The Revenge of the Reborn Supreme Sovereign

Chapter 400 - 390: Weak Water Three Thousand, I Only Scoop a Ladleful to Drink!

Outside the women’s dormitory area.

Qin Fan, who was standing there waiting, raised his hand and called out with a smile the moment he saw Jiang Yino.

She gave him an odd look before hurrying over. "Big Shot? What’s with the mask all of a sudden?"

"Ruanqin said that if my heart belongs to someone, I should keep a low profile and not attract swarms of admirers! So, you get it. If I weren’t wearing a mask, can you imagine the scene I’d cause, just standing here outside the women’s dorm?" Qin Fan bragged smugly. With his hands behind his back, he turned and began to stroll away.

"Since when did you have such a vain and shameless side? Do you really think you’re God’s gift to women?" Jiang Yino retorted with a laugh, as if instinctively immune to his flattery.

Walking shoulder to shoulder with Jiang Yino, Qin Fan avoided her gaze and spoke with a light, teasing smile, "Haha! Vain and shameless, huh? If I am, then you must be the only one who gets to see this side of me! As for whether I’m God’s gift to women, that doesn’t matter. I don’t care about anyone else. As long as I can captivate you, that’s all that matters!"

"Big Shot, where exactly are you taking me?" Hearing Qin Fan on the verge of laying his feelings bare, Jiang Yino, who wasn’t ready for it, quickly changed the subject.

"Isn’t there a Wanda Square off campus? Would Goddess Yinuo grant me the honor of an invitation to a movie, some arcade games, and then a meal?" Qin Fan didn’t press the previous topic, smiling knowingly instead.

Clasping her hands in front of her, Jiang Yino exhaled and turned to look at him. "Is this one of your moves?"

"Well then, Goddess Yinuo, will you let me try? Do me the honor, spare me the heartache, how about it?" Qin Fan replied, his voice full of gentle affection, his face lit up by a disarmingly sunny and innocent smile.

Jiang Yino met his smile, her own expression playful as she paused for effect before asking, "You’re that certain I’ll say yes?"

"It’s not a matter of being certain," Qin Fan said, staring at her with deep affection. "Even if you reject me this time, I’ll ask again tomorrow, the day after, and the day after that. I’ll keep trying until you agree!"

"So you plan on pestering me relentlessly, like a stray dog?"

"Exactly!"

"I’m very curious, and I honestly don’t get it. With your qualities, finding someone better than me would be effortless, so why choose me? I, Jiang Yino, don’t think I’m terrible, but I’m not particularly exceptional either. In terms of looks, family background, figure, or personality, you could easily pluck someone better than me from the crowd of women at Jinling University!"

Stopping in her tracks, Jiang Yino looked at Qin Fan with utter seriousness.

She needed an answer. An answer that would truly set her heart at ease.

"Of three thousand beauties, I would only choose you. If you’re asking why, it’s because fate itself has decreed that you are my soul’s home for this lifetime. Yes, you’re right. If I just beckoned, a wave of women with excellent qualities would appear. But I have no interest in them, do you understand? Only you can give my soul a sense of fulfillment and tranquility! The only reason I came to Jinling University was for you. That isn’t a joke. It might sound unbelievable, but it’s the truth. I used to think dreams were just fantasies, and my years-long, serial-like dream felt utterly unreal. But after arriving at Jinling University, I realized it was all fated. From the moment I saw you at freshman registration, I knew. The other half of my life was set in stone, and nothing could change it."

With heartfelt sincerity pouring from him, Qin Fan’s clear eyes gazed openly at Jiang Yino as he spoke each word with profound emotion.

Perhaps the pace was a bit fast. But for Qin Fan, he simply couldn’t maintain the slow rhythm of his past life. In that life, he and Jiang Yino hadn’t gotten together until the second half of their junior year. But to wait another two and a half years now? That was far too long.

"If it weren’t for what I saw on the basketball court, I would think you were spinning a tale—an utterly fantastical one at that! Qin Fan, let me ask you this: how am I supposed to believe you?"

Overwhelmed by Qin Fan’s successive confessions, Jiang Yino was losing her composure. Indeed, her so-called modesty seemed to have vanished into thin air. Though she asked how she could believe him, deep down, she already had the answer. From their first meeting at freshman registration, to their meal in the campus cafeteria, and everything that had happened since, Jiang Yino found she couldn’t help but believe in the dream he described. When so many coincidences pile up, they cease to be mere coincidences. The top-scoring scholar... maybe he really had come just for her.

In response to her question, Qin Fan said nothing. Instead, he grabbed her hand and quickly placed it over his heart. "Feel that? My heart is racing."

She allowed Qin Fan to hold her hand against his chest.

Five seconds later, Jiang Yino blushed and pulled her hand away. She shot him an exasperated look and said, "It’s racing, all right! But don’t they say a liar’s heart races, too?"

Her response left Qin Fan stunned, making him feel as if he had just shot himself in the foot.

"Haha! Come on, snap out of it! Weren’t we going to see a movie and play arcade games? Let’s go!" Jiang Yino laughed, waving a hand in front of his dazed eyes.

With that, she gracefully took the lead.

Honestly, the moment she felt Qin Fan’s heart pound against her palm, she had been secretly delighted. After all, she was just a young woman who had just stepped into the ivory tower. No matter how unbreakable her self-professed restraint was, or how mature she thought she was, when faced with a man as impossibly perfect and deeply affectionate as Qin Fan, she could hardly escape falling for him. Of course, she wasn’t about to lose her mind over him just yet, but after a conversation like that, how could she simply walk away unscathed? It was easier said than done.

Never mind whether Qin Fan’s emotions were genuine—how could a girl as new to the world as she possibly cope with his monstrous, centuries-deep cunning?

Watching Jiang Yino’s retreating back, Qin Fan broke into a smile of indescribable happiness.

Completely immersed in this long-lost feeling of joy, he failed to notice a female student not far behind him, grinding her teeth with a hateful gaze. Then again, did the Qin Fan of this moment really need to pay any mind to his surroundings?

"Jiang Yino... Heh. Jiang Yino!"

With a fierce expression, the girl hissed through gritted teeth, as if her most prized possession had just been stolen from her.

In that instant, she descended into madness.
