Chapter 142: Love is Truly Blind.
"No one should know about this. I mean, no one apart from the people in this room, and those who helped stop Bahamut. Not even the elders, or his girlfriends. Maybe they can know, but I don’t advise it," Chief Elder Sekhem said in a serious tone.
Bahamut just nodded. Elder Silvia, on the other hand, answered and nodded. Then they turned around to leave, but the chief elder stopped them.
"Before I forget, your rewards for the mission will be sent to you today. And I suggest you get a weapon. You can’t always be fighting with your hands or claws, especially now that you have to keep some things... secret. I suggest you go with someone heavy but sharp, a greatsword or a huge sword type like a buster sword. It’s your own choice, though. I’m just suggesting," Chief Elder Sekhem said in an amused tone.
Bahamut looked at him with wide eyes, not understanding just what was happening. It wasn’t like he couldn’t understand his words, but he couldn’t understand why he wasn’t being punished as he was supposed to. It was as if they were blatantly favoring him.
His eyes moved to the darkwood, wondering just what was behind it. He had noticed the Chief Elder looking there once in a while. Maybe something was behind that door. Something that was influencing his judgement.
Bahamut and Elder Silvia left the room, leaving the Chief Elder inside.
After the door closed and everyone left the vicinity, Sekhem headed toward the darkwood door. He opened it and entered, appearing inside a beautiful hall, reminiscent of a pharaoh’s palace.
Sekhem stopped when he reached a small pool and sat down on the tiled floor.
"What’s this about, brother? Why do you keep on giving the boy chances?" Sekhem asked.
A voice sounded from inside the deep pool, clear and deep, despite coming from the water.
"Do you believe in reincarnation and transmigration?" the voice asked.
"They are just concepts to some and are true to some."
"What do you think?"
"I don’t know."
"Hmm... okay. As for the boy, let’s say... I owe him a lot. I wouldn’t have survived the Dunes if it weren’t for someone related to him. You noticed who he is from his name and his current outburst, right? That deep, bestial aura."
"His name is so simple to give him away, but we all failed to notice it. But I still don’t understand why you have to keep him here. He should be..."
"Special training? No. He needs to learn. He has been orphaned even before he came into being. Plus, he needs companions. Special training will mean training alone, and that isn’t helpful at all, especially for someone like him."
"What is he? I have an idea but..."
"He is the mythical Chimera, but he is still a cub. What do you think would happen to such a confusing and radical being if left alone?"
"Chaos..."
"Exactly. Which is also why he shouldn’t be left alone. He cannot be alone either. He made sure of that, and it’s already happening with the Esteria and Kurama girls... and the cow beast-kin."
"I can feel chaos brewing..."
"Oh, don’t be worried, because it’s not here yet. But once it arrives, even some elders won’t be spared."
"Did you have a vision?"
"No. I haven’t had one in ten years. There’s someone of a higher visionary power than me in the sect. But... I see everything, and I saw it. What led him to come to the sect, who caused it, I saw it all. And when that happens, you will have to intervene."
"What of you? What would you do?"
"Hmm... let’s see... I will just be a spectator as always. I gotta keep the cool, elusive vibe, you know?"
"Sometimes I wonder why you are the eldest..."
"Because I am cool."
"We are doomed."
"Stop being such a killjoy and join me here. Eating underwater is great!"
"Weirdo!"
...
Bahamut followed Elder Silvia to her residence, his face hidden behind his messy hair and his head hanging low. There was a loud silence between them, and none of them was willing to do anything about it.
Bahamut was thinking. His mind drifted as he absentmindedly opened his system.

Before he could check, something bumped into him, followed by sobs. He felt his clothes get wet rapidly as the person hugged him tightly.
"You heard, huh?" Bahamut just muttered with an emotionless tone.
"I don’t care..." Exildra said amidst tears. "They deserved it! Don’t feel bad about it."
"I ate them..."
"If it makes you feel, then eat me too!"
"What the hell are you saying?!" Bahamut held Exildra angrily, but she just smiled.
"That way, I will be with you... inside."
"Are you crazy?!"
"I am crazy for you. And I am not the only one."
"Exi..."
"I heard, and I know what happened. And they deserved it. They poisoned Lily for no reason! And they are all disciples under Elder Derek!"
"What?!"
"Exactly that. Lily is the only female disciple under Elder Derek. She is a victim, and it is just a matter of time before..."
"Exildra. I don’t understand you. You are mixing up stuff."
"Accept Lily’s love."
"What nonsense are you spouting? Did someone hit you somewhere?"
"No."
"Then why?"
"Because I love you and I do things in your best interest."
"Lily isn’t my interest."
"Are you sure?"
"I am."
"Can you take an oath for that?"
"What do you mean?"
"Love is blind, and I love it that way, but that doesn’t mean that I am blind. I’ve noticed how you look at Lily. It isn’t out of hate, and it’s not neutral either. She interests you, but you think you are bound to me."
"Exi..."
"Bahamut, my love. I don’t hate you, and I am not leaving you. I will be with you forever, but I won’t be the only one you will be with. I know Lily interests you. You are curious about her."
"I..."
"Make her yours. Polygamy is common, so don’t worry. I won’t be the reason you regret losing something... Because, if Lily dies... You will not be happy."
"How do you know?"
"I saw it."
Bahamut stared at Exildra with wide eyes full of confusion and surprise. He couldn’t understand her, but deep down, he knew she was right. He had the urge to have multiple women. He had lived a hundred lives and still held every single trait of the character he was in those lives. Even with the system’s help to lock down his memories, some core aspects couldn’t be sealed.
"Sigh..." Bahamut sighed and sat down on the floor. Exildra sat beside him, but didn’t speak. She knew he was thinking...
Her eyes flickered to the others. Elder Silvia had left, leaving Sel, Apollonia, Rakia, and Ren, including her.
They were hopeful...
