Chapter 432 - 422: No Room for Choice!
He couldn’t help but be alarmed. In the Jiangzhou Earth Realm, anyone with even the slightest connection to the criminal underworld knew of Elder Ye’s incredible capabilities. He was the kind of man who could kill someone, dump the body in the Zhujiang River, and still face no consequences. According to the rumors, even someone like that had to bow and scrape before Qin Fan. One could only imagine what would happen if Qin Fan killed a nobody driver like him. Absolutely nothing. It would be as inconsequential as butchering a chicken or a dog.
Hearing the man’s pleas for mercy, Qin Fan laughed. "You have elderly parents and young children? And you still dared to do this, knowing that? Did the money make you brave?"
"I’m quite puzzled. Who offers a reward of three hundred million to a driver? Just how extravagantly wealthy are they? Tell me, who’s behind you? And why choose the port in Chongming for the exchange? That’s the fastest sea route to Japan, isn’t it? Tell me, are you working with the ’little devils’?" Qin Fan asked with a smile.
"No, no, no, not the ’little devils’! I can’t say! If I do, my entire family will be killed! Mr. Qin, I know I was wrong. Please, have mercy and spare my life, won’t you? I beg you, I can’t speak, I truly can’t!" Tears burst forth like a ruptured dam as the man found himself trapped in a personal hell of terror.
"You think your family will live if you don’t speak? And you?" His chilling smile turned even colder as Qin Fan looked at the man as if he were a clown.
BUZZ. BUZZ. BUZZ.
At that moment, just as Qin Fan finished speaking, the cell phone in his pocket began to vibrate. Glancing at the caller ID, he saw it was Ye Jizu. "Speak!" Qin Fan said coldly.
"Mr. Qin, our men caught the driver’s family at the airport! I’m rushing over there now!" Ye Jizu reported.
"Good. Keep the line open! Get there as fast as you can!" Qin Fan said, a wicked grin touching his lips.
"Yes, Mr. Qin!" On the other end of the line, Ye Jizu immediately urged his own driver to speed up.
Inside the SUV, Qin Fan put down the phone and said to the man, "Your family’s been caught at the airport. Anything you want to say? For a three-hundred-million-yuan job, your family—the old and the young—must have known about it. That’s right. It seems money really can drive people mad. Mad enough for old folks and women and children to ignore all danger!"
"How is that possible? How could they still be at the airport! I bought their plane tickets for six in the morning! How could this happen!" The man’s face went white, and he started howling like a madman.
"Did you forget flights can be delayed? Tsk, tsk. It seems even the heavens themselves don’t want to spare your family," Qin Fan chuckled.
"You—you, what do you want? Mr. Qin, no, please, don’t—!" His crying stopped abruptly. The man froze as if struck by lightning, first stunned, then shaking his head furiously as he sobbed and shouted.
It seems even the heavens themselves don’t want to spare your family! That phrase was laden with meaning. He couldn’t help but imagine the most tragic outcome!
"Alright, I’m in no rush for your confession now. Just stay put," Qin Fan said playfully, reaching out to pat the man’s face before shaking his head.
"Mr. Qin, they’re innocent! I’m the one who caused this mess! I kidnapped Chairman Qin and his wife; my family had nothing to do with it! Mr. Qin, please... my sins shouldn’t be visited upon my family! Please, I beg you, don’t hurt them!" The man became even more frantic at Qin Fan’s sudden calm, shaking his head and yelling desperately.
Qin Fan remained indifferent, turning a deaf ear. Smiling, he released the parking brake and stepped on the accelerator, speeding down the last one or two kilometers indicated by the navigation system.
"Approaching your destination. Two hundred meters remaining. Please slow down."
"You have reached your destination. Navigation has ended. Have a pleasant day!"
As the GPS voice faded, Qin Fan grabbed the man and flung him against the wide windshield before leisurely swinging the car door open and stepping out. Hauling the man up from the ground, Qin Fan said expressionlessly, "Let’s go. Take me to your contact!"
"No, Mr. Qin, my whole family will die! They’ll all be killed!" the man screamed, struggling frantically in Qin Fan’s grasp.
"Do you believe I can have them all killed right now? Do you believe I won’t even give you a chance to see them one last time? Don’t test my patience. You have no choice. Take me there!" Qin Fan grabbed the man’s collar, lifted him up, and shook his head coldly.
"Mr. Qin!" the man shrieked hysterically, tears streaming down his face.
"Move!" Qin Fan barked, his impatience now on full display.
Feeling the undisguised killing intent rolling off Qin Fan, the man shuddered. He sniffled like a drug addict. "Okay... okay!"
Just as Qin Fan said, things had already come to this. He had no other choice. It was either die immediately, along with his entire family, or take a gamble and try to atone for his crime through cooperation. He was out of options.
His legs trembling, the driver led the way into an area filled with shipping containers. He reached into his pocket, took out his cell phone, and pressed the power button with a shaking finger.
"Get a hold of yourself. Don’t let them hear that anything’s wrong," Qin Fan reminded him calmly, knowing he was about to make the call.
"Yes, Mr. Qin!" The driver swallowed hard and took several deep breaths. Wiping the tears from his eyes, he composed himself, then took one last breath to steady his voice before dialing the number.
BEEP... BEEP...
"You’re here?" a voice asked.
"I’m here. I’m in the middle of the container yard, about ten meters past the spot your navigation sent me to. Where are you? Come out and get them. The targets are still in the car," the driver said, his voice catching slightly in his throat. Even though Qin Fan had warned him not to give anything away, his voice still sounded unnaturally strained. Fortunately, the person on the other end didn’t seem to notice.
"Wait there. We’re coming out now," the voice replied.
CREAK.
A door on a modified shipping container was pushed open, and several men walked out.
"Where are they?" a man with triangular eyes asked in a low, stern voice. His head tilted as he scanned the area, and after spotting the two unfamiliar faces, he immediately strode forward.
Hearing the man’s question, the turncoat driver instinctively turned to look at Qin Fan.
Where are they? He had no idea how to answer that!
His odd reaction, however, caused the expressions of the other men to change in an instant. These men skirted the edge of the law, accustomed to living on a knife’s edge and spilling blood. For them, even the slightest unusual expression was enough to sense that something was wrong. If they weren’t that sharp, they never would have survived this long. The only reason they hadn’t detected anything strange during the phone call was because the driver’s words had lowered their guard. But now, seeing the looks on Qin Fan and the driver’s faces, how could they not realize what was happening?
In that moment, the leader with the triangular eyes roared furiously, "Motherfucker!"
As he spoke, all the men reflexively reached for their waists.
