Chapter 773: Chapter 772: Experiencer
Dr. Tang Zheng’s facial reconstruction surgery, led by Yan Feifan, began promptly at nine o’clock on Friday morning.
The surgery took place in Operating Room 1 on the second floor of the Little Red House.
There were two surgical assistants, Wang Chuan and Zhu Jian, and the anesthesiologist was Luo Zhen, a senior anesthesiologist from the plastic surgery center.
The scrub nurse was Meng Yao.
As for the circulating nurse, because the patient had filed a complaint against Ye Lin, Yan Feifan had to temporarily borrow one from Wang Chuan’s surgical team.
Several young doctors, including Berry, Lin Qian, and Qi Xiuping, were in the operating room for close-up observation.
Once the surgery started, Yan Feifan used his scalpel with bold, decisive strokes. He completely removed the muscle tissue on the left side of Tang Zheng’s face that had been corroded by concentrated acid—tissue that was either mutilated, twisted, or matted together.
Throughout this process, Yan Feifan carefully preserved the neural and vascular networks, which were already severely damaged and fragmented.
After completing the debridement, Yan Feifan’s next task was transplanting the muscle bundles.
This part of the work was mainly divided into two parts.
The first part was harvesting the muscles for the transplant, which was primarily Wang Chuan’s responsibility.
Wang Chuan had received a task list from Yan Feifan the previous night.
It specified in exceptional detail the time, the exact muscles on Tang Zheng’s body, and the specifications and quantity of the muscle bundles he was to harvest.
The muscle bundles Wang Chuan was to harvest came from all over Tang Zheng’s body, but the main collection sites were concentrated in the muscles of his waist, abdomen, chest, arms, and calves.
The second part, the transplantation and suturing of the muscle bundles, was naturally Yan Feifan’s responsibility.
Zhu Jian was responsible for assisting.
To put it simply, the entire surgical process today was like building a brick wall.
Wang Chuan was the laborer, responsible for unloading and passing the bricks, while Yan Feifan, as the master craftsman, laid the wall.
Except in this case, they were using muscle bundles harvested from all over the body to reconstruct the missing muscle on Tang Zheng’s face, and the required technique was simply far more precise and intricate.
The entire time, Yan Feifan worked under a surgical microscope, splicing and suturing one muscle bundle after another.
The surgery’s progress appeared to be agonizingly slow…
「At ten in the morning, the signing ceremony for the Phoenix Medical Park project was held on schedule in the main hall of the Binhai municipal government annex.」
The entire signing ceremony was formal yet brief.
After the mayor and the executive vice-mayor each gave a speech of a minute or two, the collective signing ceremony began.
Song Yi, as the legal representative for the Extraordinary Medical Technology Company, was guided by an attendant to her seat at the far end of a long table draped in red velvet.
Then, another attendant placed a contract, prepared in duplicate, in front of Song Yi.
She opened the contract and quickly checked it.
‘Company name, correct!’
‘Project name, “Extraordinary Medical Technology Company Headquarters and R&D Building,” also correct.’
‘Investment capital: 280 million!’
Song Yi then flipped to the signature and seal section of the agreement.
She saw that in the section for the government’s signature and seal, a name was already signed, but the official seal had not yet been stamped.
Song Yi glanced to her left, where a row of more than a dozen people were briskly signing their documents.
In front of the long table, television cameramen were filming, and government staff were taking photographs.
Yu Chuanbai, who had come with Song Yi, was also holding up his phone, snapping one picture of her after another.
Song Yi took a deep breath, picked up the fountain pen the government had provided on the table in front of her, and removed the cap.
With a bit of force, she signed her name on both copies of the agreement.
Afterwards, Song Yi took out the company’s official seal and stamped both agreements.
She picked up the agreement, blew on the fresh stamp, and looked at her signature.
Song Yi wasn’t entirely satisfied.
After establishing the company, she had specially commissioned an artist to design the signature, and she had practiced it for a long time herself.
‘But today, the signature didn’t turn out as well as I’d hoped…’
The signed agreements were collected by the attendants and handed over to a designated government official to be stamped.
Then, the head of the municipal government, Mr. Sun, would personally hand back one of the stamped copies of the agreement.
During this exchange, besides shaking hands, Mr. Sun would naturally offer a few cordial words…
Song Yi, who was last in line, watched the business owner before her take his agreement, bow slightly, and walk away. She then hurried forward, reaching Mr. Sun in a few quick steps.
“Mr. Sun, hello!”
Mr. Sun took the agreement from a staff member beside him and gave Song Yi a small smile.
“Song Yi, I know your brother, Song Yan, as well.”
“An exceptionally outstanding individual. He’s made great contributions to our nation’s telecommunications industry and to Binhai’s economy.”
Mr. Sun then abruptly changed the subject, asking, “Dr. Yan Feifan didn’t come?”
Song Yi was slightly taken aback but quickly replied, “Mr. Sun, Mr. Yan has an important surgery today.”
Mr. Sun said, “Oh,” softly. “Song Yi, I’ve had a look at your product and project plans.”
“The Smart IV Controller and the Sleep Promotion Device… both are aimed at the needs of the general public, medical products that solve real, practical problems.”
“Very good, very good!”
Looking excited, Song Yi said, “Mr. Sun, thank you for your encouragement and recognition!”
“As a newly established medical technology company, the only way for us to win over the market, to survive and grow, is by continuously releasing reliable, effective, and practical products.”
Mr. Sun nodded in approval and asked, “Song Yi, your Sleep Promotion Device is scheduled for launch next spring.”
“Do you have any units available now?”
Mr. Sun added, “My own sleep problems are quite severe; I need to take medication just to get a good night’s rest.”
“Since this is the creation of a brilliant doctor like Mr. Yan, I’m very much looking forward to it.”
Song Yi answered honestly, “Mr. Sun, we have already developed several trial models of the Sleep Promotion Device.”
“However, the key is that the user needs to undergo a brainwave test at a hospital. We have to identify a specific brainwave frequency to stimulate in order to produce the hypnotic effect.”
Mr. Sun reacted quickly, grasping the key point. “So everyone’s hypnotic brainwave frequency is different?”
“Yes, it’s different for everyone. And not everyone even has this frequency!”
Song Yi explained further, “According to Mr. Yan’s research, there’s only a one-quarter to one-third chance of finding this specific stimulation frequency in any given person.”
Mr. Sun let out an “Oh,” and asked, “Is testing for this brainwave frequency a lot of trouble?”
Song Yi shook her head and explained, “Not at all. Mr. Yan said the test takes as little as one minute, and no more than ten.”
Mr. Sun handed her the agreement and said with a light chuckle, “If it’s convenient and permitted, I would like to be a trial user for your Sleep Promotion Device.”
“Mr. Sun, it would be our honor!”
Song Yi accepted the agreement and shook Mr. Sun’s hand again.
After she received the agreement, the final item on the agenda was a group photo. And with that, the project signing ceremony came to a successful conclusion.
It was just past eleven o’clock, and the government had prepared a working lunch for them in the cafeteria.
However, apart from a few business owners who stayed behind to continue discussions with officials, most of the guests declined the working lunch and began to depart.
Carrying the fountain pen she’d used to sign as a souvenir, Song Yi left the municipal building with Yu Chuanbai; Yu Youlian, the chairman of Baining Group from Jingcheng; Yu Youhai; and Liu Jin, Hou Jianfeng, and others from Bin University Affiliated Hospital.
Their party of more than ten people took three cars and finally arrived at Luo’s Private Kitchen, ready to discuss potential collaborations over lunch…
