Chapter 460: In the Nick of Time
Chapter 458
The dust was almost settling when a clamorous bang tore through the air as Bruce’s body was sent hurling out of the dust like a bullet.
His massive body crashed into a building with tremendous force, causing a massive dent to appear across its surface. Concrete fractured around the point of impact, cracks spiderwebbing outward as debris rained down.
BANG!
Silver blurred forward.
Her silver chitinous head was cracked open, blue blood streaming down the side of her face and dripping from her chin.
In a blink, she was already in the air with her feet poised forward and soon,
BAM!
She hammered them into the werewolf’s abdomen with her entire strength.
The impact compressed Bruce’s torso for a split second. His eyes almost widened in pain, but he held it back.
BOOOM!
The dent behind him grew more profound as the wall crumbled into a gaping hole. Bruce’s body tore through the building and went ricocheting across the ground for a moment, smashing through chunks of concrete and sending dust billowing in every direction.
Until he sliced his claws through the ground to stop himself from bouncing across the ground.
His claws gouged deep trenches into the earth as he finally came to a halt.
Drones rushed inside almost instantly, following the battle while Silver’s form blurred through the house without as much as a care in the world.
She kicked off the ground and spun, her tail streaking towards the werewolf like a whip.
Bruce dove to the side, his body crashing through a sofa while the Abberant’s tail shattered the floorboards like they were made of twigs.
Reaching forward, Bruce grabbed the couch and, without any hesitation, hurled it directly at the Abberant.
Silver’s tail shot forward and instantly split the couch in two.
Wood and pieces of fabric exploded through the air.
Only for the werewolf to close the distance between them in a flash, a straight punch rocketing towards her face.
Silver was swift enough to dodge the punch before countering with a claw slash that landed across the werewolf’s fur.
Dragging her claws downward, she ripped a deep gash across Bruce’s chest, blood spraying through the air.
Bruce gritted his teeth.
She spun around and was ready to sweep the werewolf off his feet.
Bruce took to the air, his claws finding the ceiling above with no stress.
He swung like a monkey and landed on the staircase, away from the Abberant.
But it didn’t matter because she moved in a flash and emerged before him.
Her claws streaked towards his face.
But Bruce parried with his claws and shot forward like a bullet, grabbing her by the neck before hurling her upward into the ceiling.
Vaulting upward, the werewolf spun around and sent his knees crashing into her neck with the force of a speeding train.
BAM!
The Abberant’s body ploughed through the ceiling and shot upward through the open air.
The roof of the building collapsed almost instantly, with a few Aspirants almost falling through.
While in mid air, Silver combed her hair once and, with a swing, an electrical surge of energy burst out with a furious gale.
The energy crackled violently as it tore through the air.
She smirked, watching as the energy headed for the Aspirants.
’He won’t aba—’
BOOOM!
Bruce vaulted higher into the air, totally ignoring the surge of energy heading towards the humans below.
Silver’s eyes widened in confusion.
"I dwon’t care abwout them."
BAM! BAM! BAM!
A consecutive pomell of punches crashed into Silver’s face and body.
Each impact jolted her silver frame backward as Bruce relentlessly followed up, refusing to give her even a moment to recover.
Meanwhile, Lincoln spent all the meta-force he had left to erect earth walls high above the Aspirants’ heads while those quick enough were able to jump out of the way.
The earth surged upward in thick slabs, forming barriers just as the electrical energy came crashing down.
Another punch rocketed towards her face which she snatched immediately, followed by a kick to the werewolf’s face.
The impact snapped Bruce’s head backward.
Gripping the arm as tightly as she could, she put pressure into the kick, sending Bruce’s body shooting downward while his arm was heard tearing out of his shoulder.
A sickening sound echoed through the air.
But for some reason, it didn’t rip totally off, forcing Silver to let go while the werewolf connected with a roof in a blink.
His body passed through the roof, shattering the whole thing and causing it to crumble in a heap of rubble.
Broken pieces of wood and concrete rained down around him as Bruce’s massive body disappeared through the collapsing structure.
Silver shot downward like an arrow, cutting through the opened roof.
Her feet were poised to smash through the werewolf.
But with a swift roll aside, Bruce narrowly avoided the descending attack. His body twisted across the floor just as Silver’s feet came crashing down.
BOOOOM!
The impact shook the entire building.
A five metres wide crater instantly formed in the flooring beneath her feet, cracks racing outward in every direction from the point of impact.
Dust and splinters of wood burst upward.
Before the werewolf could think of lunging towards the Abberant, she suddenly emerged before him.
Her fist shot upward.
BAM!
The uppercut smashed into Bruce’s body with such force that his feet almost left the ground.
Before he could even recover from the blow, Silver grabbed his feet.
With a brutal motion, she hurled him back down with all her might.
BOOM!
The ground splintered beneath the werewolf’s weight, floorboards kicking into the air as his body slammed into the surface.
Black blood sprayed from Bruce’s mouth.
Silver didn’t give him even a moment to recover.
She lifted his body off the ground and, with a fierce spin, sent him flying.
The werewolf’s massive body tore through the air before crashing through a wall and bursting out into another street.
He rolled across the ground, his claws scraping against the surface as he tried to slow himself down.
The spectators quickly pursued, determined to not miss a single show at all.
Silver bolted out of the gaping hole created by the werewolf’s body.
She streaked forward with blazing momentum, her silver form cutting through the dust and debris left behind by their battle.
Within a flash, she sent her foot hurling towards the werewolf’s body.
Suddenly, adrenaline coursed through the werewolf’s body.
His instincts screamed.
His muscles reacted before his mind could even process the danger.
Bruce zoomed to the side, much faster than he was before.
Just by a little though.
Silver’s foot crashed through the empty air.
BOOOOM!
The force of the missed kick alone produced a thunderous bang that rattled the surroundings.
Bruce lunged forward with the same increased speed.
His massive body blurred across the short distance between them.
Before Silver knew what was going on, his arms wrapped around her waist.
Bruce tightened his grip.
Then he lifted her off the ground.
With all the strength in his body, he drove her back into the earth.
BOOOOM!
The impact violently shook the street.
Silver’s body slammed into the ground with tremendous force, and for a split second, her eyes almost rolled backward from the sheer impact.
Bruce didn’t hesitate.
He sat atop her body and began raining down punches onto her with lightning speed.
BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!
His fists descended one after another.
The Abberant was moving her head from left to right with matching speed, causing the punches to only crash into the earth.
Each missed punch exploded against the ground beside her head, sending chunks of earth and dust flying in every direction.
Another punch rocketed towards her face.
This time, Silver caught it.
Her fingers clamped around Bruce’s wrist.
With her second elbow raised, she brought it down on the arm with crushing force.
CRACK!
Despite the werewolf’s durability, he let out a piercing howl.
"AWHOOOO!"
Pain shot through his arm.
Then, with a twist of her body, Silver used Bruce’s own momentum against him and sent him hurling into the ground.
His massive body slammed into the surface once again.
Instead of sitting on him like he had done, she cocked her hand backward.
Her silver claws glinted beneath the light, energy gathering around them with tremendous intensity.
The claws trembled slightly as they became poised directly above the werewolf’s neck.
Ready to end things.
Everybody gasped in horror.
The claws moved with the speed of lightning—faster than anything the Abberant had ever shown before.
The distance between the claws and Bruce’s neck vanished almost instantly.
The viewers, for the first time, were silent.
Nobody typed.
Nobody shouted.
Everybody was on the edge of their seats.
"RAY!"
His friends shouted in unison and were ready to bolt forward when,
VROOOM!
Suddenly, a bike flew through the air, speeding towards Silver’s face.
The Abberant’s head snapped upward.
Her eyes caught the incoming vehicle at the last possible moment.
With a raise of her second hand, the bike smashed into it.
BANG!
The impact sent her sliding backward for a few inches.
The bike was knocked away.
Then,
An axe flashed through the air.
Silver immediately raised her claws to block it.
CLANG!
A fierce rain of sparks erupted between the weapon and her claw, scattering through the air as the two forces collided.
The axe trembled against her claws.
And soon, a man came into view, holding onto the weapon with a firm grasp.
