Chapter 526: Praises (1)
Chapter 524
"You okay?" Elyon asked as his hands hovered above a man who was terribly injured.
His gut had been cut open, and it was nothing short of a miracle that he had still been alive.
But now, the torn flesh was knitting itself back together at an astonishing rate, shocking the Vanguard healers who had been trying their hardest to stabilize his condition.
The man had initially been in too much pain to speak, but now he groaned softly and looked up, only to find a pair of golden eyes smiling gently down at him.
"I-I’m feeling better."
Elyon nodded with a soft smile as the flesh finished knitting itself together.
The man slowly ran a hand across his stomach for a few seconds before looking back at the Celestial, blinking several times.
"It’s-it’s healed? I thought I would die."
"Of course it’s healed. You got the best Celestial right here with you. Why wouldn’t it be healed?" Elyon exclaimed, raising both thumbs with a wide grin.
Ray and Bruce both turned their heads toward the Celestial sitting in the chair, their expressions immediately twisting into sharp frowns.
"Oi! Don’t do or say anything drastic, dumbass. I will kill you if you ruin my reputation again!" Ray barked angrily.
Elyon didn’t reply. Instead, he simply moved on to the next person, going from one injured person to another and healing whatever was wrong with them.
As he treated their injuries, he unintentionally healed illnesses and sicknesses that had been troubling some of them as well.
The eye in the sky tracked his every movement without so much as a blink.
It didn’t appear to be in any rush. It simply remained there, calmly observing everything without leaking even the slightest trace of an aura.
Then, the golden eye flashed with light.
When it looked at Elyon’s body again, its expressionless gaze seemed to change.
It was almost as if the eye had squinted in confusion.
Disbelief.
Shock.
And, beneath all of it, something that looked disturbingly close to fear.
Ray and Bruce exchanged glances.
From the dark corner where the two of them sat, the hairs on their bodies began to rise, every instinct screaming that something was wrong.
A strange sensation overcame them.
It felt as though they were naked.
Exposed.
Laid completely bare before a pair of unseen eyes.
Choosing to trust his instincts, Ray dashed toward the chair and appeared before it in a flash.
Unlike the other two, who needed to touch him to share his vision of the outside world, Ray didn’t need to.
He grabbed the chair, and instantly, a 360-degree perception flooded his mind.
All while Elyon remained completely unaware, still busy healing people and grinning like a madman.
"Elyon, Elyon! The sky! Turn to the sky. I want to see something now!"
A certain wrongness flooded through Ray’s mind.
He couldn’t sense anything around him.
He couldn’t sense anything in the sky either.
Yet his instincts were screaming at him to look there.
If the danger had been on the ground, his friends would have noticed it and flared into action.
That was why his gut was telling him to look upward.
The Celestial was confused as he was in the middle of healing someone.
But hearing the panic in the boy’s voice, he slowly turned his gaze toward the sky, careful not to break his concentration on the person he was treating.
The moment the eye realized it had been discovered, it swiftly began retreating into the heavens.
Then, a second before it completely vanished, Elyon finally laid eyes on the sky.
Ray’s eyes stretched wide.
The sky was repairing itself.
It looked like a piece of fabric that had been torn open, only for the damage to suddenly pull itself back together.
Except this wasn’t a patch.
The sky simply returned to normal as though nothing had ever happened, with the sun shining peacefully overhead.
’Wh-wh-what was that? Did-Did the sky look like it was peeling back into place?’
Elyon’s body trembled.
His holy light flickered violently, appearing and disappearing around him as a wave of nausea slammed into his body.
The Celestial suddenly yelped and grabbed his head.
The holy light vanished with him.
Trish and Kai immediately looked toward their friend, who was now clutching his head in intense pain.
Before Kai could even blink, Trisha was already rushing toward Ray without a second thought.
"Oi! Elyon, what’s going on with you?" Ray shouted in panic as he watched the Celestial tremble in the chair.
"I-I-I—"
Jerking his head backward, Elyon’s eyes shone for a split second as a flood of memories that seemed too hazy to grasp flickered in and out of his mind.
Strings of memories ran through each other like a seamstress’s thread woven through fabric.
Several memories flashed past, far too fragmented for his mind to comprehend.
But then—
One single thing stood out.
An eye.
A golden eye overlooking a realm that no mere mortal could ever access.
And just like that, the memories collapsed like a tower crumbling in on itself, leaving nothing behind as his head slowly hung back down toward the earth.
His eyes remained unfocused as he blinked several times in confusion.
Only then did Elyon hear himself being called from both inside the mindspace and outside.
His eyelids fluttered a few times before he finally came to and looked to his side, where Trisha was crouching beside him and rigorously shaking him.
"Are you okay, Ray?"
"Oi, Elyon! What happened to you?" Ray shouted as he shook the Celestial a few times.
"...."
Slowly, the Celestial’s face cracked into a wide smile as he lifted both thumbs into the air.
"I’m fine. Now, let’s get back to healing, shall we?!" Elyon exclaimed excitedly as he returned to what he had been doing.
The same warm smile remained fixed on his face as his hands moved with the precision of a professional.
Trish and Ray were left stunned by the sudden switch.
’This is definitely not Ray. Something is wrong.’
’Elyon, what happened to you?’
"Are you feeling okay?" Elyon asked as he stared at an older woman.
The woman gave a slight nod.
"How can I repay you, my son? I thought I was going to die."
Elyon’s smile widened as he raised a thumb toward her.
"I don’t want your money, ma’am. I just want your praises. So come on, praise me. You all should praise me as a form of ’thank you.’"
"...."
Ray and the others blinked several times.
The Tribrid ended up smacking his own head with his palm.
’Oh, for heaven’s sake. How did I fall for this again? I shouldn’t have given up control to this fool, especially with lots of people around.’
"What? Won’t you all thank me? Come on, do it already. Say, ’You did a good job, Elyon. You are wonderful, amazing, and powerful.’ Hurry."
