair’s name comes up.’

"How about this? When I get off work this afternoon, I’ll take you to buy flower seeds."

"Umm..." Ivy was reluctant. ’But a fool doesn’t have the right to refuse,’ she thought, deciding to take the offer. "Okay then! I’ll wait for Brother Kingsley to get off work. You can’t lie to me, okay?"

"Don’t worry, I won’t," Ethan Kingsley said with a small laugh. "I have to go now, I’m heading to work. Be a good girl at home, Little Cutie, and wait for me."

After hanging up, Ethan Kingsley’s mood miraculously brightened, the irritation from his argument with his girlfriend completely gone.

「The Golden Brocade Palace.」

Ivy Tanner, however, felt no anticipation at all. Instead, her mood soured.

’The way Ethan Kingsley just spoke to me... something must have happened to Claire Sinclair. Otherwise, he never would have asked how I’d feel if she disappeared. And then he just dropped the subject right after asking.’
