Chapter 439 - 429: Thunder Falls!
"So this is the vanguard of the Southwest Falcon? Heh—!" Qin Fan shook his head with a cold sneer, watching Qiao Xiyuan scramble pathetically toward him.
"Master Qin, my ignorant son has committed a heinous crime! I beg you to show mercy and spare his life!" the elderly patriarch pleaded, no longer caring about Qin Fan’s disdainful sneer. His quivering voice betrayed his age and terror.
"Grandfather, what are you doing! Get up! You’re the head of the Qiao Family! How can you kneel to this bastard! He’s asking for death by barging into our home! Let’s call in the army and wipe him out! Wipe him out!"
Suddenly, an immature voice erupted discordantly. Qin Fan turned his head at the sound. A boy who looked to be thirteen or fourteen was clenching his fists, grinding his teeth, and glaring fiercely at him.
"Call in the army to wipe me out? Is the army yours to command?" Qin Fan taunted mockingly.
"You bastard! You’re going to die a miserable, miserable death! If you don’t get on your knees and kowtow to us right now, it won’t just be you—your family will suffer, too! In the Demon Capital, our Qiao Family is king!" The naive boy, seemingly oblivious to the perilous situation his family faced, roared at Qin Fan with reckless fury.
"It’s over! It’s over! It’s over!" Upon hearing those words, the old patriarch went rigid, his eyes staring blankly as he muttered. The next second, a surge in his blood pressure caused him to collapse to the ground in a dead faint.
"Grandfather!"
"Dad!"
"Grandpa!"
As the old patriarch fell, the entire Qiao Family cried out in alarm, reflexively rushing to his side.
Qin Fan remained unmoved by the commotion, his gaze cool. He looked over at Qiao Xiyuan. "Who put the bounty on me?"
"The Yamamoto Group! It was the Yamamoto Group!" With a pitiful, pleading look in his eyes, the terrified and dazed Qiao Xiyuan blurted it out without a second thought.
"The Yamamoto Group? Hmm. Noted."
Qin Fan nodded indifferently, withdrew his gaze, then turned and began to walk away.
"Phew!"
Seeing Qin Fan about to depart, Qiao Xiyuan heaved a heavy sigh of relief, feeling as if he had just made a round trip to the Ghost Gate. The immense weight of life and death that had been caught in his throat was finally gone.
Just as he thought he might escape unscathed, Qin Fan, who had just stepped out of the living room, suddenly stopped.
SWISH—!
Amid the chorus of wails, Qiao Xiyuan, whose eyes had remained fixed on Qin Fan’s back, flinched and instinctively held his breath.
His head shook uncontrollably as a single thought screamed through his mind. Don’t come back, don’t come back! Go, go, just go!
As if he had heard Qiao Xiyuan’s inner pleas, Qin Fan offered a playful smile. He didn’t turn around. Instead, he lifted his right foot tens of centimeters off the ground and slammed it down.
BANG—!
An explosive sound erupted from the impact.
CRACK! CRACKLE!
From that single stomp, cracks began to spiderweb across the floor behind Qin Fan. Within three breaths, they had spread across the entire room. The other family members, still huddled around the patriarch, were oblivious. Only Qiao Xiyuan, his gaze locked on Qin Fan, saw it happen.
Qiao Xiyuan was stunned. His mind was still reeling from the shock of seeing a single stomp shatter the entire floor, and he had no idea what it signified.
With his back to the Qiao Family, Qin Fan let out a faint smile after his stomp, then resumed walking.
The exact moment he took his first step away, a violent cracking sound was followed by a deafening roar.
CRACK—!
RUMBLE—!
"No!!!"
Reacting far too late, Qiao Xiyuan screamed himself hoarse, but his cry was already too late. The instant the sound left his lips, the entire living room floor collapsed with a thunderous roar, as if struck by an earthquake.
"Ahhh!!!"
"AHHH!!!"
"NO!!!"
Horrified screams echoed incessantly as the living room sank. To the very end, none of the Qiao family members—besides Qiao Xiyuan—knew what was happening. Their howls would become their final mark upon this world.
Amidst the continuous rumbling, the living room plunged deeper and deeper, instantly forming a Heavenly Pit dozens of square meters wide. Even then, the desperate screams had yet to cease.
RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!
As Qin Fan walked out of the Qiao Family compound, a sudden clap of thunder resounded from the dark clouds above.
"Oh? Old Man Heaven, did you finally understand what I said? You want to send down a thunderstorm? Fine by me. Go ahead, it’ll save me some trouble!" Qin Fan glanced up at the sky, which looked ready to unleash a downpour, and muttered cheekily to himself.
Sure enough, the moment he finished speaking...
SPLASH! SPLASH!
A torrential rain immediately followed the thunder, pouring down from the heavens.
Standing in the open, Qin Fan remained completely dry amidst the deluge. A faint cyan glow, barely visible to the naked eye, emanated from his body, shielding him from the cascading water.
He paused and turned, plucking a Thunder Summoning Talisman from the storage space of his sea of consciousness. He held it up to the sky, pinched between the index and middle fingers of his right hand. His lips moved rapidly, muttering an incantation. As he murmured, the elevated talisman began to emit a faint blue light, buzzing softly in the downpour.
"Go!"
As the talisman’s buzzing intensified, Qin Fan stopped chanting. He formed a hand seal with his left thumb and middle finger and, from across the space, flicked his finger toward the talisman.
SWOOSH—!
With that flick, the talisman buzzed and shot from Qin Fan’s hand. It soared high into the sky until it hovered directly above the Qiao Family mansion. A closer look would reveal that the talisman was positioned precisely over the living room—right above the newly formed Heavenly Pit.
With the buzzing talisman fixed in the air, Qin Fan’s expression grew stern. The vast Mixed Element True Qi within him erupted. His Eyes of Golden Flame blazed as he glared at the heavens. "Thunder, fall!" he roared.
BOOM—!
BOOM! RUMBLE!
BOOM! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!
Following his command, nine successive layers of Anomaly Thunder, utterly different from any normal thunder, boomed through the sky. Thick columns of Heavenly Thunder crashed down. Guided by the Thunder Summoning Talisman, they struck the Qiao Family mansion with pinpoint precision.
First Layer.
Third Layer.
Ninth Layer.
A full nine layers of Heavenly Thunder pierced the Qiao Family mansion, smashing down into the Heavenly Pit Qin Fan had created in the living room.
After the nine layers of Heavenly Thunder fell, the pungent, acrid smell of burning flesh billowed out from the mansion. Not even the torrential downpour could suppress the spreading stench.
SPLASH! SPLASH! SPLASH!
BOOM! BANG! BANG!
Next, the Qiao Family mansion, its roof and support columns already obliterated, finally gave way under the aftershocks of the thunder’s impact. It collapsed before Qin Fan’s very eyes.
In the blink of an eye, the entire Qiao Family mansion was reduced to a heap of rubble, endlessly lashed by the rain.
PS: I’d like to recommend a new novel, "Rebirth of the War God Broly"! It’s a great read, so fans of anime and manga should check it out
