Chapter 531: If Tomorrow Is the End of the World
Ivy Tanner was locked in a dim bedroom. She lay silently on the cold bed as her body grew hotter and hotter, the searing heat jolting her awake.
She tried to get up, but her body was too weak. After a long struggle, she finally rolled off the bed and started crawling toward the door.
After a great effort, she made it to the door. To her relief, it wasn’t locked. She managed to crawl out and pull herself up, using the wall for support.
She stumbled past a few rooms and was about to reach the top of the stairs when her palm brushed against a partially open door. Losing her balance, she crashed inside.
She immediately looked up into the room. ’Thank God, no one’s here!’
She quickly turned around, shut the door, and locked it from the inside.
But before she could even feel relieved, the agonizing heat flared up again, threatening to drag her into The Inferno.
It was obvious now. That woman must have put something in her juice, and it was almost certainly *that* kind of drug.
’No, this is unbearable. I need to take a cold shower!’
’Where’s the bathroom?’
Ivy Tanner’s mind was growing hazy, her vision blurring. She stumbled a few steps forward until her knee suddenly hit the foot of the bed, and she lost her balance, collapsing onto the mattress.
’It’s agonizing... I can’t take this anymore... Where’s the air conditioner?’
’I just want to die...’
A moment later, the bathroom door opened.
Ethan Kingsley walked out, his face dark. He was dripping wet, wearing only a bathrobe. Beads of moisture clung to his forehead, and it was impossible to tell if it was sweat or water from his shower.
He caught sight of a woman lying on the bed out of the corner of his eye. His chest tightened, and he strode over.
She was lying facedown, so he couldn’t see her features, but he could tell something was wrong.
He recalled being downstairs earlier. The only thing he’d had to drink was the red wine Corinne Linden had brought him. A smirk touched his lips as he figured it out. "Corinne Linden," he said, "you’ve been planning this for a long time, haven’t you?"
He paused before adding, "Should I turn off the lights?"
In this regard, he never let a woman take the lead. He switched off the lights on his own and walked to the foot of the bed.
Ivy Tanner desperately wanted to speak, but at that moment, she had no control over her own body.
’Forget it. I don’t care about anything anymore.’
’If tomorrow is the end of the world, then let me die in his arms. I would rather die this way.’
...
「Meanwhile.」
Outside Room 206, Melody Tanner held her phone to her ear, completely absorbed in her conversation.
She noticed the door was ajar and stepped inside, looking for a quiet place to enjoy the night breeze. The balcony seemed like the perfect spot.
The call lasted five or six minutes before it finally ended.
Melody Tanner turned to go back into the room when the door opened again. A hulking, obese man, nearly six feet tall, staggered in from the outside.
The obese man’s face was flushed, his eyes were strange, and his body was covered in sweat.
Melody Tanner jumped in fright. She patted her chest and said irritably, "You scared the hell out of me!"
As soon as she spoke, she realized the man’s eyes were fixed on her with a bizarre stare. A chill ran down her spine, and she quickly tried to leave.
As she tried to pass the fat man, he suddenly grabbed her arm. His demented voice echoed in her ear, "Little baby, where are you going? You can’t leave. You have to play a game with me."
Melody Tanner’s face went pale with terror. She shoved him away in a panic and shouted, "You damn fatty, what do you think you’re doing? Let me go, you hear me!"
"No, you can’t. Daddy said you’re my toy, hehe... I want to play a game with you."
It wasn’t until the fat man pulled a small knife from his pocket that the reality of the situation hit Melody Tanner. Her eyes widened in horror, her mind went blank and numb. "Stay back... Don’t you come near me..."
"Heeheehee... Little baby, won’t you play a game with me?"
Outside the door, two bodyguards stood flanking it, one on the left and one on the right. They could hear the woman’s cries for help coming from inside, but neither of them moved a muscle.
